Chapter 100: Scheming Against The Mother!
Zeus wore the most sincere smile and said warmly, “Beloved Mother Goddess, I have come this time simply to express, on behalf of myself and all the gods of Olympus, our deepest and most sincere gratitude to you, the great Mother Goddess.”
“Your shelter for me and the Mother Goddess, your care for Olympus, I will forever engrave in my heart. Your kindness, I will repay with all my strength.”
Mother Goddess Gaia waved her hand, her fatigued yet beautiful face clearly lacking any spirit.
The Mother Goddess of All Things, experienced in worldly affairs, had a hint of world-weary helplessness in her eyes: “Zeus, I have never expected any repayment from you. You need not consider these things.”
“State your true objective.”
The fatigued Mother Goddess of All Things was too lazy to exchange pleasantries with Zeus and spoke very directly.
Zeus was entirely unconcerned with the Great Mother Goddess’s impoliteness. His sunny, warm smile still hung on his handsome face, his voice carrying just the right amount of worry, his tone utterly sincere:
“Great Mother Goddess, the war has dragged on for years, already bringing unrest to the entire world. If it continues like this, it may persist for countless ages.”
“The war has gone on far too long. Even you, Mother Goddess, have been disturbed in your tranquility by this endless noise. Such a war has reached the time to end completely.”
Mother Goddess Gaia’s eyes, like green crystal, had faint golden threads flickering deep within. She looked at Zeus, her gaze full of scrutiny.
She asked very concisely and clearly: “What do you want to do? Zeus, state your plan directly.”
Seeing this, Zeus gradually restrained the smile on his face and said solemnly and seriously: “Great Mother Goddess, I wish to request your permission to release the Hecatoncheires and the Cyclopes.”
“They, as children of the Mother Goddess and the Heavenly Father, should also share in your warm embrace.”
“The despairing abyss of Tartarus, dark without daylight, should not be their eternal abode. They should enjoy light.”
“I wish to request that, after I release them, you require them to help me win this war.”
“I believe that with their formidable power, this war that has lasted far too long can finally end completely, and the universe will return to peace and tranquility.”
Hearing this, Gaia’s green crystal-like eyes suddenly sharpened, her fatigued features instantly filling with joy. Her nearly exhausted spirit instantly revived.
The beautiful face of the Mother Goddess of All Things now displayed an incomparably captivating smile, a beauty born from the origin of the world intertwined with a mother’s joy.
The Mother Goddess nodded repeatedly in strong agreement. She shed her lazy indifference, becoming very gentle and close, and said smilingly to Zeus: “Yes, Zeus, you are a good child, a merciful and generous good child. You are right—this war should end!”
“My poor children were unjustly cast into that terrifying abyss, suffering endless torment.”
“Though they had some minor wrongdoings in the past, the punishment they have received far exceeds their wrongdoings!”
“I support you! Zeus, go release them! They will be your most capable assistants. With their help, the current stalemated situation will be completely broken, and you will surely achieve victory!”
However, the loving Mother Goddess hesitated slightly and asked: “But do you have a method to break Cronus’s seal? Can you find where they are imprisoned?”
“He, as God King, controls endless darkness to hide the anchor point linking to the world, and has granted Campe the authority of mist. In the darkness, the mist isolates all perception—even Nyx cannot detect where Campe truly is.”
“Finding the anchor point sealing the children’s link is utterly impossible in the endless darkness.”
Zeus smiled confidently with assurance and said: “Great Mother Goddess, you need not worry. Poseidon holds part of the ocean authority; the mist cannot obscure his sight. Hades holds part of the darkness authority; he can find the anchor point linking to the giants in the darkness.”
“As long as you permit me to release them, everything will be no problem—I will handle it all well.”
The great Mother of All Things was now somewhat agitated, her heart filled with joy. She said urgently: “Zeus, of course I support you!”
“Go save these poor children. They are all good children who value emotion. If you save them, they will be grateful to you.”
“Tell them I also support their allegiance to you, Zeus. Go save them!”
Zeus’s sunny smile became even brighter. He nodded firmly, his voice carrying full assurance: “Thank you for your support, Mother Goddess. Rest assured—you will soon see them again.”
“To avoid any unnecessary misunderstanding and to ensure they fully trust, please send a god they will also believe in to accompany me in releasing them.”
Gaia, full of joy, did not think twice and said eagerly and directly: “No need for such trouble! I will go with you—that is the most reliable way!”
Hearing this, Zeus hurriedly dissuaded her: “Beloved Mother Goddess, absolutely not! If you enter that profound dark abyss, it may instantly alert the God King.”
“If the God King intervenes and disrupts, relocating and hiding the chains’ anchor point, our action this time may completely fail. After alerting the God King, we will have no further opportunity!”
Gaia, hearing Zeus’s words, found them quite reasonable. She nodded in agreement and said: “You have considered this thoroughly—it is indeed the reason. In that case, let Melisseus go with you.”
“Melisseus is the playmate I specially created for them. They all know each other well, and the children trust him. Moreover, you are familiar with Melisseus too—this could not be better.”
Zeus nodded with a smile.
Plan a great success!
As expected, the divine persona painstakingly established over so long made the child-saving-urgent Mother Goddess of All Things think nothing of it!
Immediately, the impatient Mother Goddess of All Things summoned Melisseus. In Zeus’s presence, she carefully instructed him in detail to obey Zeus’s commands and to explain everything to the imprisoned giants.
After Zeus left with Melisseus, the loving eyes of the Mother Goddess of All Things were filled with anticipation for her children to see the light of day again. The joyful Mother Goddess of All Things finally slept her first good sleep since the war began.
The Mother Goddess, whose peace had been relentlessly disturbed during this time, suddenly learned of this great joyful news. Her mind finally relaxed, immersed in beautiful visions.
The relaxed and pleased Mother Goddess had not even thought of the most crucial issue.
That was, after Zeus won with the help of the six giants, how to deal with the former God King Cronus?
This question was completely overlooked in her joy.
This “good child” Zeus made her subconsciously feel he would not do anything too excessive.
After Zeus left, he smiled slightly—his objectives had all been achieved.
Everything he did today was mainly to obtain his Great Thunder!
Secondly, to gain several loyal and powerful helpers, and also to eliminate a potentially fatal hidden danger.
To prevent Gaia from stopping him, at the most critical moment, from casting Cronus into Tartarus!
Gaia is a loving mother. No matter how much she clashed with her own children, she would never think of casting them into the endless abyss to endure eternal torment.
That is not something any normal mother could do.
Mother Goddess Gaia’s ideas were too simple. She only wanted to overthrow God King Cronus’s tyrannical rule and replace him with a new God King.
But she had not thought of completely dealing with the God King, making him irredeemable. She had no such idea at all.
Whether completely devouring Cronus, annihilating his divinity, or casting him into Tartarus more terrifying than death—none were outcomes she could accept.
This is also why he was more willing to help Zeus than other gods.
Because Zeus is the Son of Cronus, deep in her heart she hoped for a power transition within the God King Family.
This way could be gentler, and Cronus’s final outcome could be relatively better, not too tragic.
In reality, with the war now at this stage, nearly all her children involved, it had far exceeded Mother Goddess Gaia’s expectations.
Mother Goddess Gaia clearly did not understand one reason: many things are easy to begin, but their subsequent development becomes uncontrollable.
Zeus had no doubt that even if this war ultimately decided a victor, on the matter of thoroughly resolving the God King, Gaia would inevitably intervene to stop him!
This is the complex and contradictory mood possessed by an ordinary mother.
Wanting her children to correct their wrongdoings with a harsh lesson, yet not truly wanting to harm them.
But for Zeus, what was contended for was the supreme authority over the entire universe. In this game of power and destiny, where was there any room for tenderness?
Even if he wanted to show mercy, that Cronus was not a god who would spare him!
Besides, they themselves had no emotion to begin with—having not much hatred already counted as him having magnanimity.
For trash like God King Cronus, if you talk emotion with him, will he talk it with you?
When he devoured one by one, he never talked it at all.
The opportunity to cast the God King into Tartarus comes only once! If the God King escapes and his divinity returns to the laws, then they would truly be in trouble.
The entire universe would never know peace afterward!
Therefore, at this most critical moment, there must be absolutely no chance given to Mother Goddess Gaia to intervene!
Is there a better method than using the release of the giants?
These six giants harbor a deadly feud with Cronus. Imprisoned by him in Tartarus for countless ages, they have accumulated inexpressible hatred and rage.
Tossing Cronus into Tartarus to taste that flavor—they would certainly cheer in approval, with the Hundred-armed Giant’s hundred arms all raised high in agreement!
Thinking of casting Cronus into Tartarus, they would wake from their dreams laughing.
Moreover, the six giants’ deadly feud with Tartarus cannot be reconciled. If Cronus is not dealt with, the threat to them remains forever.
Gaia faces children on both sides whose conflicts cannot be reconciled: one side the six children who suffered endless torment, the other side the four children who do not respect her.
Even if Gaia is most unwilling to choose, the answer to this cruel choice question is already predestined.
But the premise is to cook the rice into a done deal—accomplish the matter first, without giving her a chance to stop it!
After success, just coax the Mother Goddess of All Things well. After all, there was no deception, no promises made to her—she would have nothing to say.
Even for her own children’s future, she would not really make an irreconcilable mess—just some more verbal sparring at most.
Perfect!
