Chapter 255: Differences In Weapon Systems
In the Starfield Market, within the Ship Category’s equipment options, Fan Ren focused particularly on the Weapon Turret category option after that.
Among them, the Turrets are classified into five different categories of Turrets.
They are respectively the Electromagnetic Railgun that Humanity is currently equipping on a large scale, the Missile Turret system used by Hans Civilization Battleships, and the Projectile Cannon used by the Fox Pirate Group’s previous Dreadnought.
As well as the final type, the laser category Weapon from the Five Great Civilizations.
Among these, the Electromagnetic Rail and Laser Weapon are both powered by the Integrated Power Supply System inside the Ship hull.
But the Electromagnetic Railgun differs from the Laser Weapon.
The Electromagnetic Railgun mainly consists of two parallel conductive rails and an armature located between the rails that can move.
When a powerful current passes through these two parallel rails, it generates a strong toroidal magnetic field around the rails, and the direction of this magnetic field is perpendicular to the current direction and the rail plane.
At this time, due to the existence of the magnetic field, the armature will move in the preset direction.
And the muzzle Initial Velocity of the Projectile is determined by the aforementioned reasons, such as the magnetic field strength caused by the current intensity and the rail length.
In short, the stronger the current and the longer the rails, the faster the Projectile’s muzzle velocity.
Laser Weapons are different.
As a product of the Fifth Level Civilization with the highest Technology Level in the Galactic Alliance at the present stage, this Laser Weapon must use the Crystal Medium provided by the Five Great Civilizations to exert its powerful destructive power.
This special Medium, after electrical energy is input into it, excites the Atoms in the Medium, causing them to transition from low energy levels to high energy levels.
Then, using the Weapon Turret system, the Particle states in this Medium are inverted, meaning the number of high-energy level Particles exceeds the number of low-energy level ones. In this state, when a Photon interacts with a high-energy level Particle, it triggers Stimulated Emission.
The Photon produced by Stimulated Emission has the same frequency, phase, and propagation direction as the incident Photon, thereby forming a high-energy Laser.
Among these, the most important Core Technology is the Medium and the Core device in the Turret used to invert the Particles.
Without these two Core Technologies from the Fifth Level Civilization, the power of the Laser Weapon will be greatly reduced. In the Galactic Alliance, against Ships built with ordinary Silver-like Super Metal Material, ordinary Laser Weapons cannot cause any damage at all.
Only with this special Medium can the specific high-energy Laser produced cause devastating damage to Ships constructed with these top-tier Materials.
Of course, this is also one of the most destructive Weapons in terms of weapon power in the current Galactic Alliance.
In addition, there are Missile Turrets and Projectile Cannon Turrets.
The physical characteristics of these two are relatively simple; the former is Humanity Civilization’s main destructive Weapon during the Earth era.
The latter is similar; the basic principle is the same as bullets from handguns and rifles.
The difference is only that it uses certain substances unknown to Humanity temporarily, which have higher explosive combustion properties, to generate a much higher Pressure environment in the barrel, making the bullet’s muzzle velocity faster.
Essentially, there is no difference.
Fan Ren looked through them line by line, with his gaze lingering the longest on the Laser Weapon.
According to Mai Er’s explanation and his guess, the current Sirius Civilization, apart from the Doomsday Weapon on the Titan Warship, mostly uses Projectile Cannons of the same type as the Fox Civilization in the past for conventional Weapons.
Fan Ren browsed the Prices and thought to himself, as expected.
The average Selling Price of Laser Weapon Turrets is more expensive than other types of Turrets.
Moreover, the price of these Laser Mediums (Ammunition) is not cheap either.
The Prices are all in the tens of thousands of Star Coins, hundreds of times higher than other types of Ammunition.
Among these, it may be partly because the Laser Weapon Medium can be reused multiple times.
But it cannot change their high price, such that even the Sirius Civilization, the Overlord of this Star Domain, has not chosen this more powerful Weapon.
The Hans Civilization is even simpler and more brutal.
The conventional Weapon Turrets equipped on their Warships use the even simpler and more brutal Missile Turrets.
But just like that scene in the previous Interception Battle, Missile Turrets have greatly reduced power in close combat.
Even under covering attacks from fleets several times larger, Missiles may not even effectively penetrate the barrage.
There is also a most important reason: Missile Weapons and Equipment are limited by their tracking systems, and if deliberately targeted, they are very likely to be countered by ECM electronic equipment, rendering them ineffective.
While thinking, Fan Ren’s gaze paused slightly, and his mind continued to firm up the Decision that the current Human Fleet should continue using Electromagnetic Railguns.
However, after checking the Range of the same type of Railgun Turrets sold on the Starfield Market, he felt a sense of urgency deep down.
These Electromagnetic Railguns from other Civilizations with higher Technology Levels have a minimum Range exceeding 50% of Humanity Civilization’s Electromagnetic Railgun.
The Gap is enormous!
Fan Ren rubbed his somewhat sore eyes and slowly closed these options, but his mind did not stop.
This trip to the Starfield Market was not in vain.
In his hand, he had 720,000 Star Coins from the Fox Pirate Group.
Although compared to Flagships that cost billions or even hundreds of billions, this amount of money is laughably small.
But after roughly understanding the Starfield Market, he found that some technical Products were completely affordable and very necessary to acquire.
For example, Venus, which currently has extremely rich Metal Resources in the Solar System.
Venus is a Planet with extremely high Resource value, and its size is close to Earth. Due to its special atmospheric Environment, this Earth-like Planet unusually contains massive amounts of Tri-Titanium Alloy, a construction Ore.
And the Mining Department, through scientific Prediction, unanimously believes that the Silver-like Super Metal Ore inside Venus will appear about 10 kilometers below the Ground.
This is also a massive Mining Resource.
Once Venus is transformed into an Environment suitable for Human operations, it can be imagined that with this Planet, Humanity can establish a super-large Mining center here.
Paired with Ground refining Factories and compression Factories.
It can be envisioned that on this Planet, like a blank sheet of paper never trodden by Life, Humanity Civilization can completely exclude all other factors and turn it into a main source and Processing site for Ore.
Thereby providing a huge boost to the Development of Humanity Civilization.
In addition, Communication Facilities are also an extremely important part.
Although under Fan Ren’s Effort, the Quantum Communication System currently used by Humanity Civilization has a single effective transmission distance of 2.5 billion kilometers.
But this distance has absolutely no feasibility for cross-Galaxy Communication.
