Chapter 45:
The two avoided the servants and were alone inside admiring the flowers; even if they said their relationship was pure, no one would believe it.
However, everyone there had discerning eyes; even if they tasted something suspicious, no one would question it publicly.
Even Chen Ran just gave a cold laugh and said nothing.
Seeing him like this, the crowd suddenly realized that Young Master Lu, who had just broken off his engagement with the Xie Family Young Lady a while ago, was also here.
In that moment, the atmosphere became somewhat strange.
The bolder ones, out of curiosity, cautiously glanced sideways at this hot and powerful cold-faced Young Lord of the Capital City, but with one look, they were immediately scared into withdrawing their line of sight.
It was really that Lu Ziyan’s expression at this moment was too terrifying.
His gaze deadlocked on the brightly smiling girl, his eyes like sharp blades, sharp enough to see bone, as if waiting for her explanation.
Xie Wanning, however, acted as if it were nothing, only nodding slightly to the crowd and saying: “This place is very beautiful. Everyone take your time viewing; I’ll take my leave first and won’t keep you company.”
In the strange atmosphere, except for Cao Ying’er who smilingly said a couple of words to keep her, no one spoke.
Lu Ziyan gritted his teeth, gave Pei Yuqing one last glance, then turned and followed after her.
Pei Yuqing’s brow furrowed slightly; he didn’t want to socialize with these guests, yet a figure blocked his way.
“I’ve long heard Xuan’er say that in your estate’s Glazed Tile Flower Field, one can see all the famous flowers of the Capital City,” Cao Ying’er tilted her head up, smiling brightly as she asked: “I wonder if there is the Mandala Blue brought from the Western Regions?”
Pei Yuqing didn’t answer; he beckoned to a craftsman tending to a flower branch nearby and instructed: “Entertain the noble guest well.”
With that, he went around Cao Ying’er, whose smile suddenly stiffened, and walked out.
…………
Xie Wanning hadn’t walked far from the Glazed Tile Flower Field when she was stopped by Lu Ziyan.
His face was full of icy chill, his eyes deep and dark, yet his tone was still relatively calm: “Tell me, what were you two doing in there just now?”
Er Qing stepped forward and opened her mouth to scold: “Please make way, Young Master Lu…”
Before she finished speaking, Ming Jian behind Lu Ziyan quickly sealed her mute acupoint.
Xie Wanning hadn’t expected this master and servant to be so bold; her wrist had just raised to slap someone when it was grabbed by Lu Ziyan.
He seemed to contain ice, his voice carrying a chill: “Say it here, or change to another place?”
With that, without waiting for her reply, he looked around, then dragged her toward the nearby rockery.
Xie Wanning only felt her wrist gripped painfully; before she could react, her back was pushed against the rockery stone, the glaring sunlight blocked by the shadow brought by the man in front of her.
Lu Ziyan leaned down looking into her eyes, word by word: “You two were having a private meeting inside?”
“Let go of me!” Xie Wanning kicked at him, her voice angry: “We no longer have an engagement. Who I meet with, whether it’s a private meeting or not, has what to do with you!”
What relation…
Lu Ziyan’s knee bent, his body pressing closer, locking her legs so she couldn’t move; he reached out to grip her chin, lifting her face, and gave a cool smile: “Is this what you meant, that you have no entanglement with that old man?”
“You coaxed me into breaking off the engagement, then turned around and had a private meeting with this old man?”
By the end, his face completely lost control, his thin cool lips drawing near: “Hm? What did you two do inside?”
“Let go of me!” Xie Wanning desperately turned her head trying to avoid his approach, but her chin was caught in his palm, so she could only watch wide-eyed as he drew near, her voice trembling in fear: “Lu Ziyan, let’s talk this out properly!”
“What are you afraid of?” Lu Ziyan’s gaze fell on the girl’s red plump lips, his fingertip slowly rubbing for a moment; sensing her whole body shaking, he sneered coldly: “Wanwan forgot, you were very willing before.”
In those days when she was delighted with him and he with her beyond measure, this young lady wasn’t coy at all, openly displaying her affection.
When they were alone, whenever he wanted, he could have kissed her early on.
But he had always kept propriety, never crossing the line.
So what now?
All these years, the young lady he cherished at the tip of his heart was now having a private meeting in the flower room with another man.
What had that sickly person done to her?
Thinking of this, Lu Ziyan’s eyes suddenly turned icy cold.
His lips covered down.
Scorching breath pressed close.
Xie Wanning, still struggling, had her pupils suddenly dilate.
This kiss, carried with anger and originally meant to touch and separate, upon meeting her soft petal-like lips, deviated from its original purpose.
It became gentle.
Lu Ziyan’s breathing stuttered briefly; soon, the hand gripping her chin exerted slight force.
Irrepressible.
The instant her teeth were pried open, Xie Wanning came back to her senses, her pupils contracting slightly as she suddenly used force.
Lu Ziyan grunted, and both tasted the flavor of rust, faintly carrying a fishy sweetness.
His adam’s apple slid, and he finally stopped the siege.
As soon as the person in front retreated a bit, Xie Wanning raised her hand for a slap.
But this slap didn’t land as wished; midway, it was easily intercepted.
Lu Ziyan reached up to wipe the bloodstain at his lip corner and sneered coldly: “This angry? You’ve really changed your heart?”
“Right! I’ve changed my heart!”
Xie Wanning shoved him away fiercely, her voice amplified by anger: “Do you still think I’m that fool who liked you beyond measure?”
“Lu Ziyan, how many times do I have to say it for you to understand? I don’t like you anymore; we’ve broken the engagement!”
“I’ve changed my heart; now I like Pei Yuqing; I’m having a private meeting with him; and I’ll have private meetings with him in the future too!”
“Old man?” She mimicked his tone, his chillingly bone-piercing gaze, and sneered coldly too, enunciating clearly: “I just like old men, so what? Not allowed?”
‘Bang’ sound.
Xie Wanning shuddered; Lu Ziyan’s fist went past her right ear straight into the rockery behind her.
Some scattered stone fragments fell down.
His teeth ground with a crunching sound, veins bulging on his forehead, but his hand, aside from being slightly red, wasn’t injured.
His face was somewhat distorted, looking truly terrifying.
His eyes held no warmth, and he said darkly: “What you said was just angry words?”
Xie Wanning looked up at him, feeling that he had become extremely dangerous all over.
Her heart tightened, her gaze instinctively looking around.
This rockery cave could only fit two or three people; she was cornered, and Er Qing had also been sealed at the mute acupoint by Ming Jian, not knowing where she had been taken.
Who else would come looking for her…
If it were before, Xie Wanning wouldn’t even think about what Lu Ziyan might do to her here, but now…
She quickly steadied her mind, thinking a wise man doesn’t fight when the odds are against him, and was about to soften when she saw the person in front of her seem to notice something, his face changing slightly; right after, she also heard footsteps approaching, getting closer.
Until Pei Yuqing’s figure appeared at the cave entrance; Xie Wanning, who had been nervous enough to want to yield, had her eyes suddenly light up, making Lu Ziyan’s brow twitch violently.
Without looking back, he reached to grip the back of her neck, gritting his teeth: “Are you really doing this just to anger me?”
