The teacher on the podium was discussing subject selection, but Qing Tian didn’t hear a single word. Her mind was filled with Ji Xiangyu’s kiss and confession. Being confessed to by someone you like should be a happy and joyful thing, but her heart felt even more chaotic. It was like holding happiness in her hands, only to feel it shatter the next moment!
While Qing Tian was in a daze, her mobile phone suddenly rang. She usually set it to vibrate, but for some reason, she hadn’t turned off the sound today. And at that precise moment, the classroom fell silent, making her phone’s ringtone exceptionally clear in the large room!
Qing Tian pretended to be calm and continued looking at the podium. The homeroom teacher didn’t dwell on it too much, saying, “This situation is not allowed to happen again. Next time it occurs, confiscating the phone will be a light punishment; we’ll directly call your parents!”
Below the podium, the students exchanged glances. No one knew whose seat the mobile phone ringtone was coming from, only that it was from Qing Tian’s general area.
Qing Tian had always been quiet in class, so naturally, no one suspected her. She thought she had escaped this time, but who knew the phone rang again. This time, Qing Tian really couldn’t pretend anymore. She looked at everyone with an apologetic expression and took out her mobile phone to turn it off!
Before turning it off, she glanced at the display. It was Ji Xiangyu. Her heart pounded so hard it almost jumped out of her chest. Why was he texting her at this time?
Looking at the phone she was turning off, she felt a sense of tragic disappointment at not being able to see it. Since everyone was looking at her, she had no choice but to reluctantly give up!
The teacher continued lecturing on the podium, but Qing Tian’s mind was preoccupied with the two text messages Ji Xiangyu had sent.
Finally, unable to bear the wait, she waited until class ended. Qing Tian then turned on her mobile phone and opened the messages. The first thing she saw were two messages from Ji Xiangyu.
The first message read: “Can we go eat at Xian Yu Xian after school? I’ll wait for you at the school gate!”
The second message was a supplement to the first: “I happen to have two opera tickets, they expire tonight. Let’s go after dinner!”
Qing Tian’s fingers touched the phone screen, her heart feeling incredibly nourished. Was this Ji Xiangyu’s invitation for a date? Was it too soon, asking her out right after confessing? Besides, she hadn’t agreed to be his girlfriend yet, had she?
Qing Tian felt she was being overly sentimental at this moment. Becoming Ji Xiangyu’s woman was something she had always dreamed of. Why was she being so sentimental now? She shook her head, feeling utterly speechless with herself!
She indulged in a bout of overthinking. When it was actually time to leave school, she didn’t dare to go to the school gate too quickly. Instead, she waited until everyone else in the class had left before picking up her schoolbag and walking out of the classroom!
Song Shishi happened to be coming downstairs with a few good sisters. Seeing Qing Tian, she immediately went over and said ingratiatingly, “Sister Qing, I’m going to the Entertainment City with Yawen and the others tonight. Remember to keep my secret when you get home!”
Qing Tian blinked in agreement. Song Shishi gave Qing Tian a kiss on the cheek before Qing Tian watched them leave and then departed herself!
As Qing Tian reached the corner, she felt like someone was following her. She looked back but saw no one. She quickened her pace downstairs, and the person behind her also sped up.
Qing Tian’s heart jolted, sensing something was wrong. She immediately ran downstairs, and the person behind her caught up. At a turn, she was overtaken. Just as she tried to see who it was, the person covered her mouth and nose with a square scarf. Qing Tian struggled to pry away the hands covering her. From the front, she could see they were hands belonging to a man: thick arms, long fingers, clearly the hands of a grown man.
Qing Tian couldn’t imagine who would want to harm her, and it was a man!
She struggled with all her might, trying to break free, but the disparity in strength made it impossible. Instead, her struggles left her completely weak.
By the time she felt the power of the anesthetic, it was too late. As Qing Tian fainted, she saw a figure watching her from downstairs, but she couldn’t make out their face before losing consciousness!
The Man in Black saw Qin Hailan standing at the bottom of the stairs, a slight smile curving his lips. He then slung Qing Tian over his shoulder and left without a word!
The moment the Man in Black disappeared, Xia Yang came down from upstairs. Seeing Qin Hailan, he said, “Ya Lan, didn’t I ask you to wait for me at the school gate?”
Qin Hailan looked thoughtfully in the direction the Man in Black had disappeared. Only when she was sure Xia Yang hadn’t seen anything did she say with relief, “I was just coming out too, so I decided to wait for you here. Let’s go!”
Xia Yang looked suspiciously in the direction Qin Hailan was gazing. Qin Hailan immediately stepped forward and linked her arm with his, saying, “Let’s go!”
Xia Yang continued to look suspiciously in that direction, but his steps followed Qin Hailan as they walked out of the school!
Tonight was Huzi’s birthday, and they were all gathering. As the boss, Xia Yang naturally had to attend!
As soon as they arrived at the school gate, they saw Ji Xiangyu waiting alone by his car!
Ji Xiangyu watched Xia Yang and Qin Hailan walk in, arm in arm. He couldn’t figure out who Xia Yang was actually with. Qing Tian and Xia Yang were intimate, and so was Qin Hailan. What kind of charm did Xia Yang possess that made every girl fall for him?
The moment Xia Yang and Ji Xiangyu’s eyes met, a strong electrical current seemed to crackle in the air!
Qin Hailan watched the two men locked in a silent confrontation, a smile playing on her lips. It seemed these two incompatible men were finally going to come to blows!
After Xia Yang and Qin Hailan left, Ji Xiangyu gazed at the road leading away from the school. There wasn’t a soul in sight. He anxiously dialed Qing Tian’s telephone call, but a stiff, mechanical female voice answered: “The number you have dialed is switched off. Please try again later!”
Ji Xiangyu looked at his mobile phone screen with doubt. It showed the call had been automatically disconnected. For some reason, he felt a profound sense of loss. Recalling Qing Tian’s words when he confessed to her that afternoon, he wondered if she didn’t like him enough!
He had sent her text messages, and she hadn’t replied. Now, when he called, her phone was off. Was she trying to avoid him?
All sorts of unease pounded in his heart like a drum!
