Chapter 181: Poseidon’s Conspiracy
Poseidon saw that Menoetius dared not speak, and cursed inwardly: a cowardly rat-like waste!
He had no choice but to continue on his own: “Speaking of which, Zeus’s magnanimity is not small at all in another aspect.”
“Hm?” Menoetius finally lifted his head upon hearing this, gazing over with a bit of drunkenness and curiosity.
Poseidon looked at Menoetius, raised his brows at him teasingly, and laughed loudly: “How could his heart, which can hold so many goddesses, possibly be small? Haha—”
“With goddesses, he is the most devoted and also the most affectionate, but in the end, he is still greedy.”
“Having the wise Goddess of Wisdom wasn’t enough; he doesn’t even know when he had a child with the Goddess of Wisdom’s younger sister, that Dione, tsk tsk tsk.”
At this point Poseidon just shook his head, his face full of disdain and regret, but in reality, he was even more jealous inside!
Dione was truly too beautiful!
And her daughter truly lived up to being the Goddess of Love and Beauty!
Her beauty had already surpassed the scope of anything language could describe, beautiful to a degree even the gods could scarcely imagine.
Merely thinking of Aphrodite’s name made Poseidon feel an irrepressible heat in his heart, his divinity seemingly scorched into a daze by that ultimate beauty.
The charm of the Goddess of Beauty was something even Poseidon, with his peculiar tastes, could not resist at all.
Because all gods and living beings in the universe fundamentally could not resist that ‘beauty’ and ‘love’ originating from the Origin.
In the eyes of any living being, the Goddess of Love was the most perfect creation they could imagine, possessing an absolute, incomparable attraction sufficient to captivate all beings.
Poseidon paused for a moment, temporarily suppressing the restless flames in his heart, and continued: “Not only that, even the goddess of civilization memory and that flawless just order were blinded by Zeus’s sweet talk.”
“If it were just that, it would be fine. But Zeus didn’t even spare his wet nurse who raised him as a child.”
“The two Ash Tree Nymphs are now his personal attendants, and there’s also a Goat Nymph—Amalthea. Zeus dotes on her to the extreme.”
“For her, he even personally stepped in and ordered the great Ocean God and the loving Mother of Ten Thousand Streams to use the power of the Origin to regest her divine body and refine her Origin.”
““Hmph, what intentions he harbors, which god doesn’t know?”
“Isn’t it just to change her nymph Origin for her, elevate her status a bit, so that in the future he can rightfully make her one of his wives too.”
“This matter has been schemed for a long time; I estimate it’s about to succeed. That nymph is now in the core place deep in the Ocean.”
“Sigh, it just wrongs the Ocean Gods; they actually have to stoop so low, carefully tending to such a little Goat Goddess.”
Hearing this, Menoetius just nodded lightly in agreement, never interrupting once, but his gaze was quietly changing.
Poseidon secretly observed his reaction, a barely perceptible arc hooking at the corner of his mouth.
He changed the subject and continued: “But to be fair, Zeus is extremely attentive when it comes to the goddesses he loves.”
“For the beloved goddesses he acknowledges, he truly spares no effort, giving everything. Whether it’s supreme honor or powerful offspring, they take all the benefits in the universe.”
“Though Zeus is not devoted, he truly cares a great deal for the goddesses he sets his eyes on; one could say he grants every request.”
Menoetius’s hand holding the wine cup paused, a thoughtful expression on his face.
Poseidon laughed inwardly, knowing the fish had bitten the hook, so he said no more, just enthusiastically pulling Menoetius to continue drinking.
This drinking session lasted a long time, until Menoetius, who wanted to drown his sorrows, was clearly drunk in both soul and spirit.
Only then did Poseidon slowly rise and say: “Menoetius, my dear friend, you continue enjoying this leisurely time. I have to go attend that boring Council of Gods.”
“Sigh, Zeus just loves to torment the gods; all gods and nymphs in the entire universe, except those not allowed to participate, must all attend.”
“All the gods of the entire universe are now gathered at Olympus; even this vast ocean has become empty and desolate because of it.”
Poseidon’s seemingly casual words were like the final thunderbolt, completely shattering all hesitation in Menoetius’s heart.
After saying that, he rose to leave, and the tipsy Menoetius stood to see him off.
After sending off the scheming Sea King, this already drunk, reckless and arrogant god stood in his own small, crude underwater divine palace, thinking more and more that perhaps he could make an article out of the God King’s beloved goddesses.
It was a well-known fact that the God King treated his own goddesses extremely well.
And this Amalthea even had the unparalleled special status of being the God King’s wet nurse!
That Zeus was willing to go to such great lengths for her, even owing a favor to the Ocean God couple, to remake her Origin—this degree of regard went without saying!
So
Could he perhaps kidnap this nymph and use her as a bargaining chip to force the God King to release his father god?
Releasing the Old God King was certainly impossible, but if it was just releasing his father god, and restoring the honor of his elder brother and himself, that wasn’t entirely out of the question!
Moreover, the opportunity was truly rare; the God King’s other beloved goddesses were ones he himself couldn’t defeat, and the ones he could defeat were all by the God King’s side.
Only this nymph, far from Olympus and in the midst of rebirth, was the best target!
Also, just as the Sea King said, all gods in the entire universe were now heading to Olympus for the Council of Gods; this ocean would be unprecedentedly empty, with absolutely no gods able to come stop him!
Such a good opportunity, once missed, would never come again!
The Sea King also said this nymph was about to complete her gestation soon!
Then he couldn’t delay any longer!
By the time this nymph succeeded and returned to Olympus, or even just until the Ocean God couple returned from Olympus, there would absolutely be no chance left!
The more Menoetius thought, the more feasible the plan seemed, and it was already urgent beyond delay!
He immediately set off to discuss with his elder brother Atlas, but midway, he suddenly stopped in his tracks.
His elder brother had recently been growing calmer in mindset under Pleione’s company, and his children were now all serving by the God King’s side.
For this matter, his elder brother might not support it.
Also, Pleione watched too closely; it would be hard to keep this from her.
More importantly, if it failed, it would implicate his elder brother’s family, which wouldn’t be good.
Better not to let him know; even if it failed, he alone would bear all the blame—after all, his elder brother would be unaware.
Thinking this way, a flash of determination crossed Menoetius’s eyes; he abruptly turned, no longer hesitating in the slightest, and stealthily headed toward the core place at the deepest part of the Ocean.
And atop the radiant, bustling Olympus Temple, Zeus, who was skillfully maneuvering between the various goddesses, almost the very moment Poseidon and Menoetius raised their cups together, lifted his eyes.
The God King’s intangible indifferent gaze pierced through endless space-time, precisely landing on that deep sea domain.
He had just parted from Hera; after all, with so many goddesses, he couldn’t stay glued to Hera the whole time.
Mainly, the atmosphere among Metis and the other goddesses gathered together was quite enthusiastic, enthusiastic to the point of nearly exploding.
If he didn’t go mediate a bit, the divine palace would be in chaos again.
He clearly “saw” Poseidon’s petty little scheme; the Heavenly Lord’s heart was full of disdain, and a bit angry.
It wasn’t anger at Menoetius—who would bother contending with a fool?
He was angry at Poseidon, this utterly stupid younger brother.
For the Mother Goddess’s mood, he couldn’t thoroughly deal with him.
But giving him a harsh lesson was still necessary!
At the same time, it further solidified his idea of sleeping with his wife!
Toward Menoetius’s direction, Zeus quietly flicked an imperceptible thunder electric light from his fingertips; the electric light vanished into the void and disappeared, after which he paid no more attention.
Menoetius, a trivial chess piece, what waves could he stir up?
On the contrary, this fool could proactively offer a perfect offering to his supreme divine power for the upcoming Council of Gods.
However, now, before starting the Council of Gods, there was still one crucially important matter that must be completed.
That was to thoroughly and perfectly devour the long-coveted “order.”
The newborn Heavenly Dao Order, relying only on Themis alone to oversee, was truly too arduous.
How could he bear to let his beloved goddess be overwhelmed by busy, exhausting work?
He needed to add a few reliable subordinate administrators for her.
Though he could control everything himself, the Heavenly Dao Order was the cornerstone of the universe, the most critical and important thing; its daily management could only be safely entrusted to his wife and children!
Moreover, even among wife and children, only Themis, symbolizing sacred justice and order, could let the God feel absolute peace of mind.
Only Themis would never neglect duty for personal reasons.
