Chapter 11: Summon Ghosts
Wrong.
The ritual is complete, but it won’t send the ghost away at all.
In the dim corridor, Little Lu quietly followed behind Lin Shuyue.
Her walking posture was still a bit stiff, probably because her body hadn’t recovered yet, but in Little Lu’s view, it was as if the ghost on her back was pressing down on her, making her unable to walk normally.
Cold sweat broke out on Little Lu’s forehead. She didn’t know if she should speak up to remind Lin Shuyue at this moment.
But what she wanted to know was already very clear.
“Where are the others?”
In the narrow corridor, Lin Shuyue, walking ahead, asked.
“They’re all carrying out the mission.”
Little Lu kept her head down, subtly increasing the distance between her and Lin Shuyue.
“I see. Besides you, is there anyone else who has completed the mission and can move freely?”
Free movement
Little Lu blinked her eyes; her line of sight was still somewhat unbalanced. One of her eyes showed no sign of recovering at all. Besides that, she didn’t dare to turn her head to look behind her.
Was this considered free movement?
She didn’t tell Lin Shuyue about her predicament but selectively answered, “Maybe Cen Duo, but I feel she’s not quite right.”
Little Lu didn’t plan to give false information to deceive Lin Shuyue, but she didn’t voice her guess.
It was originally just an Instinctual detection of something wrong, which, after stacking information, turned into a terrifying possibility.
Now, after getting the information from Lin Shuyue’s side, Little Lu’s guess in her mind about this platform mission was basically complete.
In her view, the focus of this mission wasn’t the ritual of the Ten Methods to See Ghosts at all.
Or rather, the ritual was important, but completing the ritual wasn’t.
As long as the ritual began, the ghost would appear.
Whether the ritual succeeded or failed, it was meaningless.
Because the purpose of this platform mission was to Summon Ghosts.
From the moment the ghost behind Lin Shuyue didn’t leave after she “completed the ritual” and, by all rights, had sent away the Cup Spirit, Little Lu had confirmed it.
Once a ghost is summoned, it can no longer be “driven away.”
So now, there was definitely still a ghost following behind her.
Right now, it was two living people and two ghosts traveling together.
“The train will arrive in a little over an hour, right?”
Little Lu suddenly spoke up.
“Yeah, right. Why bring it up suddenly?”
Lin Shuyue’s train of thought was slightly interrupted. She was still pondering the “not quite right” that Little Lu mentioned, considering whether to go see Cen Duo.
“Will the train stop at the place we came from?”
“Yes, we can head there a bit early. The train won’t wait too long; as long as we board quickly during the stop time, we’ll be safe.”
Lin Shuyue’s tone became much lighter. In her eyes, she had already paid a huge Price for safety; next, she just needed to get on the train.
But immediately, Little Lu asked another question.
“Can ghosts board the train?”
Lin Shuyue’s footsteps halted.
She turned her head, her tone carrying Doubt and Vigilance as she looked at Little Lu: “Little Lu, why do you ask that?”
Little Lu couldn’t see her expression and only explained, “I’m worried there might be ghosts on the train; it wouldn’t be safe.”
“Oh, that. No need to worry.” Lin Shuyue’s tone seemed to relax a bit.
“As long as there’s no Train Ticket, neither people nor ghosts can see the train or board it. Sometimes when time runs out, we face being chased by ghosts, but once we’re on the train, we’re definitely safe.”
“When the Train Ticket owner dies, the Train Ticket disappears too, and ghosts can’t steal a person’s Train Ticket.”
“So, ghosts absolutely cannot board the train.”
Is that so?
But why did she feel like the ghosts inside this platform wanted to sneak onto the train with them?
Otherwise, why hadn’t these ghosts, unbound by the rules of seeing ghosts, killed them yet?
The only special thing about their group was their identity as Train Passengers, right?
Keeping them alive was the only way to get the Time and Place of the train’s arrival!
The moment she saw the ghost on Lin Shuyue’s back hadn’t left, Little Lu had figured this out.
Why this Instance wasn’t about Seeing a Ghost but Summoning Ghosts was because the danger wasn’t in the see a ghost mission, but in them summoning ghosts through the see a ghost mission while knowing nothing of the ghosts’ Purpose!
If they hadn’t noticed, they would really think everyone had completed the mission.
While waiting for the train to arrive, if everyone gathered, then… at that time, there would be at least nine ghosts waiting alongside them for the train’s arrival!
Would they quietly wait for the train doors to open and let them safely return to the train?
Impossible.
The only thing Little Lu could think of was that these ghosts were waiting for the Instant the train doors opened to kill them, then take their place and try to board the train!
She didn’t know if this was possible; she only knew that the most dangerous moment of this Instance had been revealed.
That was when the train arrived and they prepared to return to it.
“Are you really sure ghosts can’t board the train?” Little Lu asked repeatedly.
Lin Shuyue found it a bit strange: “What are you worried about?”
“Don’t worry. There was a time before when a Teammate was possessed by a ghost and none of us noticed, but she was ultimately refused entry by the train.”
“That’s why we can be 100% sure ghosts absolutely can’t board.”
Is that how it is…
Could she have misunderstood?
Little Lu frowned slightly, but she really couldn’t think of a reason why the ghosts weren’t killing them now.
“I’m worried about Cen Duo.”
“I’ll go check on her. If she really has a problem and can’t board, we just need to avoid her a bit and stagger our boarding times.”
Lin Shuyue seemed somewhat prepared. After saying that, she suddenly realized something, paused for a few seconds, then asked in a subtle tone:
“But Little Lu, why have you been keeping your head down and not looking at me?”
From the moment she turned her head until now, Little Lu had been talking to her with her head down the whole time.
Thinking of the Ability Little Lu now possessed, Lin Shuyue’s Complexion gradually changed.
And after she asked that question, Little Lu fell silent.
Midnight’s street had only the two of them. Little Lu still kept her head down. Lin Shuyue couldn’t see her expression and only heard her say:
“Because, Sister Lin, that ghost is still on your back.”
What?!
Lin Shuyue instantly felt her Brain go blank, her hands and feet turning Coldness, extreme Fear sweeping through her mind, even preventing her from reacting immediately to Little Lu’s words.
As if by illusion, after Little Lu pointed it out, Lin Shuyue finally sensed something wrong.
Her Shoulder felt somewhat sore and weak, like carrying something heavy for a long time.
Her back felt chilly, not from the night’s cold, but from something Coldness, like dead person’s skin, pressed tightly against her.
At her neck, faint Chilling breaths occasionally emerged, accompanied by a rotten stench. Lin Shuyue didn’t dare think what it was; she just felt all the Blood in her Body seemed to congeal with this Chilling breath.
