Chapter 171: Experimental Subject
“But…” Shi An’an lowered her head and looked at the optical computer with no signal, “we’ve probably arrived at another unknown planet.”
Xiu looked around, “Let’s go search and see if there’s a black hole.”
“Okay!”
The two soared into the air, flying forward together, while their spiritual senses spread out in all directions, searching for the black hole’s position.
Suddenly, Xiu abruptly pulled Shi An’an and quickly flew backward.
Shi An’an withdrew her spiritual power and was pulled back by Xiu. Her spiritual sense scanned the area Xiu had searched earlier.
When she saw it, her face was full of shock.
Xiu pulled Shi An’an to a stop in the cave where they had been before.
“You stay here, I’ll go take a look.” Xiu instructed Shi An’an.
Shi An’an frowned, “No, I’m going too.”
“One more person makes too big a target. I’ll just take a quick look and come back. Be good and listen.”
After Xiu finished speaking, he turned and left, leaving Shi An’an alone there.
Shi An’an felt a bit stifled at this moment. Was this guy underestimating her? After all, she was now at Nascent Soul level!
Xiu flew solemnly to the place he had seen earlier, carefully hiding behind a nearby stone to observe ahead.
He saw countless star beasts lying ahead, all underage star beasts, now sprawled on the ground snoring loudly.
Xiu looked at these star beasts, not knowing what to think.
In that person’s memories, these star beasts were also used by him as chess pieces to rule this world.
He had void beasts control all the star beasts, making them occupy planets, seize spirit stone mines, and continuously breed, providing an endless supply of weapons to counterbalance humans.
He didn’t know whether to pity them or sympathize…
Suddenly, he sensed movement behind him. Looking back, he saw that Shi An’an had somehow come up behind him.
“You…” Xiu looked at Shi An’an helplessly.
Shi An’an glared angrily at Xiu, “My cultivation level is higher than yours, okay? Don’t think I’m that weak!”
Xiu looked at Shi An’an’s puffed-up angry face and shook his head with a wry smile, “Alright, then be careful.”
“Hmph, got it!” Shi An’an didn’t want to pay attention to him.
Xiu looked at Shi An’an helplessly and reached out to pat her head.
Shi An’an was angry at the moment and glared at Xiu. Xiu could only lower his hand, and together with Shi An’an, they looked ahead.
“Why are there so many star beasts?”
Suddenly, Shi An’an’s voice appeared in Xiu’s ear, but he noticed An’an hadn’t opened her mouth.
Shi An’an glanced at Xiu, “Use spiritual sense to communicate. Wasn’t this in the memories you read?”
Xiu immediately understood, and the two began silent communication.
“These star beasts were deliberately raised here by that person, probably…”
“Tch, that guy really calculated every step, but the one thing he didn’t expect was dying first!”
“Indeed.”
“Eh, look over there! What’s that thing!” Suddenly, Shi An’an noticed something falling out from the middle of the star beasts.
Their spiritual senses quickly swept over, and they found a black hole there. The thing that had just come out of the black hole was a wrapped corpse.
Xiu frowned tightly, “It’s a corpse. Judging by the clothing, it looks like an experimental subject…”
“Experimental subject?” Shi An’an was puzzled.
Xiu explained experimental subjects to Shi An’an, “But now interstellar law prohibits any biological experiments.”
“To experiment on their own kind like that, simply beastly!” Shi An’an felt immense anger in her heart after hearing Xiu’s explanation.
The corpse was casually thrown into the group of star beasts. Only a few in the middle opened their eyes at the noise.
They looked over and saw the familiar object. A few uninterested ones lowered their heads and continued sleeping, while one reluctantly got up, bit the corpse, and walked in a certain direction.
Shi An’an and Xiu watched that star beast closely. It passed through the group of star beasts, went to a depression, shook its head to throw the corpse in, spat out some saliva in disgust afterward, and turned to leave.
In that depression, one could vaguely see it piled with corpses…
“So many…”
Shi An’an couldn’t bear to look and closed her eyes. She didn’t dare imagine the suffering these people had endured in life; perhaps death was a relief for them.
Xiu stretched out his arm and pulled Shi An’an into it, silently comforting her.
Such things were numerous. Even though interstellar law prohibited this, many pharmaceutical companies secretly trafficked people and organs in the dark to research better medicine…
Most were people deceived from Wasteland Star and Garbage Star.
Only their disappearances wouldn’t attract attention.
“I’ll go there and check. You stay here.”
After soothing Shi An’an, Xiu prepared to go look at the corpse pile.
Shi An’an’s face was cold as she stood up too, “I’ll go with you.”
“You…”
“It’s fine, let’s go.” Shi An’an concealed her aura and slowly passed over the group of star beasts.
Xiu’s eyes scanned the surroundings while worriedly keeping watch on Shi An’an at all times.
The two arrived at the corpse pile. Looking at the tattered corpses, Xiu covered Shi An’an’s eyes, afraid she would be scared.
Shi An’an’s original grief and indignation were interrupted by Xiu’s action.
She said helplessly, “Although you’ve covered my eyes, my spiritual sense sees even more clearly than my eyes…”
Xiu: …
He had completely forgotten about that. Xiu stiffly lowered his hand, stiffly looked at the corpses in the depression, and stiffly searched for clues…
Shi An’an watched Xiu’s odd movements and smiled silently.
Suddenly, there was movement from not far away. Shi An’an saw it was a child limping toward them.
Xiu noticed too and pulled Shi An’an to hide to the side.
They hadn’t expected there to be humans here.
The child was covered in scars, only his face unscathed, but his body and face were smeared with some unknown green liquid.
The child went to the corpses, and upon seeing a new one, his face lit up. He quickly ran down and pulled off the wrapping around the corpse.
The corpse was exposed—it was an adult man.
The child gently touched under the man’s nose to check for breath, then lay on the man’s chest to listen for a heartbeat…
After a thorough check, confirming the man was indeed dead, disappointment and grief showed on the child’s face. He wrapped the corpse again.
He stood up, bowed to the corpse, and muttered something unintelligible.
Then the child climbed up and limped away quickly.
Shi An’an and Xiu exchanged a glance, deciding to follow the child.
The child seemed very vigilant, checking the surroundings every few steps.
When he heard star beast movements, he immediately hid until the sounds stopped, then continued forward.
After walking a long time, Shi An’an saw the child enter a narrow stone crevice, just wide enough for that child’s body.
