Chapter 62: Nearly Broke Up
Jiang Ning was still at the pharmacy.
She removed the original gauze, but the blood from the wound wouldn’t stop flowing no matter what.
The female shop assistant was so scared her face turned pale.
“Little girl, your wound is so serious. If you keep bleeding like this, you’ll die.”
Jiang Ning’s face was pale from excessive blood loss, her head was dizzy, and her vision kept going black.
“Use the fastest method to stop the bleeding for me. I still need to take someone to the hospital.”
The female shop assistant was convinced: “Young people nowadays are too reckless. Go to the hospital as soon as possible to get it treated. If you delay any longer, it’ll be fatal.”
The female shop assistant applied hemostatic powder to Jiang Ning and then bandaged it.
Jiang Ning thanked her and hurriedly rushed to Jiang Yan.
But when she arrived at the spot, she was somewhat dumbfounded.
Where was her brother?!
Where had such a big brother like hers gone.
This place was dark and remote, and there weren’t many people outside. Without careful observation, she wouldn’t have noticed him at all.
Could he have been captured again by that deranged Huo Chengxuan?
Jiang Ning put one hand on her hip and furrowed her brows: “Little Honey, help me check Jiang Yan’s whereabouts.”
Little Honey: 【……Are you treating me like a dog? I still have to help you find people. I don’t have that function!】
Jiang Ning: “……What exactly are you useful for at critical moments?”
Little Honey: 【Hehe, the function of annihilating you.】
Jiang Ning: “……”
Can’t play, huh.
Always threatening annihilation at the drop of a hat.
Little Honey sighed and kindly comforted: 【Host, don’t worry. I’ve detected that Jiang Yan’s vital signs are stable. He was probably sent to the hospital by a passerby.】
Jiang Ning breathed a sigh of relief. That was good. Otherwise, with his scorching body temperature, a little more delay could have burned him into an idiot.
Little Honey turned into a light ball and stuck to Jiang Ning’s injured arm, muttering: 【You’re injured like this and still worrying about others. Go to the hospital quickly. The mission isn’t complete, the revolution hasn’t succeeded yet. I don’t want you to die so early.】
Jiang Ning’s voice was somewhat weak: “Got it.”
She found the nearest hospital.
The doctor saw her condition and gave her a scolding.
Jiang Ning kept her head down and didn’t dare make a sound.
It was finally ten-thirty at night by the time she got herself cleaned up.
Jiang Ning had called the driver in advance to go back, and she took a taxi back to the villa herself.
Fortunately, there was no one at home when Jiang Ning returned.
Otherwise, Madam Jiang would worry about her again.
Jiang Ning returned to her room and collapsed directly onto the bed.
She took out her mobile phone, struggled to open her eyes, and tapped into the messages Meng Jing had sent her.
Nine-thirty
Chunfen: 【I’m done with evening study session. Where are you?】
Nine-fifty
Chunfen: 【I’m home.】
Ten o’clock
Chunfen: 【Zhaozhao, did something happen again? Reply when you see the message.】
Ten-oh-five
Chunfen made a voice call, no answer.
Ten-ten
Chunfen: 【Are you going to talk or not? Are you playing with me? Not replying to messages, not picking up calls.】
Ten-twenty
Chunfen: 【Went to the hospital again? Does your hand hurt?】
Jiang Ning felt a rare pang of guilt upon seeing this.
Meng Jing was a senior in high school, yet he waited an hour for her reply.
She really didn’t have the energy to type.
She held the phone to her lips and tapped voice: “I just got back from the hospital. Don’t worry, I’m fine. Also, Meng Jing, without my permission, you’re not allowed to mention breaking up.”
She’d been reeling in this top grade for so long before he showed some promise. She couldn’t let him slip away just like that.
The other side immediately called her with a voice message.
Jiang Ning’s hand was so weak she almost couldn’t swipe to answer.
The youth’s low, husky, magnetic voice came through: “Ning Zhaozhao, you…”
He had originally wanted to say forget it.
He suspected he wouldn’t last until they met, because Ning Zhaozhao seemed busy every day.
He was always the one reaching out to her. She never told him when something happened. Even through the phone, he felt the distance was so far, and he wasn’t holding much hope.
Jiang Ning’s voice softened, humming and acting cute in a whiny voice, her eyelids heavy: “Meng Jing, it hurts so much, I’m so cold, so sleepy. It was an accident today. I won’t do it again next time. Don’t be angry, okay?”
By the end, Jiang Ning’s voice gradually grew smaller until only her steady breathing came through.
In the shabby rental room.
Xie Jingyan sighed helplessly.
The person on the other end had fallen asleep.
The words he wanted to say were swallowed back down.
Forget it.
There was still half a month until they met anyway. He’d talk then.
Hearing her pitiful whining, asking him not to be angry, his heart still couldn’t help but sink.
He was very worried about her, afraid something had happened to her, but they were so far apart that he couldn’t help her.
In the end, he softened his tone, exceptionally gentle: “Good night, Zhaozhao. Sweet dreams.”
The next day, Jiang Ning had a fever.
She lay in bed unable to get up and couldn’t go to school.
Madam Jiang didn’t even have time to argue with Father Jiang and hurried back to the villa to take care of her daughter.
Seeing Jiang Ning’s face deathly pale and her expression listless, Madam Jiang felt heartbroken and wiped away tears: “How did you end up like this in just one day?”
Jiang Ning didn’t dare say that she had torn open her wound yesterday.
She forced a smile to comfort Madam Jiang: “Maybe it’s because my constitution is weak. Once I’m better, I’ll exercise.”
Madam Jiang blamed herself: “It’s all my fault. I should have stayed home with you yesterday. I shouldn’t have gone back to my parents’ house.”
Jiang Ning tugged at her lips. She really had no energy to speak, her brows and eyes drooping: “Mom, stew me something to replenish blood. I’m a bit anemic.”
“Okay, okay.” Madam Jiang agreed repeatedly.
She went to stew donkey-hide gelatin.
Since she didn’t go to school, Jiang Ning had a whole day to chat with Meng Jing.
Don’t think she didn’t know—he had almost mentioned breaking up!
Meng Jing shared a photo of his canteen meal with her.
Jiang Ning stared at the canteen tables and chairs, lost in thought.
So familiar…
But…
Schools are all pretty much the same.
They chatted for a bit, then he had to go to class.
Jiang Ning sent him a heart and didn’t disturb him further.
Her mind began recalling last night’s events.
She wondered if Jiang Yan’s injury had improved.
He was probably still in the hospital now?
With his accident, Father Jiang should have received the news and gone to take care of his son.
Yesterday she had stabbed Huo Chengxuan’s hand. This grudge was now settled. Thinking of that super male, Jiang Ning also had a headache. As for that woman in black…
Jiang Ning finally had some impression.
During the national competitive mathematics preliminary contest, she had appeared at the entrance of Seventh Middle School, following behind a youth.
The youth had left alone in a luxury car, abandoning her there.
That youth was probably Huo Chengxuan.
And the woman following such a devil—just from how Huo Chengxuan had beaten her head yesterday, Jiang Ning felt she must have suffered a lot by that scumbag’s side.
But who was that woman…
Why had she helped her leave?
Jiang Ning couldn’t figure it out. Thinking too much made her exhausted, dizzy and blurry-eyed. Her physical fitness was indeed poor. Jiang Ning decided she needed to exercise from now on.
……
Jin Cheng People’s Hospital.
Su Wanyuan carried plain porridge in her hand. As she pushed open the hospital room door, she saw Jiang Yan already awake, staring blankly out the window. The youth’s profile was very handsome, his gaze indifferent, carrying a strong sense of world-weariness.
Hearing the noise, he turned his head. Seeing her, he smiled: “You’re here.”
Su Wanyuan shook her head helplessly, her tone heartbroken: “If I don’t come, who will take care of you? How can your family be so cold-blooded? Such a big incident and they don’t care at all.”
“You’ll get used to it.” He took the porridge.
His mind kept inappropriately thinking of Jiang Ning.
He kept feeling like he was sick, which was why he could still see Jiang Ning coming alone to find him in that situation.
But would Jiang Ning?
Jiang Yan gripped the spoon tightly.
He slowly asked: “Wanyuan, when you saw me yesterday, was there anyone else with me?”
Su Wanyuan shook her head quickly: “No, the surroundings were empty. You were lying by the roadside. You were probably thrown out from Zero Degree, and I happened to pass by. Seeing something was wrong, I rushed you to the hospital.”
“Is that so.”
The light in Jiang Yan’s eyes slowly dimmed.
