Chapter 57: Pathological Madness
Unknowingly, I fell asleep, I don’t even know when the chariot stopped.
I was woken up by the great lion licking me.
The lion’s tongue has barbs, its teeth and mouth are well-cared for, it doesn’t stink, it just hurts.
Qin Wanwan’s tender skin had red marks all over it from the licking.
She sat on the soft couch, covering her little face, still a bit dazed from not being fully awake, but she was angry.
The great lion affectionately rubbed its head against her hand, like a super-large kitten.
It even exposed its soft belly.
Qin Wanwan stepped on it with her feet, it was soft!
I don’t know if it’s because she slept a bit too long at noon, but Qin Wanwan felt a bit weak all over.
Daddy wasn’t here, she lay lazily on the great lion’s back, her small hands grasping the lion’s mane and whining.
“Looking for Daddy.”
She was completely boneless.
The great lion understood and steadily carried Qin Wanwan out of the chariot.
Keke quickly followed.
The little black snake had already climbed onto the bed and continued to pester Qin Wanwan when Shang Wuyang left.
The sun in the desert was exceptionally dazzling. As soon as they got out of the chariot, Qin Wanwan buried her face in the lion’s body, it was a bit blinding.
After adjusting, just as she was about to look up for Daddy, she heard a chilling scream.
She shivered and looked around in panic.
Then she saw her own crazy father.
Shang Wuyang, dressed all in red, stepped on a man, his jade-white hand holding the man’s hair and lifting his head, the other hand raised a dagger.
Bright red blood sprayed out, staining Shang Wuyang’s mask, even his exposed, good-looking chin, and his hands were covered in a dazzling red.
Yet he was smiling, the corners of his blood-red lips curled into a very obvious smile, with a hint of pathological madness.
Like a Rakshasa emerging from hell.
Someone immediately handed him a handkerchief.
Shang Wuyang took it, threw away the dagger, and slowly wiped his fingers.
“Dirty.”
He was clearly disgusted by the blood.
He looked up in Qin Wanwan’s direction.
Qin Wanwan: “!!!”
She quickly and timidly buried her little head, Daddy looked a bit scary just now!
“What, scared?”
Not long after, a familiar voice came from above.
Shang Wuyang had returned to his lazy demeanor, a completely different person from the madman who had just been killing.
“You will encounter many such things in the future, do you still want to follow me?”
Shang Wuyang’s lazy voice carried a hint of coldness.
He didn’t expect the child to answer and threw away the blood-stained handkerchief.
“Uninteresting.”
Just as he was about to leave, Shang Wuyang’s sleeve was grabbed.
He looked down and saw that Qin Wanwan’s fingers were pinching his sleeve, he didn’t know when.
“Daddy, don’t hit me, Wanwan is afraid of pain.”
She stealthily revealed half of her little face.
After a moment of silence, Shang Wuyang chuckled, “Why would I hit you.”
Qin Wanwan mumbled, “But you looked super fierce just now.”
As long as he didn’t hit her, Qin Wanwan straightened her small body slightly.
“Are those the bad guys who wanted to kill Daddy yesterday?”
Qin Wanwan wanted to take another look but her eyes were covered by a hand.
Her small body moved and fell into a familiar embrace.
Daddy still smelled fragrant, but there was also a hint of blood.
“How are you so sure I’m not that bad guy?”
Qin Wanwan patted her chest, “Wanwan is little and doesn’t need to reason, I think Daddy is a good person, and that’s that.”
What a way to not need to reason, Shang Wuyang was amused by her words and let out a low chuckle.
They returned to the chariot. Qin Wanwan thought they were going back, but she didn’t expect the chariot to take them further away.
“Daddy, where are we going?”
Qin Wanwan lay next to the great lion, watching the elephants walk in the desert.
This area was not sandy, but mostly rocky wasteland, but there was a flat road suitable for elephants to travel on.
“Going somewhere for fun.”
He had already taken off his mask, washed his hands and face with scented soap, and put the clean mask back on.
Qin Wanwan leaned over to smell.
“Daddy’s clothes have it too.”
Shang Wuyang hummed, “We’ll bathe when we get back.”
The place they went to this time was a bit far, even beyond the oasis.
Qin Wanwan got bored in the chariot and climbed onto the elephant’s back.
The elephant clearly liked Qin Wanwan very much, coiling her with its trunk and playing around.
It even wanted to push off the zookeeper on its back to let Qin Wanwan experience riding an elephant alone.
Zookeeper: …
However, even with the zookeeper, it wasn’t a problem. Qin Wanwan could even reach the elephant’s curved tusks.
Her laughter was as crisp as silver bells, sounding particularly lively and cheerful in the desert.
Shang Wuyang inside the chariot was eating apple slices on a bamboo skewer, a shallow smile on his purple eyes.
After about three hours of travel, they finally reached their destination.
“City Lord!”
Someone called from outside. Qin Wanwan poked her little head out of the chariot.
The middle-aged man in grey short-sleeved clothes immediately met the little one’s gaze.
Middle-aged man: “Who is this?”
Qin Wanwan retracted her little head again.
Shang Wuyang came out.
The middle-aged man excitedly said, “City Lord, we’ve dug up some good stuff recently, do you want to take a look?”
Qin Wanwan followed behind Shang Wuyang, her feet moving quickly.
The middle-aged man couldn’t help but look at her again. Although he was puzzled, he didn’t say anything.
“Let’s go take a look.”
As soon as the two of them got off, someone immediately held up a canopy similar to what the emperor used to shade them.
However, the emperor’s used yellow, symbolizing his status, while Shang Wuyang’s used black.
Black provided better shade.
There were quite a few loose stones along the way, and Qin Wanwan’s legs were short, so she couldn’t keep up.
She simply found a ride.
That’s right, it was the great lion.
The middle-aged man’s eyes widened.
To dare to ride the City Lord’s pet lion!
Although Big Goldy is a pet, it is also a veritable beast.
Shang Wuyang also liked the wildness of fierce beasts, so he kept the lion without taming its wild nature.
This lion had killed people with Shang Wuyang.
Apart from Shang Wuyang and the zookeeper responsible for feeding it, bathing it, and grooming it, others could not get close.
This was the first time they had seen someone ride on the back of the Lion King.
That’s right, although this lion’s name was Big Goldy, besides the City Lord, no one else dared to call it that; they had to call it the Lion King.
What was the relationship between this little girl and the City Lord!
The further they walked, the more people there were.
Qin Wanwan saw many people digging for stones.
This reminded her of the people digging for silver mines she had seen with the bandits before.
The biggest difference was that those people were emaciated, their faces full of numbness and despair.
These people, however, were strong, and apart from their dark skin, their muscles were particularly prominent, they were very large, and they still had smiles on their faces.
