Chapter 64: An Accident Within an Accident
Chapter Sixty-Four: An Unexpected Accident
Qing Tian followed the servant to a guest room. The servant politely said, “Miss Qing, please wait here for a moment. I’ll go upstairs to get a dress for you!”
Qing Tian nodded and then sat on the sofa. On the coffee table, there were some reading books thoughtfully placed by the host family. She picked up one called 《Wandering Life Record》. As soon as she opened it, she found it very interesting and began reading with great enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, the servant went to the Ji Family Home’s special collection room for guests’ spare clothes. After picking out a beige ****dress, she was about to get shoes when she saw Ji Weiwei replace the dress she had just chosen with another one.
The servant asked curiously, “Miss, what are you doing?”
Ji Weiwei spoke with the commanding tone of a young lady, “Give this dress to Qing Tian!”
The servant had only recently joined the Ji Family Home, and Ji Weiwei was not usually gentle with the servants. Xiao Wu was naturally afraid of Ji Weiwei, so she had no choice but to take it over.
As she was leaving, Ji Weiwei warned, “Don’t say I was here, or you’ll be packing your bags and leaving!”
Xiao Wu nodded nervously, “I haven’t seen Miss!!”
Ji Weiwei then said with satisfaction, “And for this dress, tell her that Qing Tian chose it herself, understand?”
Xiao Wu nodded obediently and then took the dress to the guest room to find Qing Tian.
Qing Tian was engrossed in her book and didn’t notice when the servant arrived.
Xiao Wu stood at the doorway, looking at Qing Tian’s focused expression as she read. She was truly quiet and beautiful. She couldn’t understand why Miss Ji would target Qing Tian. Qing Tian was always kind to everyone and posed no threat to Ji Weiwei at all.
Xiao Wu gently knocked on the door. Qing Tian looked up from her book. Upon seeing Xiao Wu standing at the doorway, she immediately put down her book, stood up, and smiled slightly, saying, “Thank you for your trouble! I’m sorry to have bothered you with a trip.”
Xiao Wu smiled unnaturally and said, “Miss Qing, please don’t be so polite. This is what I should be doing!”
Xiao Wu’s hands trembled as she handed the dress to Qing Tian. Qing Tian asked with concern, “Are you alright? Are you feeling unwell?”
Xiao Wu thrust the dress into Qing Tian’s hands, her eyes blinking rapidly as she said, “I, I’m fine, Miss Qing. Please go change. Master and Young Master are waiting for you in the living room to have dessert!”
Qing Tian accepted the dress without thinking and went to change.
It was a light pink dress. The dress didn’t look very new; it was a bit old-fashioned, as if it were a popular style from the Republic of China era.
However, the style of the dress was beautiful. Wearing it now gave it a retro charm, a blend of ancient elegance with the vitality of a young girl.
After changing, Qing Tian went downstairs.
In the living room, Ji Weiwei was watching television with a cushion and eating watermelon. Ji Xiangyu was asking Grandfather Ji about the art exhibition.
Just as the three of them were busy with their own affairs, the nanny came out of the kitchen with bird’s nest soup. The moment she saw Qing Tian walking down from upstairs, her hand slipped, and she dropped all the dessert onto the wooden floor.
The nanny covered her mouth and said, “Mist…”
The people in the living room heard the commotion and all turned their gazes towards the source of the sound. The three of them watched as the nanny pointed at Qing Tian, who was standing on the stairs looking a bit surprised.
Ji Weiwei had expected a good show, but at this moment, she couldn’t laugh. Qing Tian, wearing that dress, looked so much like their deceased grandmother.
The moment Grandfather Ji saw Qing Tian, his heart pounded violently. His blood pressure surged, and he clutched his chest with his left hand, saying to Qing Tian, “Xinyu….”
Ji Xiangyu shouted, “Hurry and get Grandpa’s medicine!”
Seeing Grandfather Ji suddenly having difficulty breathing, Qing Tian immediately ran to his side and asked with worry, “Grandfather Ji, are you alright?”
She looked at Grandfather Ji’s pained expression and felt terrible. She then looked at Ji Xiangyu, whose eyes also held surprise.
After the servant brought the medicine and Grandfather Ji’s emotions stabilized, Ji Weiwei walked up to Qing Tian and interrogated her in a fierce tone, “Who gave you permission to wear this dress?”
At this moment, Xiao Wu chimed in with Ji Weiwei, saying, “Miss Qing said she wanted to wear it. I originally chose a yellow dress, but she refused to wear it no matter how I persuaded her. She insisted… insisted on wearing this dress!”
Ji Weiwei didn’t even look at Qing Tian’s expression after hearing this. She directly slapped Qing Tian across the face. Qing Tian knew deep down that she had been framed by Ji Weiwei again. What could she do in the Ji Family Home? Even the servants were colluding to frame her; what was the point of explaining?
Ji Weiwei roared, “Qing Tian, you have quite the nerve! How dare you wear this dress? Grandpa specifically ordered that no one was allowed to touch this dress, and you’re wearing it now! Who do you think you are, a wild girl!”
Qing Tian looked at Ji Weiwei with a detached expression and said coldly, “This is not what happened. I didn’t choose this dress!”
Ji Weiwei asked mockingly, “Then why are you wearing it? Are you still trying to quibble?”
Ji Weiwei thought to herself: Let’s see how Grandpa likes you now, Qing Tian. I will definitely make you look ridiculous!
Qing Tian stated again, “I said, I didn’t choose this dress! I don’t want to explain anything.”
Ji Weiwei pointed at Qing Tian and said to Grandfather Ji, “Grandpa, she’s still quibbling. Is this the kind girl you spoke of? Why do I see someone full of schemes?”
“Enough!!!!”
Ji Xiangyu, in front of everyone, shouted loudly for the first time, in a very ungentlemanly manner. Even the nanny, who had been helping the Ji Family Home for decades, had never seen their Young Master Ji get so angry.
Ji Weiwei clearly didn’t expect Ji Xiangyu to be so angry. She saw Ji Xiangyu stand up from the sofa and quickly walk over to Qing Tian, then pick her up.
Ji Xiangyu, with a cold expression, held Qing Tian and said to Ji Weiwei, “Weiwei, enough is enough. Qing Tian poses no threat to you at all. Why are you pushing her so hard!”
After speaking, he carried Qing Tian upstairs. Ji Weiwei was yelled at by Ji Xiangyu so loudly for the first time and felt immensely wronged. Why were her own family members siding with this wild girl, Qing Tian?
Ji Weiwei ran to Grandfather Ji, crying and protesting, “Grandpa, look, even Brother Yu is siding with an outsider!”
Grandfather Ji closed his eyes, his brow furrowed. After a while, he said, “Weiwei, when you’re done throwing a tantrum, go back to your room and study.”
Ji Weiwei didn’t expect her grandfather, who had always doted on her, to also side with Qing Tian. She unreasonably complained, “Even Grandpa is siding with an outsider. Am I not as good as an outsider?”
Ji Weiwei suppressed her anger and said, “Weiwei, be good. The joke has gone a bit too far. If you don’t go back to your room obediently, don’t blame Grandpa for not warning you!”
Ji Weiwei’s face turned red with anger. She slammed her hand down and angrily ran back to her room!
In the stairwell, Qing Tian wrapped her arms around Ji Xiangyu’s neck and explained in a low voice, “It really wasn’t me!”
Ji Xiangyu looked at Qing Tian with guilt and said with concern, “I know. It’s alright now!”
Qing Tian asked worriedly, “But Grandpa…”
Ji Xiangyu gave Qing Tian a reassuring look and said, “I’ll talk to Grandpa. Don’t worry!”
At this moment, Qing Tian felt that Ji Xiangyu was truly so manly. He was simply incredibly handsome!!!
