Chapter 1: Mystic Arts Apprentice
“Dead?”
A soft and charming voice rang in his ear, carrying a hint of surprise and doubt.
Falling into Su Chen’s ears, it felt layered and overlapping; he couldn’t make out the words that followed clearly at all.
His whole person seemed to be in a dream; his eyes opened slightly, yet he couldn’t see the scene before him clearly no matter what.
Until a certain moment, as if leaping out from underwater, everything he heard and saw became clear.
“…Pretending pretty convincingly…”
That voice came again; Su Chen was somewhat dazed, his field of vision only showing a pair of fair thighs, with crystalline toes stepping on the red carpet.
A faint fragrance entered his nose; Su Chen couldn’t help but frown—the scent of the perfumed fragrance was too obvious, and he didn’t like this smell.
Subconsciously wanting to reach out and rub his nose, he realized his hands seemed bound by something; turning his head, he saw Black Shackles.
I… wasn’t at home…
He subconsciously tried to recall, only feeling a stabbing pain in his head; a large amount of memories not belonging to him surged in competitively.
After a few breaths, he had figured out his situation, his expression somewhat complicated.
“Little brother…” The soft and charming voice came again, this time with dissatisfaction, “If you can’t take it, just say so; you’ve ruined the good mood entirely.”
As Su Chen looked up, the other had already turned around; a black-red silk nightgown outlined her graceful figure.
Though he hadn’t seen her face, a cold and glamorous visage inevitably surfaced in his mind.
Jiang He, one of the Mysticism Tutors of South Wind Academy in the central district.
And himself—he couldn’t help lowering his head again, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly, a chill between his legs.
He had actually been subjected to Unspoken Rules?
The original body was not a student of the Academy, just an inferior Refugee in South Wind City; due to South Wind City’s regulations, he was about to be sent out of the city as Cannon Fodder, so he wanted to enter South Wind Academy.
By rights, it was almost impossible for him to enroll.
Fortunately, he was born with good looks; after several twists and turns, he finally secured a slim Opportunity, which fell on the woman before him.
Amid the surging memories, his vision blurred again; several distorted characters like mosquito flights gradually formed, arranged quite neatly.
【Host: Su Chen】
【Basic Combat(Mastery–Not Equipped)】
This is… Su Chen was stunned, his heart pounding fiercely, face tense as he tried his best to suppress his emotional fluctuations.
His throat rolled; his mind subconsciously focused on that 【Basic Combat】 skill.
【Basic Combat(Mastery–Not Equipped):64%】
(Note: Obtained from years of Training in the previous life; after equipping, it will enhance the Host’s Body qualities)】
Gift from the previous life? Su Chen came back to his senses; though he wasn’t gaunt now, his current Body was obviously much worse than in his previous life.
But now didn’t seem like the time to equip it…
“This soft and weak, lost look of yours… it’s really interesting.”
Jiang He spoke again; when Su Chen looked up once more, he found her reclining on the sofa.
Pa–
She reached out and flicked lightly; the shackles binding his hands unlocked, Su Chen’s arms loosened, and he staggered on the carpet, yet couldn’t help looking at those Black Shackles.
It was said… this Mysticism Tutor had long been a Professional.
“Come…” Jiang He beckoned, her red lips parting lightly as Alcoholic Beverage entered her throat.
Su Chen hesitated somewhat; he had replaced the original soul, and though he knew the original guy’s personality.
But disguising it wasn’t that simple; if too close, she might notice something off.
Seeing him unmoving, Jiang He smirked slightly, her slender fingers hooking toward the side table by the sofa, where a gold-embossed letter paper lay, its edges outlined in black geometric lines.
Enrollment Recommendation Letter!
Several words popped into Su Chen’s mind, with a hint of inexplicable longing; this was also the purpose of the original body’s visit here.
With this, he could enter South Wind Academy and escape the fate of Cannon Fodder.
At this point, refusal was impossible; Su Chen could only lower his head, messy hair covering his face, and hesitantly walk forward.
“This is made from grapes cultivated with ‘Daylight Radiance’; it can restore some Stamina… want to try?”
Though Jiang He said so, she drained the wine in one gulp, pressing the glass on that Recommendation Letter, then arched her upper body, the faint red mark of the Alcoholic Beverage starkly clear.
The wine in the glass was gone, so…
Su Chen’s steps halted—not because he was too shocked, but according to the original body’s Reaction, he had to stop.
“Don’t be shy… come… taste it…” Jiang He couldn’t help showing a smile, her voice extremely seductive.
“What’s wrong, not even daring to look up?”
Jiang He stood, stepping toward Su Chen one by one, extending her slender hand to lift his chin; she just liked seeing this shy, helpless, indignant yet forced-to-submit green look.
Su Chen’s mind raced, considering the original body’s personality and how to express it.
However, at that moment, his body instinctively bowed backward.
This woman had changed direction midway; her palm didn’t lift his chin but went even lower.
The subconscious Reaction engraved in his soul was faster than his thinking.
Jiang He’s action paused slightly; after waiting a moment without the reluctant compliance she expected from Su Chen, dissatisfaction flashed in her eyes.
Playing hard to get, but no follow-through?
Her voice turned cold instantly, “If you’re still unwilling, then get lost.”
Su Chen hesitated; though according to his memories, not entering the Academy would bring some Trouble, right now he needed more time to familiarize himself with everything.
Moreover, this woman wasn’t easy to deal with; why had the original body suddenly been replaced?
If she noticed his anomaly, he might end up dissected.
He said nothing, his gaze already on the chair nearby, where a slightly worn set of clothes lay.
Seeing him seemingly really about to leave, Jiang He raised a brow, her words growing colder, “In a few months, you’ll join the Exploration team; once out of the city, you’re just a Corpse.”
She seemed to be reminding, yet threatening; Su Chen felt it was shame-fueled anger, but he still ignored her.
As she said, his kind of inferior Refugee still had some rights in the city.
Even if Jiang He’s status was not simple, she couldn’t just do whatever to him casually; but outside South Wind City, he was pure Cannon Fodder.
Amid rustling sounds, he had dressed, still maintaining the original body’s persona—taciturn and silent—as he pushed the door to leave.
Seeing his actions, Jiang He just sneered; the self-esteem of inferior Refugees was like a fat woman’s breasts—utterly meaningless.
But she was still annoyed; tonight she thought she’d have some fun and pick up a nice little thing, but it turned out…
As she thought, her vision suddenly went Black.
Crack!
The sound of a glass shattering came from behind; Su Chen, whose heart was already in his throat, whipped his head around instantly.
The gravity in his eyes flashed and vanished, ready anytime to equip his previous life’s gift—even if it only gave slight resistance, better than being captured helplessly.
But the next second, the gravity in his eyes was replaced by astonishment; Jiang He had curled up painfully on the carpet, low groans escaping her mouth.
Glass shards scattered around, some already cutting that tender skin.
This…
Su Chen’s brows furrowed tightly.
“Hah… hah…” Jiang He let out low gasps, her body convulsing nonstop, voice intermittent.
“…Call, Emer… Emergency Rescue Department…”
Emergency Rescue Department, South Wind City’s Institution specifically for emergency rescues within the city; each dispatch cost no small sum.
Su Chen hesitated briefly, his gaze passing over the sofa behind her to the distant brown long table, on which lay a small, exquisite silver Metal bracelet.
He didn’t know what had happened, suspecting Jiang He might have some acute illness; help or not?
Before his thoughts settled, a faint click came from behind, followed by a shrill voice.
“If I were you, I’d stay put.”
He turned vigilantly, only to see two blurry figures, one tall and one short, entering his view; their surfaces seemed covered in shadow, like moving Mosaic under the lights.
An arm extended from the tall Mosaic; Su Chen then realized the Mosaic was actually a piece of clothing.
Removing the clothing revealed an extremely burly, ferocious figure staring at him.
The short one was slowly closing the door, eyes sinister, sharp-nosed and monkey-faced, with a faint sinister smile at the corner of his mouth.
“Jiang He…”
The other’s gaze swept over him once before fixing on the woman curled on the ground groaning, wantonly roaming her exposed skin that pain made her neglect to cover.
“Tsk tsk…” He tsked meaningfully twice; Jiang He barely lifted her head, face pale, forehead dense with sweat beads, forcibly suppressing her Body’s pain, squeezing words through clenched teeth:
“This is a private residence; who… are you? What do you… want?”
“Worthy of a Mystic Arts Apprentice who’s been through the Whispering Trial; such strong endurance, still able to speak after drinking the Withered Grass Potion…”
The short one spoke leisurely, walking straight over; his gaze swept Su Chen, who had his head down, seemingly scared silly with dazed eyes and no Reaction.
He didn’t care; he knew the other’s Information well—this was the proper Reaction for an inferior citizen.
But Su Chen’s heart was full of shock and doubt, looking at the semi-transparent screen no one else could see—
