Chapter 47: A Familiar Scent
Chapter Forty-Seven: A Familiar Scent
Qing Tian seemed to have made up her mind, her tone colder than ever. She sneered, “Kill me or torture me as you please. My life is worthless anyway, and it makes no difference whether I live or die. I don’t want anyone to get hurt because of me! It would be better to die and reunite with the loved ones I miss!”
She thought that whether she lived or died truly made no difference… she could reunite with her grandfather, grandmother, and mother if she died. But could she really just die and be done with it?
As soon as she finished speaking, she forcefully gripped the hand holding the dagger. Before Li Chen could react, she brought the dagger close to her own neck. The sharp blade lightly touched Qing Tian’s tender skin, and immediately blood beads seeped out.
Seeing Qing Tian like this, Song Shishi scrambled up from the ground in a panic and cried out, “Sister Qing… Li Chen, let Sister Qing go quickly! She’s innocent! Why are you dragging her into this, you ****! Let Sister Qing go…”
Li Chen seemed stunned by Qing Tian’s actions. He had only intended to scare the cold woman, Qing Tian, but he never expected her to truly be unafraid of death.
Song Shishi clutched her chest, crying weakly.
The Man in Black decided he had to do something the moment Qing Tian pressed the dagger to her neck.
He approached Li Chen at his fastest speed and agilely grabbed the hand holding the knife. With a pull, he removed it from Qing Tian’s neck. As Li Chen struggled, the dagger fiercely stabbed into the Man in Black’s arm. While the Man in Black was momentarily stunned, Li Chen delivered another blow to his chest. Fortunately, it was deflected by the Man in Black, and the dagger merely grazed his chest.
Qing Tian was terrified and screamed.
The Man in Black embraced Qing Tian with one arm while fending off Li Chen with the other. When he saw the wound on his hand, he frowned and, with all his might, punched Li Chen’s chest repeatedly until he fell to the ground.
After Li Chen landed, the Man in Black executed a stylish turn and stomped hard on Li Chen’s chest. Li Chen gasped for air on the ground, coughing as he said, “Qing Tian, even Wu Feng would go all out to protect you. No wonder Xia Yang is interested in you!”
Mentioning Xia Yang, the Man in Black seemed displeased. He delivered another forceful kick, followed by a powerful kick directly to his temple. Li Chen immediately lost consciousness.
Qing Tian was held by the Man in Black, her arms around his neck. They were so close that she could smell the faint jasmine scent on him. The scent was surprisingly similar to Ji Xiangyu’s. The eyes beneath the black mask were also so expressive and moving.
They gazed at each other like this, and Qing Tian unconsciously reached out, wanting to uncover the true face beneath the mask.
As soon as she reached out, the Man in Black refused. He carried her to Song Shishi and said, “I’ll leave Black Eagle to you. I’ll take her to get treated…”
Song Shishi nodded, and Qing Tian exclaimed in surprise, “Shishi, how can you… you…”
Both of them waited for Qing Tian to finish. Qing Tian looked at their identical expressions and surrendered, saying, “Alright, I’ll do as you say!”
Song Shishi even managed a smile and said, “Sister Qing, ganbatte!”
Qing Tian was bewildered by the “ganbatte.” What was going on? She was about to be devoured by a wolf, and her sister was telling her to “ganbatte”?
It was truly speechless…
The Man in Black, with Qing Tian in his arms, moved through the factory. She then seemed to be drugged and fainted as she walked.
When she woke up again, the first thing she saw was a man standing in front of a mirror, shirtless, tending to his wounds.
She saw a wound on his chest in the mirror, which was shocking. It was so painful to look at that her own heart ached.
What kind of face was hidden beneath that black mask?
His physique was great, with eight-pack abs. His arm muscles were also healthy. Even with the injury, the perfect muscle curves were still a pleasure to behold.
Forgive her for using “pleasure to behold” to describe the black-clad hero who had rescued her.
She really wanted to lift his mask and see his true face clearly.
The Man in Black seemed to have sensed her gaze. He quickly finished bandaging his wound, put on a light blue t-shirt, and walked towards her.
He approached Qing Tian, and that familiar scent, similar to Ji Xiangyu’s, wafted to her nose again. She felt that this person was so familiar.
She opened her mouth to ask, “Do we know each other?”
The Man in Black ignored her question, sat beside her, and reached out to untie the gauze around her neck. His movements were gentle. Even with the mask, one could see the worry on his face.
He carefully unwrapped the gauze around Qing Tian’s neck, loop by loop. During this process, Qing Tian held her breath. The atmosphere was truly heart-stirring.
Her heart pounded, and her face suddenly turned very red.
The Man in Black carefully examined the wound on her neck, then took out a bottle and applied something to it. Qing Tian immediately felt a cool sensation on her neck.
As the Man in Black applied the ointment, he gently blew on it, making Qing Tian’s heart flutter. It was the first time she had been so close to a stranger.
Seeing Qing Tian’s flushed face, the Man in Black reached out to test her forehead. Qing Tian instinctively dodged. The next moment, she saw a look of disappointment on the Man in Black’s face.
The Man in Black withdrew his hand and said coldly, “I’ve applied ointment to your wound. Don’t worry, it won’t leave a scar!”
Qing Tian sensed the sudden stiffening of the atmosphere and awkwardly reached out, placing the Man in Black’s hand on her forehead. She then said softly and gently, “I don’t have a fever!”
The Man in Black was clearly startled by Qing Tian’s action and didn’t know what to say.
Qing Tian also felt that her sudden initiative was embarrassing.
However, he had the same scent as Ji Xiangyu, and this made her a little infatuated. It was as if Ji Xiangyu was by her side, warm.
In reality, she couldn’t have Ji Xiangyu, and there was a barrier between them.
But this killer, called Wu Feng, made her feel a sense of belonging. She conflated him with Ji Xiangyu, but was this inexplicable good feeling truly good?
