However, if the main and subordinate parties cooperate closely, their powers will perfectly align, and the might will increase geometrically, achieving twice the result with half the effort in an astonishing effect.
Therefore, generally, those gods who have hierarchical and subordinate relationships in laws will naturally form main-subordinate god relationships.
This is a natural alliance based on the order of cosmic laws: united they both benefit, divided they both suffer.
However, this subordinate relationship does not involve absolute control of the upper over the lower!
No matter how great the upper’s influence on the lower, no matter how tightly the authority covers downward, it is all indirect control!
Similar to the relationship between a king and regional lords; the king can of course directly command knights under the lords to do things, but the effect depends on the lords’ attitude, as well as the king’s own ability and majesty.
Also, not all laws’ birth necessarily involves a subordinate relationship.
Some laws’ birth, though related to the more primal laws that gestated them, if this association is weak, or essentially a mutually generating and restraining, opposing relationship.
Then even the “parent” laws cannot form effective control over them.
This is not a branch on the big tree, but the big tree’s seed detaching itself and growing freely; naturally, the big tree has no control.
For example: Light and Darkness.
Even when Light was still the child of Dark and Night, Dark and Night could not control Light. If they clash, it is purely a contest of each other’s divinity and divine power, but no control relationship exists.
However, Light and Daylight later became grafted; Light’s root was changed by Uranus to Light of Celestial Bodies, and Light and Daylight instead came under the control of Father of Celestial Bodies.
Poor Aether and Hemera, demoted a generation out of nowhere.
They were originally creation origin-level gods, but now they have become lesser gods of celestial bodies.
Many laws with derivation and association do not necessarily have tight subordinate relationships; the gestator may not necessarily be able to control them.
Just like Mother Goddess Gaia and her child.
Mother Goddess Gaia is powerful not because she is Earth, but because she is Mother of All, the foundation and source of all material existence.
Everything tangible and substantial in the universe, all material existence is under her control; everything affected by matter is influenced by her.
As a primal great god, the foundation of all material existence, her divinity and divine power are also immensely powerful.
However, she also has her limitations; she is not omnipotent after all.
For example, she cannot control many primal titans.
Because many primal titans are abstract concepts created by Uranus combining spirituality with matter, dark matter, and dark energy; they are not purely material compositions, and their existence essence has transcended the realm of pure matter.
In principle, she can only control material existence.
After many primal titans each control cosmic laws, the authority of the Mother of Matter is naturally compressed.
Though she is the foundation of the material world, she struggles to touch the law domains of non-material existences.
She cannot control any law gods of laws that are not purely material concepts.
However, Mother Goddess Gaia is ultimately the foundation of all existence; all life exists because of her.
Thus, she naturally controls many laws related to life, evolution, development, survival, and such.
This aspect of authority can indeed be called Earth Mother Goddess. But her core essence remains Mother of All.
This aspect of her authority is also relatively easy to be divided away; once divided, she can only indirectly control it, or even completely lose control.
Because as the universe evolves, many laws are no longer pure, but abstract concepts born from interactions of various laws; Mother of All also has her great limitations.
Not only Mother of All, but all gods are like this. The gestated laws may not obey them, and might even restrain them.
Gaia has no way to deal with Cronus, and Cronus can even find methods to restrain her in return.
Just like Poseidon; his most powerful authority is not sea and ocean, but earth-shaking.
The essence of earth-shaking is vibration; this vibration is energy transmission, the beginning of structure disintegration, and the most fundamental, primal impact on matter.
The power of vibration can shake the foundation of existence from the deepest layer of matter.
This is also why Gaia cannot tolerate Cronus; Cronus is digging at his mother god’s roots, and no matter how tolerant Gaia is, she must turn hostile.
Also, if a law is merely granted to another party for use, that is a small issue; law gods with independent self-existing divinity can restrict or revoke authorization at any time.
But if it is divided away, it becomes hard to take back.
The former can be understood as lending one’s own house for others to use; of course, the homeowner still has the final say.
The latter is transferring ownership of the house; then the former owner is nothing.
Therefore, in principle, as long as they are law gods who can greatly influence cosmic existence, not heavily constrained by other laws, possess high autonomy, and have divinity and divine power strong enough to be difficult to manipulate, they can be called main gods.
The reason God Kings are invincible is that they are strong enough to break existence itself, making world laws unable to affect them.
