Chapter 111: This Is Madam Su Wan!
“Hello, Dao Dao.” Jiang Yuan said softly, “Can you come out and chat with me? I’ll treat you to a grand feast in a moment.”
“Are you only treating me, an ant?” Dao Dao asked.
Jiang Yuan smiled: “I’m treating all of you ants to a grand feast together.”
Dao Dao was quite satisfied with this answer. It crawled to the rim of the bottle, poked its head out to observe its surroundings, and its gaze finally locked onto Jiang Yuan.
“Excuse me, our ant eyesight isn’t very good,” Dao Dao said shyly.
Jiang Yuan nodded in understanding: “It’s okay, Dao Dao. What was the situation when you said you were bothered while eating a late-night snack that night?”
“It happened like this.” Dao Dao recalled.
That night, the sky was dark, and the moon was shrouded by dark clouds. Su Mei and Kang Chengye were quarreling in the garden.
“Why are you so vicious?” Kang Chengye grabbed Su Mei’s neck, his eyes bloodshot, gritting his teeth. “Su Wan is your biological sister, how could you do this to her?”
Su Mei’s breathing became difficult, and her cheeks flushed red.
She stared at Kang Chengye, whose face was full of anger, and sneered, “I’m vicious? Kang Chengye, touch your conscience and tell me, are you more heartless, or am I more vicious? You forced me to do all this!”
“You…” Kang Chengye was furious, and he tightened his grip on her neck. “Su Mei, you’re looking for death!”
“Then kill me.” Su Mei lifted her chin provocatively. “Kill me to avenge your beloved woman, and let everyone in Yun Jing know that your wife killed the one you love, and you killed your wife!”
For a moment, Kang Chengye truly wanted to kill Su Mei.
He angrily threw her to the ground and, lowering his voice, growled, “You poisoned someone to death, how are you going to handle this now?”
“That’s not a problem I should consider.” Su Mei said with a sarcastic expression. “You figure out how to handle it yourself.”
After saying that, she got up from the ground, dusted off her clothes, and walked into the main building of the villa, leaving Kang Chengye, who was furious.
He paced back and forth irritably, his gaze finally falling on the flower bed nearby.
Kang Chengye exhaled an angry breath, turned, and walked into the villa. He told a few servants to leave, moved the flowers out of the flower bed, and dug out the soil.
He turned back to Su Wan’s room and saw the woman lying on the bed, her face pale and lifeless. Sadness appeared in his eyes.
Kang Chengye squatted by the bed, holding the woman’s hand, and said softly, “Wan Wan, I’m sorry, I harmed you.”
Su Mei stood at the room door, watching this scene, her eyes full of sarcasm. “You’re truly devoted.”
Kang Chengye’s face immediately fell. “Su Mei, stop being sarcastic!”
Su Mei’s lips curved upwards, and she said proudly, “What can you do to me? Go and report me to the police, let everyone know I killed someone because of you.”
“Get out!” Kang Chengye scolded.
Su Mei sneered and turned away.
Kang Chengye looked at Su Wan for a long time before reluctantly picking her up.
He carried Su Wan to the flower bed, placed her inside, and buried her in the soil with red-rimmed eyes, replanting the flowers.
After listening to the little ant Dao Dao’s story, Jiang Yuan said softly, “We overlooked the flower bed that night.”
“Su Mei was so enthusiastic because she was worried we would discover their secret,” Si Heng analyzed sternly. “She wanted to mislead us and make us dismiss our suspicions of her.”
Jiang Yuan said to the little ant Dao Dao, “Thank you, Dao Dao. What do you and your little friends want to eat?”
The little ant Dao Dao and its friends excitedly started discussing, “We want to eat honey and sugar water.”
“Okay.” Jiang Yuan asked Si Heng to stop at the nearest convenience store or supermarket. “I’ll buy some food for the little ants.”
Si Heng: “Okay.”
After Jiang Yuan bought food for the little ants, she released them.
She and Si Heng returned to the police station and held a meeting with their colleagues to discuss.
Su Mei returned to the villa, and the servant told her that Jiang Yuan had visited with her boyfriend today.
She glanced at the gift box on the coffee table and said lightly, “What did she say?”
The servant informed her of the entire situation.
Su Mei said “Oh,” raised her hand to rub her neck, and went upstairs.
The next morning, Si Heng and his colleagues from the criminal investigation team returned to Su Mei’s villa.
They were wearing uniforms. Seeing this, the servant’s expression became a little flustered.
She stepped forward, “Officers, may I ask what this is about?”
Si Heng’s expression was stern: “Are Su Mei and Kang Chengye at home?”
The servant answered truthfully: “Madam is at home, but Mister hasn’t returned.”
Si Heng showed his identification card and search warrant. “After police investigation, we suspect Ms. Su Mei of murder, and Kang Chengye was an accomplice responsible for hiding the corpse.”
The servant looked shocked: “H-how is this possible?”
Si Heng didn’t say anything more to her and directly signaled his team members to act.
The criminal investigation team members took out their tools and began to clear the flowers from the flower bed.
The servant froze for a second, then hurried to turn and rush into the main building of the villa.
“What?” The lipstick in Su Mei’s hand clattered onto the dressing table. Her pupils contracted, and her face was full of disbelief.
They had actually discovered it?
Su Mei’s heart was in a panic, but she tried hard to stay calm.
She took a deep breath, put on her coat, and hurried downstairs.
The flowers in the flower bed where Su Wan was buried had already been moved. Su Mei felt a throbbing in her temples.
“What are you doing?” She quickly stepped forward and stopped the criminal investigation team, her tone unfriendly. “These are flowers I carefully cultivated, how can you do this?”
Si Heng glanced at her and warned in a low voice, “Ms. Su Mei, this is a search warrant. Please do not obstruct police work.”
“My flowers!” Su Mei cried out, on the verge of a breakdown. “You ruined my flowers!”
“You can’t do this!” She jumped into the flower bed and shouted, “Who told you to touch my flowers?”
Si Heng smirked and said, “Are you nervous about your flowers, or are you afraid that Su Wan in the flower bed will be discovered?”
“W-what are you talking about?” Su Mei’s gaze flickered, and she feigned confusion. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Si Heng: “Ms. Su Mei has fallen. Help her up.”
“Yes, we’ll help Ms. Su right away.” Meng Xiaokai and Chen Ziqi immediately understood and together lifted Su Mei, who had lunged into the flower bed, out.
“Let me go!” Su Mei struggled and said sharply, “Don’t touch my flower bed!”
The servant watched with surprise. It was the first time she had seen her mistress lose her composure like this.
Meng Xiaokai supported Su Mei, while Chen Ziqi continued to dig the soil in the flower bed with his colleagues.
Soon, a human hand emerged from the soil.
“Ah!” The servant cried out in terror.
As the soil in the flower bed lessened, a pale, blue corpse was gradually exposed in the air.
“This is…” The servant covered her mouth in disbelief.
This was Ms. Su Wan!
Seeing this, Su Mei despaired and closed her eyes.
Si Heng turned to look at her and asked sternly, “Ms. Su Mei, why is there a corpse under your carefully cultivated flowers?”
Su Mei pressed her lips together and said slowly, “How would I know? I only just found out now that there’s a corpse in the flower bed.”
