Chapter 75: Rainy Night
Chapter Seventy-Five: Rainy Night
Qing Tian looked at the empty corridor, with no one in sight. The surroundings were so quiet she could hear her own breath. She had been waiting for Ji Xiangyu for a full two hours, and the sky had already darkened. Had he not shown up because he didn’t see the note?
Qing Tian remembered Ji Xiangyu’s leg suddenly cramping during the match today. Could something be wrong with his leg!
Qing Tian quickly took out her mobile phone and called Ji Xiangyu, but after ringing for a long time, no one answered. So she sent him a text message: I’m waiting for you in the music room! How is your injury?
Qing Tian prayed in her heart that Ji Xiangyu would come. But it was too late to have dinner now, it was more like time for a late-night snack!
Tonight, Ji Weiwei was very unusual, constantly pestering Ji Xiangyu to practice the guqin with her in the courtyard. Although Ji Xiangyu’s major was piano, he actually had considerable research in guqin as well. Therefore, Ji Weiwei was pestering Ji Xiangyu at this moment to practice the melody they would perform in a few days.
Ji Xiangyu patiently taught her how to cultivate emotions and how to immerse herself in the melody.
However, Ji Weiwei couldn’t get into the right state and kept getting distracted, appearing absent-minded.
Ji Xiangyu asked doubtfully, “Weiwei, what’s wrong with you tonight? Why are you so out of sorts!”
Ji Weiwei smiled, “Perhaps I’m too nervous about this performance. I want to get into the Royal Conservatory of Music and attend the same university as Brother Yu!”
Ji Xiangyu smiled after hearing this and said, “Who says I want to get into the Royal Conservatory of Music? That’s not my dream university!”
Ji Weiwei asked in confusion, “Didn’t Uncle and Aunt always hope you would get into the Royal Conservatory of Music?”
Ji Xiangyu looked at the night stars helplessly and said, “That’s their expectation, not my dream place. I make my own choices in life!”
Ji Weiwei pouted, “Oh… Then what is your dream place?”
Ji Xiangyu shook his head, “Not yet, because I don’t know yet!”
Since she didn’t know which university Qing Tian would go to, nor what major she wanted to apply for, it seemed he needed to inquire about it.
Ji Weiwei originally wanted to keep pestering Ji Xiangyu, but since Ji Xiangyu also needed to practice for the upcoming performance, Ji Weiwei gave up the idea of pestering him. Seeing that it was getting late, she let Ji Xiangyu go with peace of mind.
When Ji Xiangyu returned to his room to practice the piano, his mobile phone kept flashing with notifications. He opened his phone and saw that Qing Tian had called him and sent a text message. He immediately opened the text message. Although it was a brief greeting, it was enough to make him excited. Looking at the message Qing Tian sent him, it meant she had made plans with him earlier.
Seeing that some time had passed, how could he not have known? Was it Ji Weiwei?
He didn’t care anymore and directly took his car key and headed to school. As soon as he reached the underground parking lot, Ji Weiwei chased after him and said, “Brother Yu, where are you going so late?”
Ji Xiangyu ignored her and quickly reversed, then accelerated and drove away.
Ji Weiwei watched Ji Xiangyu drive away, stomping her foot hard. “Qing Tian, you’re lucky…”
The school’s management was checking classrooms and saw Qing Tian standing in the corridor. So they said, “Little sister, the school is closing. Please leave now!”
Qing Tian looked around with a sense of loss. There was no one around, let alone Ji Xiangyu coming. She left dejectedly.
As soon as she reached the school’s main entrance, it started to rain heavily. Qing Tian took out the umbrella from her schoolbag, but the rain was too heavy; there was no difference between holding an umbrella and not holding one.
She was already in a bad mood and didn’t care whether it was raining or not, she just walked in the heavy rain. In the vast sea of rain, she couldn’t see anything, only a white blur.
Ji Xiangyu didn’t come, was it because of his injury or a misunderstanding between her and Xia Yang?
In a short while, she was completely soaked. She was immersed in her sorrow and didn’t notice when someone appeared beside her.
When she realized it, she was pulled into an embrace.
It wasn’t the familiar jasmine scent, but a faint smell of tobacco. She knew without guessing who it was, Xia Yang.
The only two men she knew were Xia Yang and Ji Xiangyu.
He ultimately didn’t come. Qing Tian felt so sad, wanting to cry. In Xia Yang’s embrace, she cried silently, her tears blending with the rain. This kind of weather was perfect for crying, because if no one noticed, you could cry to your heart’s content.
Xia Yang held Qing Tian, one hand gently stroking her back, and said comforting words, “Don’t cry, don’t cry…”
Qing Tian stopped crying, raised her head, and asked with red eyes, “Why are you here?”
Xia Yang sighed and looked at Qing Tian helplessly, “There’s a fool here waiting for someone for several hours. I couldn’t stand it, so I brought some food to give that fool the energy to keep waiting. Who knew that fool also wasn’t afraid of death and wanted to stand in the rain!”
Qing Tian looked at the KFC in Xia Yang’s hand and smiled.
No matter how heavy the rain, there was still someone named Xia Yang who would come to give her warmth, her good brother.
Qing Tian walked with Xia Yang in the rain, then straddled his heavy motorcycle and weaved through the rain.
Ji Xiangyu saw the two people embracing in the rain before he even turned off the engine. He slammed his hand hard on the steering wheel, feeling an unspeakable regret in his heart. Why was he always one step behind? Why?
Damn it, he felt like he really needed to let off some steam right now.
So he drove towards the bar he hadn’t visited in a long time.
