Chapter 67:
It rubbed him all fired up.
Meng Shuyou’s ears grew slightly hot, “I didn’t do it on purpose.”
He shifted his leg, pressing forward, “What do you say we do now? Hm?”
The ending tone rose, teasing, ambiguity growing.
Meng Shuyou clearly felt his change, wanting to hide but nowhere to hide, her voice somewhat panicked, “You… can’t do this…”
He asked nonchalantly: “Do what?”
Meng Shuyou lowered her eyes, her lashes trembling fiercely, “It’s morning now.”
“That’s exactly why, it’s morning.” Pei Yuzhou pinched her chin and lifted it, his gaze fixed, “Hasn’t it been a whole month already?”
Calculating the time, today marked exactly one month.
Meng Shuyou’s fingertips curled up, “But this is someone else’s home, it’s not quite appropriate…”
“It isn’t quite.” Pei Yuzhou pressed her back, “Then figure out a way to handle it yourself.”
“I…”
How else could she handle it, like last time?
Just recalling it made her blush furiously.
–
They got up an hour late.
Meng Shuyou fled from the bed, running back to the next room without looking back.
Facing the bathroom mirror, the flush on her face lingered.
Her wrist ached, the burning sensation in her palm lingering.
Her thoughts halted; she couldn’t think about it anymore.
She took off her wrinkled clothes and went into the shower to bathe.
Breakfast was delivered to the room by the servant as usual.
After eating, she started packing her things.
The two o’clock airplane back to America, Mister Pei said to depart for the airport around ten.
A knock sounded at the door.
She set down what she was doing and went to open the door.
William stood in the doorway, greeting her warmly, “Good morning, Elara.”
“Good morning.” Meng Shuyou now felt a bit apprehensive seeing him, “Is there something you need from me?”
“I have something to give you.” William took out the picture frame hidden behind him.
It was a sketch portrait, the person in it clearly her, the portrayal of light and shadow vivid, the lines smooth and clean, lifelike.
Meng Shuyou was surprised, “You drew me?”
“Mm, the moment I first saw you that day, I was filled with inspiration; you’re the most beautiful Eastern girl I’ve ever seen.” William smiled, “But this painting doesn’t capture even a tenth of your real beauty.”
Meng Shuyou politely declined, “I appreciate the thought, but I can’t accept the painting.”
William was puzzled, “Why? Aren’t we friends?”
She hesitated, “I have no reason to accept your gift, William.”
“No reason needed; you gave me inspiration, I should be thanking you.” William said: “It’s just a painting, not expensive. For the sake of me painting it all day, just take it.”
Meng Shuyou hesitated for a long time, finally nodding, “Alright, thank you for the painting.”
William’s lips curved up, “You’re welcome.”
He had no other wish, only hoping she’d occasionally think of him when seeing this painting.
“Then I won’t disturb you, wish you all the best.”
Meng Shuyou took the picture frame, “You too, all the best.”
After William left, she closed the door and looked down at the sketch.
She could feel the painter had put heart into it; the facial expressions and details were handled perfectly.
But soon she started worrying.
She’d thought it could fit in the suitcase, but misjudged; the picture frame was a bit too big and wouldn’t fit at all.
Before she could think of what to do, the knocking sounded again.
She hurriedly set down the painting and went back to the door to open it.
Mark was at the door; he asked: “Miss Meng, are you packed? We should go.”
“Right away, give me a moment.”
“Okay.”
Meng Shuyou thought for a moment and asked for his help, “Could you find me a bigger bag, about 30×45, I have a painting to take with me.”
