Chapter 127: Jiang Yan Awakens
Xie Jingyan walked upstairs without changing his pace.
Until the safety door opened and he entered the room, he went to his own room and looked at that direction just now from behind the curtains.
The streetlights were dim, and Xie Jingyan didn’t notice anything unusual.
He frowned. No one? Was it his illusion?
After observing for a few more minutes, Xie Jingyan lay back on the bed, but he tossed and turned and couldn’t fall asleep.
He placed his hand on his forehead, recalling the events at the hospital, and his expression suddenly became somewhat ashamed and annoyed.
He was crazy!
This was the third time he kissed Jiang Ning.
The first time he kissed her, he remembered those days of their online relationship. Jiang Ning would say to him almost every day that she wanted to kiss him, wanted to hug him, that he was her sweet little mochi.
That little mouth was as sweet as if it were coated with honey, praising him from embarrassment to taking it for granted, brainwashing him until he was entranced, and inexplicably feeling that he was indeed very cute as she said, irresistible to her.
So he wanted to know if kissing was really as Jiang Ning described, sweet and soft, and for that he even got slapped.
The second time was under the influence of alcohol, plus she refused their dinner party invitation and instead skipped class to eat out with Wei Jin. He was extremely displeased, super displeased, very unhappy.
How was he inferior to Wei Jin?
Jiang Ning had said she loved only him, but then gave some inexplicable reason to block and delete him, just to let another man take his place?
Wishful thinking!
He didn’t agree, so she couldn’t shake him off.
So in a moment of impulse, he kissed Jiang Ning.
That time the situation was quite serious too.
Jiang Ning was so angry that she bit him.
His shoulder still bore her tooth marks now.
The third time was a sneaky kiss, very inexplicable, like a thief kissing her.
Xie Jingyan suddenly sat up from the bed, grabbed his hair with his hand, and muttered to himself like cursing: “You’re really sick, aren’t you? Crazy? You actually did something like that.”
Fortunately, no one saw it at the time, and probably no one would check the surveillance camera.
Xie Jingyan breathed a sigh of relief. If this got out, his reputation would be ruined.
He lay down again, closed his eyes, and his mind was full of Jiang Ning’s face: her puffing up her cheeks glaring at him, being left speechless and annoyed by his words, and the scene of her laughing heartily.
Xie Jingyan quickly shook these images out of his mind and tried to think of something else to fall asleep.
Right… competitive mathematics…
Competitive mathematics results are coming out.
On the way to competitive mathematics, there was Jiang Ning too.
Xie Jingyan sat up again, looking irritated at the dark room.
It was all Jiang Ning’s fault, disturbing his sleep and making him extremely alert now.
So he turned on the light, put on a piece of clothing, sat at the desk, and began studying.
Studying shouldn’t lead to random thoughts, right?
When he came back to his senses, he found he had organized a full page of problems for Jiang Ning to do, with detailed annotations written.
Xie Jingyan flung the pen away and silently looked at his two hours of effort, all prepared for Jiang Ning.
He rubbed his brow. He was really freaking entranced.
He sat until six in the early morning before flipping onto the bed to sleep.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ning had arrived at the villa last night at three in the early morning. She simply washed up and went straight to sleep.
Because Jiang Yan was still in the hospital, at eight o’clock, Jiang Ning forced herself to get up, yawning as she sat in the living room waiting for Father Jiang and the others to return, preparing to go to the hospital together later to check on Jiang Yan’s condition.
Sitting there, she dozed off again.
……
Private hospital near Phoenix Mountain Scenic Area.
Su Wanyuan had stayed by Gu Lanli’s bedside all night.
He had nothing serious, just caught a cold leading to transient shock. Because Su Wanyuan got him to the hospital in time, he woke up the next morning.
Gu Lanli opened his eyes, his mind foggy. It took several minutes to figure out his current situation.
He moved his fingers, and the next second they were enveloped in a warm palm. He turned his head and saw Su Wanyuan looking at him with red eyes: “Lanli, are you okay? You scared me to death. Good thing you woke up.”
Gu Lanli blinked slowly, licked his dry lips, and his voice was hoarse: “What happened to me?”
“Don’t you remember? Yesterday we were going to Phoenix Mountain to see the meteor shower, then it rained, and you fainted on the ground because it was too cold.”
Gu Lanli’s memory returned, and the near-death feeling made him shudder all over even now.
“You saved me and got me down the mountain?”
Su Wanyuan nodded and then suddenly shook her head: “Actually, last night I called Jiang Yan for help. He found us, then we found the cable car. Because your condition was very bad, I took you down the mountain first. Jiang Yan was freezing too and is now in the same hospital as you.”
Su Wanyuan’s words were ambiguous.
What Gu Lanli understood was that Su Wanyuan had saved him first and then gone back to save Jiang Yan.
His brows softened tenderly, and he sighed like someone who had survived a disaster: “Good thing you were there, or I would have died there. Wanyuan, you’ve saved me twice now. I don’t even know how to repay you.”
Su Wanyuan smiled faintly: “This is what I should do. Lanli, as long as you’re okay.”
Gu Lanli wasn’t unmoved.
Because of being saved, he selectively forgot that the person whose carelessness had caused this series of tragedies was Su Wanyuan.
“Thank you, Wanyuan. Meeting you in this lifetime is my greatest fortune. I certainly won’t let down your kindness to me.”
Su Wanyuan nodded with a smile, her gaze anxiously on the clock.
It was already eight o’clock.
It wouldn’t be long before the Jiang family arrived.
Su Wanyuan got up and poured a glass of water for Gu Lanli: “Lanli, drink some water. Later, let’s go see Jiang Yan together. He’s already been transferred from the intensive care unit to the general ward.”
Gu Lanli actually didn’t want to go, but seeing how worried Su Wanyuan was, he could only nod: “Okay.”
His legs were still weak and he couldn’t walk, so Su Wanyuan pushed him in a wheelchair.
She prayed in her heart that heaven would help her, so that the first person Jiang Yan saw upon awakening would be her.
Their hospital rooms weren’t far apart.
This floor was all VIP ward floors. Yesterday, before Jiang Ning left, she had already arranged Jiang Yan’s subsequent bed.
The hospital room door wasn’t locked.
There was a nurse station at the corridor entrance.
Only one nurse was working there.
Su Wanyuan directly pushed Gu Lanli inside. The space was very spacious. In the middle hospital bed, Jiang Yan lay with his eyes closed, still hooked up to tubes, with an IV in the back of his right hand.
Gu Lanli didn’t expect Jiang Yan to be this serious.
Worry emerged between his brows: “I hope he’s okay. Sigh, I never want to go to that mountain again. Without you, Jiang Yan and I would probably both be frozen corpses.”
Su Wanyuan said helplessly: “Don’t say silly things. With me here, I won’t let anything happen to you two.”
Her tone was regretful: “I was hoping to chat with Jiang Yan. Looks like we came for nothing.”
As soon as Su Wanyuan finished speaking, Jiang Yan’s fingertip moved.
Gu Lanli exclaimed: “Wanyuan, Jiang Yan woke up!”
Now, Old Xie couldn’t sleep at night and started reviewing: Do I care about her this much? Am I sick?
Future Old Xie: I’ve loved only you in my lifetime. Are you abandoning me to force me to die?
