Chapter 137: Saving The Turtle
Lying on Big Brother’s shoulder, Yun Jiao yawned, her eyes blurry but still insisting on her diagonally slung small bag.
Yun Chenxi filled her small bag with several small mantou, two eggs, biscuits, fried dough twists, dried small shrimp, dried fish, and canned food.
It was a little heavy, but she carried it with ease.
“Let’s go, sleep on the boat.”
Yun Jiao yawned again and mumbled okay.
But in reality, she had already fallen asleep on Big Brother’s shoulder.
She had woken up too early today and hadn’t even eaten breakfast.
Upon arriving at the boat, she was placed in a basket, curled up inside, and a conical hat was placed over the basket, making her sleep even more soundly.
When Yun Jiao woke up, they were already at sea.
And Yun Linhai and the others had already cast a net.
This net was quite lucky, and they caught a net full of silver pomfret.
Silver pomfret sold for a bit more than golden pomfret, costing about fifty cents per jin.
While they were casting the second net, they saw Yun Jiao waking up.
“Jiaojiao is awake, there’s food in your bag, eat some breakfast yourself.”
Yun Jiao gave a “oh” and climbed out of the basket, sitting on the deck with her short legs crossed, watching her father and the others work.
She glanced at the sea, today’s luck was really good, they had encountered a school of silver pomfret passing by right after setting sail.
Yun Jiao finished her boiled egg and then gnawed on a mantou.
This mantou was steamed at home last night and had milk powder mixed in, giving it a milky fragrance and making it delicious.
After finishing breakfast and drinking water, Yun Jiao’s spirits also perked up.
It was time for her to work, today she had to find rare marine creatures to eat.
But her father and the others definitely wouldn’t agree to her going into the sea by herself.
So she tried to summon the orca pod.
Yun Jiao sat at the stern of the boat, her short legs dangling in the air, her mouth opening and closing as she made a sound similar to an orca’s call.
Orca pods could communicate with each other over long distances through different audio frequencies, and Yun Jiao’s voice was naturally audible to them.
After waiting for a while, Yun Jiao heard a sound from the orcas.
‘Human, wait… eat…’
‘Finished eating…’
Human ears could not pick up this kind of sound.
She listened for a while and roughly understood.
The orca pod was hunting, and the place was still a bit far, so it would definitely not reach here anytime soon.
Yun Jiao propped her chin on her hand. The orca pod might not come for a while, so maybe she should go fishing now?
“Dong dong…”
Something slapped against the boat.
Yun Chenxi also heard it and looked in the direction of the sound, discovering the familiar giant sea turtle.
“Jiaojiao, it’s that sea turtle.”
Yun Jiao looked over, the giant sea turtle’s front flipper was slapping the boat, it clearly recognized their boat.
Yun Jiao called out: “Here.”
The sea turtle swam towards her direction.
‘Go, save…’
Yun Jiao pondered for a moment before she clearly understood that it was asking for her help to save a friend.
“Father, I’m going into the sea with the sea turtle, it’s nearby.”
Father Yun admonished worriedly: “Don’t go too far.”
Yun Jiao: “Understood.”
With that, she eagerly jumped into the sea.
Yun Chenxi watched as she and the sea turtle sank into the sea, gradually disappearing from view.
“Where have you been for the past few days?”
Sea turtle: ‘Mating.’
Yun Jiao: Oh, looking for a wife.
Yun Jiao swam with the sea turtle for a considerable distance.
She suddenly realized that they seemed to be quite far from their boat.
Yun Jiao slapped the giant sea turtle: “Where is it, didn’t you say it wasn’t far?”
The giant sea turtle seemed wronged: ‘No, not far.’
Yun Jiao understood for a few seconds, then got angry and flipped the giant sea turtle over and spun it around.
“There was even a punctuation mark in the middle!”
It made her so angry.
But since they were already here, Yun Jiao kicked the dizzy giant sea turtle: “Hurry up.”
The giant sea turtle flapped its flippers with all its might, “Quick, quick, it’s very fast now!”
Finally, after swimming a bit further, Yun Jiao saw what needed to be helped.
It was another sea turtle, but it was trapped by a fishing net among the reef at the seabed.
Yun Jiao had brought a small pair of scissors with her when she came down, originally intending to open some sea urchins to eat if she found any, but now they were useful.
That sea turtle was clearly not the same species as their own.
Yun Jiao asked it: “Is this your wife?”
Turtle Turtle: ‘No.’
Of course not, how could it be its wife if they were different species.
There were quite a few barnacles on the shell of that giant sea turtle.
After dealing with the fishing net, Yun Jiao also used the scissors to clean the barnacles on its shell.
The freed sea turtle circled around Yun Jiao, conveying its joy and gratitude.
This sea turtle was much smaller than Turtle Turtle, likely still a young cub.
About the size of a basketball.
There were sea urchins nearby, so Yun Jiao opened two for it to eat.
Smelling the scent, the little sea turtle ate with incredible speed.
‘Hungry, hungry…’
It kept calling out that it was hungry in her ear, so Yun Jiao opened two more for it.
The sea turtle became even happier and circled around Yun Jiao, following her wherever she swam like a puppy.
Yun Jiao touched its turtle shell and thought that this sea turtle’s shell was quite good-looking, overall it was brownish-red, with ring-shaped patterns of varying shades, and some small light yellow spots, making it look quite colorful at first glance.
After eating the sea urchins, Yun Jiao also prepared to take some sea urchins back herself.
Of course, she hadn’t forgotten her true purpose in the deep sea.
“Found it!”
She saw two large tentacles.
Yun Jiao swam forward, grabbed the two large tentacles, and began to pull them out.
“Grit grit…”
When catching these large lobsters, they would make a “grit grit” sound when struggling.
The physique of this Painted Spiny Lobster, not including its tentacles, was longer than her small arm.
Let’s take it away.
She didn’t have a net bag, so she could only carry a limited amount.
Let’s go back first.
“Let’s go, I’m going back.”
The giant sea turtle naturally followed behind her.
The smaller one also caught up, rubbing against Yun Jiao’s face like a puppy.
Yun Jiao quite liked this enthusiastic little fellow.
She even specially caught two jellyfish for it to eat.
The little sea turtle ate ravenously, just like when it was eating sea urchins before.
“How long have you been trapped?”
It ate even more fiercely than her.
The little sea turtle had some intelligence, but it was too young to express itself, let alone calculate how many days it had been trapped.
‘Hungry…’
It could only express this one emotion.
Yun Jiao caught it another small jellyfish, and only then did it eat its fill and slowly followed beside Yun Jiao.
As they reached the side of the boat, Yun Jiao could already hear her father and the others calling her.
She felt a little guilty.
She kicked the giant sea turtle again.
“It’s all your fault.”
The giant sea turtle: ……
“Father, I’m here.”
Seeing Yun Jiao pop her head out, Yun Linhai and the others finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“Didn’t you say you were nearby? Why did it take so long?”
Yun Linhai leaned over the boat and helped her up.
Yun Jiao pointed at the giant sea turtle: “It’s all its fault, it didn’t convey the information properly.”
The giant sea turtle looked at the people on the boat with a hint of sadness.
