Chapter 61: The Fifth Member
The four had finished their introductions, but the person in the corner showed no reaction at all, still curled up squatting in the wall corner.
The atmosphere in the room gradually became serious, and even the thick-headed Jiang Dan noticed something was off, asking softly, “hello? Can you come over and say hi?”
The only response she got was silence.
Zhang Qian and Wang Shang exchanged a glance, the same suspicion arising in their minds.
A ghost had slipped into the room?
They weren’t too clear on the situation inside the post office, so it was possible.
“Man or ghost? Speak.” Zhang Qian unhesitatingly pulled out his handgun, warning, “Turn around, or I’ll shoot.”
“Three…”
Before Zhang Qian could start counting down, the person in the corner turned around on their own, hurriedly stopping him, “Don’t shoot! I’m a living person, not a ghost.”
The youth still covered his face with his hand, not wanting everyone to see what he looked like.
But the familiar voice made Zhang Qian feel like he’d heard it somewhere before.
“Big Brother, don’t let your guard down…” Wang Shang reminded.
“I know.” Zhang Qian nodded slightly, then racked the Desert Eagle, “Prove you’re human, or I’ll shoot.”
The youth was shocked in his heart. What did he mean prove he was human? How do you prove something like that?
But the icy cold mechanical sound clearly reached everyone’s ears, Zhang Qian’s finger already slightly pressing on the trigger, Brother Hu turning his body aside, not daring to look at the scene of blood and gore that would follow.
“Wait, wait!” The youth panicked and revealed a face wearing glasses, anxiously saying, “It’s me, Brother Qian, Tian Hao, we saw each other at the classmate gathering!”
“Oh~ I have some impression, but your behavior just now was very strange. How do you plan to make us believe you’re human?”
Zhang Qian recalled the events of that classmate gathering, pressing, “And at that gathering, your actions were also very odd, actually inciting ordinary people to deal with a fierce ghost. Who knows if you’ve become a puppet of a fierce ghost?”
“I can even communicate, doesn’t that prove I’m human?” Tian Hao was somewhat anxious.
“You saw Liu Yu and Wang Ying that day too, ghost slaves can communicate as well.” Zhang Qian remained unmoved, reminding, “I’m not targeting you, I just hope you can provide some solid evidence.”
“I…” Tian Hao steeled himself, bit his finger to force out a few drops of fresh blood, “Is this okay?”
“Not enough. If you don’t know what to do, I can provide a method.” Zhang Qian suggested.
“What?” Tian Hao kindled hope, looking at Zhang Qian expectantly.
“Very simple.” Zhang Qian shook the gun in his hand, “Shoot your head. If you don’t die, you’re a ghost.”
What if he died?
Tian Hao plopped down on the ground, not daring to ask that question.
He had no doubt about Zhang Qian’s determination to shoot. After all, after that gathering, they had all been taken in for tea, and even signed strict confidentiality agreements.
But Zhang Qian had saved a classmate with just one sentence, and those staff members were very respectful to Zhang Qian.
If Zhang Qian killed him, his file would probably say some university student shot in the back of the head, suicide.
He absolutely could not die here for nothing!
Tian Hao leaned against the walls, resignedly saying: “Brother Qian, however you want me to prove it, I’ll do it, just don’t kill me.”
“Tell us why you acted so abnormally, don’t think about lying. You know I’m not an ordinary person, if you’re caught lying it will be very bad for you.” Zhang Qian sat on the sofa, reminding.
The Desert Eagle in his hand was casually placed on the coffee table, shining with brilliant luster under the light.
Brother Hu looked at the handgun within arm’s reach and swallowed, this distance meant he could grab it just by stretching out his arm.
Damn it, go for it.
Brother Hu psyched himself up in his heart, suddenly standing up.
“Brother Qian, please put away the gun!”
The resounding voice startled Jiang Dan into a shiver, looking puzzled at this big burly guy.
Zhang Qian looked at him somewhat surprised, then indifferently waved his hand, “It’s fine, the safety isn’t even on, just leave it there.”
“Got it.” Brother Hu obediently sat down.
He felt a bit smug inside, sure enough, he guessed right.
Although he was a bit dumb usually, he knew that in novels, this kind of situation was always the protagonist testing the enemy.
Once someone really lost their mind and tried to grab the gun, this Zhang Qian definitely had a million ways to kill him.
Tian Hao was also startled by this shout, the words he wanted to say stuck in his throat.
Zhang Qian reminded: “Don’t freeze up, I don’t want to hear made-up stories, just say what you know.”
“Yes, yes.” Tian Hao came back to his senses and began his explanation.
“I’ve always liked ghost stories, so I’m a regular on various supernatural forums. Usually I just read stories on the forums, but half a month ago someone proposed having a gathering.”
Tian Hao was a bit embarrassed here, “That person said he could cover all the expenses of the gathering, he just wanted to exchange ghost stories with us. I didn’t think much and went.”
“It was only then that I realized the one who invited us might not be human at all…”
At this point, Tian Hao’s voice trembled a bit, as if recalling something terrifying.
“Keep going, and then?” Zhang Qian was somewhat dissatisfied, “The people I hate most in my life are eunuchs, you’d better not be one.”
“No, it’s just that guy was really too weird.” Tian Hao continued recalling, “He was very thin and small, severely hunched back, dry yellow skin, not like a person, more like a dried corpse.”
“He showed us some eerie methods, right in front of us on the street, turned a person into skin and bones.”
Half a month later, Tian Hao still felt horrified thinking of those pitch-black eye sockets.
“He called himself a ghost controller. We did think about escaping, but he gave each of us 100,000 bucks, saying we all had the talent to become ghost controllers.”
“He also told us the method to become a ghost controller, which is to contact a weakened or just resurged ghost, that way there’s a probability of being possessed.” Tian Hao said, glancing at Zhang Qian, explaining, “So at the gathering I thought of going up to finish it off, planning to take advantage of the chaos to contact the fierce ghost and try.”
“Heh, contact a fierce ghost and become a ghost controller, pretty wishful thinking.” Zhang Qian asked, “Did he say anything about his background?”
Luring ordinary people to contact fierce ghosts, probably not a good person.
Directly contacting a fierce ghost had a high probability of instant death. Even Zhang Qian had once been accidentally corroded by a ghost hand, let alone ordinary people.
And even if you luckily survived, if you really became a ghost controller, you’d face the problem of fierce ghost resurgence.
Enjoy a few months of wealth and then hastily pass away, was it really worth it?
“Yes.” Tian Hao pulled out his mobile phone, opened his contacts, “That person is called Hu Song Shan, he said once we became ghost controllers we could contact him.”
