This is my third book. The first book was Destiny’s Gift. I stumbled into making it a quality work with an average subscription of 4500+, but at that time I didn’t consider making a living from this, and I wasn’t serious enough later on.
The second book was truly written with great seriousness, but unfortunately my understanding of web novels was insufficient, and I overreached by imitating big shots, finally leading to the expected flop.
But it was this book that truly made me recognize myself and roughly understand how web novels should be written.
The third book《 Ultra Sorcerer: Magic Net Crashed Again at the Start》 has been full of anxiety and caution all the way to now, so it’s super super super… extremely heartfelt!!!
If it flops again, I can only go back to licking the owner and clients, hoping others will give me a bite to eat.
Fortunately, the results so far have been very good. Just over 100,000 words and it topped the new book list in its category and the overall list. For a fantasy novel, this is an exciting start, after all, fantasy has truly declined.
I’m a novel fan and game fan. I’ve read DND-themed novels very early on, but most are just pseudo-DND, not what I imagined（ not that they’re bad, some are very enjoyable）.
So I decided to write one myself, because I think if I want to read it, there must be other book friends who want to read it too.
To avoid low-level mistakes, I started learning DND rules and knowledge from scratch, more than ten hours a day for two months, but it wasn’t boring because it’s really interesting!
Wikipedia, Pure Land Apple Orchard, Bilibili, Baidu Tieba, tabletop role-playing…… I hang out in them every day, and I didn’t miss movies or games either. To play《 Baldur’s Gate 3》, I even specially swapped in a 5070 graphics card.
But even now, I still don’t dare say I’m “familiar” with DND, because the related materials for this ancestor-level game passed down from the last century are too vast.
《5E Complete Book》 I’ve gone through it over and over, with new discoveries each time.
However, I hope everyone doesn’t get too hung up on the rules, because many DND rules serve tabletop role-playing, and there are many places that need adjustment when put into reality.
Moreover, DND itself is open. Third-party, UA, and homebrew are also part of the rules. If you want, you can write rules according to your own understanding, and they might even be officially included.
Those who have done tabletop role-playing should know that a pleasant experience is the result of mutual compromise. Nitpicking rules might make everyone part unhappy.
Happiness is what I want to bring to everyone!
In this book, I am the DM（ Dungeon Lord of the City）, readers are players, and everyone is on a fantasy adventure with happiness as the goal.
Some like settings, some like combat, some like leveling up, some are interested in those magical items…… In short, it can’t be boring.
I habitually reflect on what I’ve written before bed every night, recording any ideas and shortcomings, and revising them first thing in the morning.
Once, I deleted a main storyline of tens of thousands of words（ leaving Baldur’s Gate）, probably because I revised too much, leading to fewer and fewer drafts.
I swear, when I started the book, I had 40,000 to 50,000 words in drafts, but with daily deletions and modifications, the drafts are getting fewer, and now there are almost none left.
Big shots, it’s really not me making excuses.
When I wrote my first book, I could do one to two thousand words per hour, but for this book, on average only a few hundred words per hour, occasionally up to a thousand.
I could write with my eyes closed, of course, but those filler plots don’t touch my heart. Even in the most mundane chapters, I strive to include something interesting.
I may not always be able to do it, but at least that’s what I’m doing now.
