Chapter 141: Annie And Youyou Leaned Over And Hugged Her
Jiang Yuan and Xiao Xu drove to the ecological farm together.
She called Meng Xiaokai in advance, and Meng Xiaokai happened to be coming out as the car stopped.
He held the little mouse Jieli in his palm from inside the car, turned, and handed him to Jiang Yuan.
“Thank you,” Jiang Yuan said, taking Jieli, the little mouse, with her jacket. “How are things with you all?”
Meng Xiaokai: “Don’t worry, it’s almost taken care of.”
“Okay,” Jiang Yuan nodded. “Then I’ll take Jieli to see the doctor first.”
“Alright,” Meng Xiaokai looked at Xiao Xu. “You go with Jiang Yuan.”
“Got it,” Xiao Xu agreed. “You two be careful.”
The nearest pet hospital was seventeen kilometers away.
All the way, Jiang Yuan was comforting Jieli, the little mouse. “Little Jieli, does it hurt?”
Jieli, the little mouse, replied, “It hurts a little… but I can bear it.”
Jiang Yuan frowned and said softly, “Don’t be scared, we’re almost at the pet hospital.”
Xiao Xu sped up a bit.
They arrived at the entrance of the pet hospital. Xiao Xu went to find parking, while Jiang Yuan hurried into the pet hospital with Jieli, the little mouse.
The front desk heard the wind chime and looked up to see someone arrive. She stood up and smiled, “Hello, how can I help you?”
Jiang Yuan said urgently, “Hello, my mouse was hit by a stool, and it’s in a lot of pain. I want to get an X-ray to check if it has a fracture or internal organ damage.”
“Okay,” the front desk nodded. “I’ll register you now. What’s the mouse’s name?”
“Jieli.”
“Okay,” the front desk handed over a form. “Please scan the code to pay and then wait by the X-ray room for your number to be called.”
As the words fell, she stared at the mouse Jiang Yuan was holding, and a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes. “This is the mouse you raised?”
Isn’t this the smelly common shrew that everyone on the street wants to catch?
“Yes,” Jiang Yuan took out her phone, scanned the code to pay, and turned towards the X-ray room.
The front desk watched her back, her eyes full of doubt.
What was this girl thinking, not raising any pet mice but choosing to raise a common shrew?
Xiao Xu parked the car and came to find Jiang Yuan.
When the veterinarian saw Jieli, the little mouse, being taken into the X-ray room, he was also taken aback. “This… this is your common shrew?”
“Not exactly mine to raise,” Jiang Yuan said lightly. “Please examine it first.”
“Okay,” the veterinarian said nothing more and took Jieli, the little mouse, for the examination.
Jiang Yuan and Xiao Xu waited outside.
After the X-ray, the veterinarian said that Jieli was injured by the impact, had internal organ damage, and needed to be hospitalized for observation.
“Okay,” Jiang Yuan nodded slightly. “Then please proceed with the hospitalization.”
She looked at Jieli and said softly, “Little Jieli, stay here and recuperate obediently. You don’t need to be afraid.”
“I understand,” Jieli responded weakly. “Yuan Yuan, don’t worry about me.”
“You’re amazing,” Jiang Yuan said after paying the hospitalization fee, and then she and Xiao Xu returned to the police station.
On the road, she received a phone call from Si Heng.
“Jiang Yuan, I heard from Xiaokai that a mouse was injured. How is it?” he asked from the other end of the phone.
Jiang Yuan replied gently, “Jieli has internal organ damage and is staying at the pet hospital for observation.”
Si Heng: “Okay, are you still at the pet hospital?”
“We’re on the way back to the police station. What about you all?”
“Same here, see you later.”
Several police transport vehicles brought the rescued wildlife back to the police station.
Jiang Yuan immediately went to look for the macaque baby Youyou.
She found Youyou in one of the vehicles.
It was confined in a cage, its small body trembling.
Jiang Yuan had someone take the cage down.
After the cage was opened, Youyou remained huddled inside, motionless.
Jiang Yuan squatted in front of the cage and said as gently as possible, “Hello Youyou, I’m a friend of your mother Annie.”
“Mom…” Youyou mumbled, looking at her, and asked cautiously, “Where is Mom?”
Jiang Yuan said softly, “Annie has been looking for you. Shall I take you to find her?”
“Really?” Youyou’s eyes were full of unease. “Will you lie to Youyou?”
Jiang Yuan: “No, I won’t lie to you. What can I do to make you believe me?”
Youyou blinked, and its fluffy little body slowly moved out. “Youyou… Youyou believes you.”
Jiang Yuan’s gaze brightened, and she extended her hand to it. “Thank you.”
She held Youyou in her arms and asked, “After the bad guys took you, were you kept in a cage the whole time?”
“Yes,” Youyou nodded its little head. “It was so scary, and they even took Youyou to a human’s house.”
Jiang Yuan frowned slightly, puzzled. “What did they take you to a human’s house for?”
Recalling the event, Youyou still felt scared, and its small body began to tremble slightly.
“They wanted to eat Youyou…”
“Don’t be scared, don’t be scared,” Jiang Yuan gently stroked it with her palm. “You’re safe now.”
“Youyou knows,” it rubbed its fluffy head against Jiang Yuan. “You’re a good human, and you smell nice.”
“Is that so?” Jiang Yuan smiled and continued to ask, “What happened next? How did Youyou leave the human’s house?”
Youyou said, “Some humans were quarreling, seemingly over money, and then they took Youyou away again.”
Jiang Yuan guessed that the parties couldn’t agree on a price.
Fortunately, they didn’t agree, otherwise Youyou would probably be…
After a while, Youyou asked softly, “When can you take Youyou to find Mom?”
“I can take you there right now,” Jiang Yuan said, holding it as she walked into the office.
Si Heng had just come out of the interrogation room and saw her holding a baby macaque. “Is this Youyou?”
“Yes,” Jiang Yuan nodded. “I’m taking it to the wildlife protection base to find Annie now.”
Si Heng heard this, glanced at his wristwatch, and said, “It’s ten o’clock, a bit late. I’ll go with you.”
“It’s okay,” Jiang Yuan said. “You still have people to interrogate. I can go by myself.”
“No,” Si Heng was worried about her driving such a remote road alone. “I’ll have Xiao Xu and Chen Ziqi go with you.”
Seeing his insistence, Jiang Yuan agreed, “Okay.”
The three of them drove to the wildlife protection base.
Annie cried with tears in her eyes when she saw her baby macaque, Youyou.
The mother and child hugged and cried for a long time.
Xiao Xu, watching this scene, couldn’t help but cry. “So touching.”
She turned to look at Jiang Yuan and choked out, “Jiang Yuan, you’re amazing!”
“It’s not me who’s amazing,” Jiang Yuan’s eyes were also a little moist, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips. “Everyone is amazing.”
“Don’t be so modest,” Xiao Xu affectionately put her arm around Jiang Yuan. “In my opinion, you’re super amazing.”
Chen Ziqi also said softly, “I think so too.”
Xiao Xu smiled. “Jiang Yuan, did you hear that? Ziqi also thinks you’re super amazing.”
Annie brought her baby Youyou to Jiang Yuan.
Jiang Yuan squatted down to look at them and said with a smile, “From now on, be happy, and no more crying.”
“Yuan Yuan…” Annie and Youyou rushed to hug her. “Thank you!”
