Chapter 15: Unexpected Attack, Stolen Special Profession
He woke up full of spirit, and Su Chen looked invigorated.
【Candlelight Mental Training Method——Mastery: 50%】
The progress of the Job Appointment【Mystic Tool Master】 was steadily advancing.
After washing up, he didn’t continue the boring training but prepared to head to the Canteen to purchase a few more Nutrient Potions.
However, just as he left the Dormitory Building, he sensed that the atmosphere was off. There were many more patrol guards on the roads inside the Academy.
Moreover, they weren’t internal Academy security. Each one was burly, with form-fitting dark blue Combat Uniforms as the base, thick Metal Armor on their shoulders, chests, and thighs, and carrying black submachine guns.
They had stern expressions, exuding a dangerous aura. Su Chen even sensed quite a few Professionals mixed among them.
“Why are there so many Inspector Guards? What happened?”
Many students on the road had the same question.
“I don’t know. People came yesterday afternoon and reportedly took over all the school’s security work,” a student said in a low voice.
“Yesterday afternoon?” Su Chen’s expression shifted slightly, muttering to himself, “It couldn’t be because of Zhou Zong, could it?”
“Reportedly, it’s because the Academy was attacked.”
A mysterious voice suddenly came from behind. Su Chen slowed his steps. Not because of Zhou Zong?
“Attacked? Real or fake?”
The gathering students exclaimed in surprise.
“Of course it’s real. Otherwise, why the big fuss.”
Su Chen listened attentively but was abruptly stopped by someone. It was an Inspector Guard with somewhat dark skin. Without a word, he grabbed Su Chen’s student card and scanned it with the Instrument in his hand.
He then reached out and rubbed Su Chen’s cheek, confirming no issues before waving him through.
Although a First Order Strongman had strengthened his body, it was still within human limits overall. This simple inspection couldn’t detect anything unusual.
“Those behind, don’t talk nonsense…” he warned.
Su Chen glanced back. The Academy was attacked? Real or fake?
On the way to the Canteen, he heard more news. Some said the school had been robbed, others that several senior Teachers had died, all Second Order Professionals.
All sorts of rumors were flying around.
“Bai Fengxi?” After buying the Nutrient Solution, Su Chen turned and saw Bai Fengxi coming up the stairs.
Zhou Zong was probably still nursing a headache from whoever knocked him out yesterday and wasn’t by Bai Fengxi’s side.
Su Chen thought for a moment and walked straight up to her.
“Old Bai…” he called out.
What kind of nickname was that? Several girls nearby looked baffled.
“Ah, it’s him, Jiang He’s little Bai… uh… handsome guy…”
Su Chen’s face was quite memorable, and a girl recognized him right away.
Bai Fengxi’s gaze fell on the small bag in Su Chen’s hand.
He had money so quickly. Teacher Jiang He was really generous.
She hesitated to speak, but Su Chen said bluntly, “I have something to tell you.”
Bai Fengxi thought for a moment and followed Su Chen to a seat in the corner.
“Zhou Zong has his eye on you. He asked me about your background,” Su Chen said in a low voice. “He seems not to know your origins.”
“Zhou Zong…” Bai Fengxi frowned involuntarily and nodded softly. “Yeah, Teacher Yuan modified my Information. Now I’m the orphan of one of his friends.”
As Bai Fengxi spoke, her face showed no embarrassment at all.
“No wonder. He probably wants to use your background to control you,” Su Chen said, realizing.
Normally, an ugly duckling turned swan wouldn’t want to be associated with her former self.
For example, “Bai Fengxi, you wouldn’t want your friends to know you’re actually an inferior Refugee, right.”
“You’d better be careful,” Su Chen reminded him, seeming about to stand but sitting back down. He asked curiously, “Who is your Teacher?”
“Teacher Yuan is Yuan Chenyang.” Bai Fengxi’s wording was a bit odd.
“Vice Principal? Minister of Inspection?” Su Chen paused, looking Bai Fengxi up and down. What incredible luck.
The South Wind Academy had several Vice Principals, and this Yuan Chenyang was undoubtedly a powerhouse, controlling one of the City’s violence departments, the Inspection Department, responsible for internal City security.
“What are the requirements for him to take students?” Su Chen asked curiously. “How did he take a liking to you?”
“I don’t know…” Bai Fengxi glanced at him, seeming somewhat troubled. “I’m not too clear either.”
“Be careful. You might have run into a pervert,” Su Chen said “jealously.”
Bai Fengxi just “oh”-ed, unconcerned by the joke, and said instead, “Don’t worry about Zhou Zong. I’ll warn him.”
“Besides, he won’t have time for anything else for a while. Zhang Hengyu is watching him.”
“Hm?” Su Chen raised an eyebrow.
Bai Fengxi said softly, “Yesterday, Zhang Hengyu played dirty and stole Zhou Zong’s Blood Activating Potion. It pissed him off bad.”
“Zhang Hengyu?” Su Chen’s eyes flickered oddly. “Why does he think it’s Zhang Hengyu?”
“Because of a Quota, a Quota to go to Yingfeng Giant City…” Bai Fengxi didn’t mind saying it.
Quota? Yingfeng Giant City?
Su Chen was surprised. He hadn’t expected such a Misunderstanding.
Bai Fengxi’s eyes burned with suppressed gossip fire. “Reportedly, he was stripped naked too. Someone recorded it with a recording device. He’s warning everyone about it.”
Why are you so excited?
Su Chen’s expression was strange as he asked, “How’s Little Pigeon?”
Bai Fengxi’s expression softened a bit. “She’s doing well. I’ve already started her basic education. She mentions you often.”
“That’s good.” Su Chen stood to say goodbye and prepare to leave.
“You… want to become Yuan Chenyang’s student?” Bai Fengxi asked hesitantly.
“Yeah.” Su Chen sat back down and sighed. “Jiang He isn’t a long-term solution.”
“Right, he’ll get tired of it eventually.” Bai Fengxi nodded. She wasn’t some naive fool; she’d rolled in the mud too.
Su Chen didn’t explain much, but Bai Fengxi said, “Yuan Chenyang looks at Talent.”
“Talent?”
Didn’t you say you didn’t know why he took you?
Su Chen could tell Old Bai was very cautious with him. Her attitude toward him was only slightly better. She probably hadn’t planned to mention this, but for some reason had changed her mind.
“Physical Talent, Mental Talent. If you have Talent, you can progress faster and better than others,” Bai Fengxi explained.
Su Chen thought thoughtfully. So he learned the Candlelight Mental Training Method quickly… because he had Mental Talent?
“Hmm…” He looked at Bai Fengxi solemnly. “I feel like I have Talent too.”
“You?” Bai Fengxi instinctively sized him up, hesitating to speak.
“Can you help?” Su Chen asked.
“Hard to say. I can only mention it, but he…” Bai Fengxi hesitated.
Su Chen noticed her odd way of referring to Yuan Chenyang but didn’t ask. He just said, “Alright, thanks anyway, no matter what.”
……
“If only I could connect with Yuan Chenyang…” Back at the Dormitory, Su Chen was still scheming.
That way, Jiang He wouldn’t be trouble, Qi Chuan wouldn’t be trouble, and he wouldn’t have to hole up in the Dormitory worrying about the next meal.
……
Deep in South Wind Academy, in a high-level Office, Bai Fengxi slipped in quietly.
Yuan Chenyang was rubbing his brow, his bald head gleaming. Seeing Bai Fengxi, he said, “You’re here.”
“How’s the investigation?” Bai Fengxi asked.
“No leads at all. The one who did it is very cunning, but I’ve trapped him in the Academy…” Yuan Chenyang opened his eyes, a sharp glint flashing by. “I suspect there was an inside job.”
“…The item was only half-decoded when it was stolen. Yingfeng side is already demanding answers and will probably send people.”
Bai Fengxi couldn’t help asking, “What exactly was stolen?”
Yuan Chenyang’s face was tense. “An undecoded Special Profession…”
