Chapter 14: Wild Boar
Zhou Wangshu looked at this pale-faced little young lady with a complex expression; she was clearly terrified but had run back to save him.
“You won’t run fast carrying me; we’ll both get caught then.”
“I can’t just let you die. Do I seem like someone so ungrateful?” Su Yaoguang said seriously. “I saved you; you absolutely can’t die here.”
At this moment, two people appeared ahead.
Jiang Yihui sat on a rock, holding a book in his hand. Xiao Yanci stood beside him, holding a water pot at the moment and pouring water for Jiang Yihui.
Hearing the commotion here, the two looked over. When they saw Su Yaoguang running with Zhou Wangshu on her back and a wild boar chasing tightly behind, their faces were full of shock.
Su Yaoguang ran toward Jiang Yihui’s direction carrying Zhou Wangshu.

Su Yaoguang went straight around from the side.
The wild boar lunged toward Jiang Yihui.

He pushed Xiao Yanci.
Xiao Yanci grabbed the cleaver beside him and chopped at the wild boar.
The wild boar sensed danger and dodged.
It was this dodge that saved Jiang Yihui and Xiao Yanci’s lives.
“Su Yaoguang!” Jiang Yihui shouted angrily. “What did you do?”
Su Yaoguang put Zhou Wangshu down.
She couldn’t run anymore either.
If it weren’t for these two unlucky guys here blocking it for her, that lunge just now would have gored both her and Zhou Wangshu’s bellies open.
“How is it my fault? I didn’t raise this thing; I’m a victim too, okay?” Su Yaoguang warily watched the wild boar in front of her. “Today it’s either him or us who dies.”
The wild boar lunged again.
Su Yaoguang met it head-on and chopped at the wild boar.
The wild boar neatly dodged.

Bang! Zhou Wangshu used the slingshot to stimulate the wild boar.
The wild boar felt pain and lunged toward Zhou Wangshu’s direction.
At this moment, Su Yaoguang leaped, flexibly mounting the wild boar’s back, and slashed at its neck.
The wild boar bucked wildly, trying to throw Su Yaoguang off.
Su Yaoguang tightly hugged the wild boar’s neck. When the wild boar tired of jumping and stopped, she swiftly, fiercely, and accurately chopped at its head.
“Roar roar…” The wild boar felt pain and grew even angrier.
However, its neck already had a knife wound; the more it bucked, the faster the blood sprayed.
Zhou Wangshu snatched the cleaver from Xiao Yanci’s hand, rushed over, and hacked at the wild boar’s neck. With the wild boar’s unwilling roar, its massive body slumped down.
Whew… Zhou Wangshu stopped and threw down the cleaver in his hand.
Su Yaoguang also got down from the wild boar’s back.
She sat on the ground and wiped sweat from her face, finding her hand covered in blood.
Jiang Yihui and Xiao Yanci stared blankly at the two.
Jiang Yihui came to his senses, straightened his trembling legs, and roared at Su Yaoguang: “Su Yaoguang, did you do that on purpose?”
“What did I do on purpose?” Su Yaoguang glared at him.
“You clearly saw us here just now; why did you lead the wild boar this way? If the wild boar attacked us, could we handle it?”
“Funny! I was in a life-or-death situation too; who cares if you could handle it? This was my escape route. Seeing the wild boar about to catch up, I temporarily changed course—I’m afraid the thought had just formed when the wild boar was already upon me, okay? In that situation, I had to keep to this path to escape. You’re the stupid one who didn’t move; should I be responsible for you too?”
“You you you… Women and petty people are hard to deal with.”

“You…” Jiang Yihui was furious but didn’t know how to retort. He glared at Xiao Yanci and cursed, “Are you mute? Say something!”
Xiao Yanci said calmly: “Young lady, that situation clearly meant you provoked the wild boar; we suffered unprovoked disaster. You should apologize to us and compensate for our losses.”
“If it were anyone else, I’d definitely apologize. But Jiang Yihui, our families’ grudge runs deep; if you want an apology, we’d have to hash it out properly. Should we start from before your mother and my mother married, or from when we were kids and you grabbed my fish in the river, nearly drowning me?”
Jiang Yihui’s face turned ugly.
“That hypocritical face of yours fools others but not me. Acting like an innocent victim— if it were you in that situation, you’d probably push me to block the wild boar! Oh, right, you just pushed him. Jiang Yihui, you’re as hypocritical as ever.” Su Yaoguang curled her lip. “No time to deal with you today; don’t come looking for a beating.”
Xiao Yanci fell silent.
This Jiang Yihui was indeed detestable; he wished someone would deal with him. Of course, this village girl was also detestable. Seeing her today, she was not only crude but also savage.
Luckily he hadn’t fallen into her hands; otherwise, with her personality, he didn’t know how much torment he’d suffer.
“Are you okay?” Su Yaoguang looked at Zhou Wangshu.
When speaking to Zhou Wangshu, she was clearly much gentler, like a different person.
Zhou Wangshu shook his head: “I’m fine.”

He said he was fine, but coughed badly.
Su Yaoguang said: “We’re going down the mountain now to have Doctor Lin check your wound again right away.”

Su Yaoguang grabbed the wild boar’s leg and dragged it straight down the mountain.
Jiang Yihui and Xiao Yanci watched her figure, their hearts pounding.

Zhou Wangshu said to Su Yaoguang: “The back basket is still on the mountain; I’ll go get it.”
Su Yaoguang waited in place for him. When he returned, she continued dragging the wild boar down the mountain.
“We’re going down the mountain too.” Jiang Yihui said, striding down the mountain.
Xiao Yanci carried a basket with Jiang Yihui’s books inside.
This Jiang Yihui was really sick, insisting on reading on the mountain, putting on airs. He’d seen his writing earlier; even the Xiao heirs who’d only studied a year outperformed him.
Yet he put on such airs, especially basking in others’ praise. Everyone in the village flattered him upon seeing him; outsiders would think he’d already earned an official position.
Still, this was an opportunity.
If he could impress him, maybe he could get back to the academy.
Xiao Yanci followed behind Jiang Yihui, his mind racing.
