Chapter 50: No Big Deal
Even though the God King knew that Gaia and Zeus were close, and might even be colluding in secret, he now dared not offend Gaia.
Gaia not directly helping Zeus was already the best news for him.
For this reason, even though Gaia clearly sheltered Pontus and prevented him from being involved in this war, Cronus could only suppress his rage and pretend nothing happened.
As soon as Mother Goddess Gaia left, Lady of Night stepped forward. Her entire being was shrouded in a hazy veil of night, making her form and features unclear.
A voice devoid of any meaning or emotion came from beneath the veil of night: “Your Majesty, the God King, and Great Mother Goddess of All Things, what you say is also what I have in mind.”
Lady of Night’s words were as calm as the Abyss, without any ripple.
“Your Majesty, the God King, this is a matter for the Divine Family, and more importantly, your family affair. I dare not be involved. If there are other orders, I will obey, but for now, I shall take my leave.”
Aether and Hemera, who had been anxious, wanted to leave this place that made them extremely uneasy, along with Nyx.
But Cronus’s silent, cold gaze fell upon them mercilessly.
They cried out in their hearts, but could only obediently stay in place, daring not to make any move.
Nyx, who was leaving, did not not want to take her children with her, but she was helpless.
At most, she could leave by herself; she could not take others with her.
The pitiable Light Aether and Daylight Hemera could only look at Hyperion and Theia, their eyes full of pleading.
After all, from the root of their existence, Hyperion and Theia were their “parents.”
They truly did not want to be entangled in the current great war. They knew very well that their brother and sister were purely Outer Gods; if a real fight broke out, they might not even have a chance to surrender.
Hyperion stepped forward and said, “Your Majesty, the God King, what the Great Mother Goddess and the Ruler of Night have said is also my view.”
“This is just a small family matter, and it can always be resolved peacefully. The Great Goddess Queen is gentle and loving-kindness, and you and the Goddess Queen have given birth to remarkable Great Gods.”
“Please, Great God King, do not act impulsively and do something you will regret. Nothing in this world is more important than family.”
“If Your Majesty, the God King, is truly harmed by outsiders, I, Hyperion, even at a heavy cost, will certainly help Your Majesty, the God King.”
“But all disputes within the family should not involve outsiders; this will only escalate the conflict and make it unresolvable.”
He bowed respectfully to Cronus: “Your Majesty, the God King, please communicate properly with the Goddess Queen. I shall take my leave now.”
Hyperion’s words directly downgraded the rebellion into a family dispute.
He was adept at making big issues small, small issues into nothing, and then making them disappear.
The most serious matter, under his words, simply became an acceptable and perfectly normal small issue.
Since it was all a small matter, how could outsiders get involved?
He used this to make his escape.
Cronus’s expression became even uglier. He hurriedly spoke to dissuade him: “Hyperion, my dear brother, this is no longer a simple family dispute!”
“This concerns all the honor of us Titans! Please, for the sake of our camaraderie as Sons of Uranus, please extend your hand and help me.”
Cronus no longer cared about the dignity of a God King, as he had no dignity left anyway.
The battle with Zeus had also made him deeply understand that without help this time, the problem might not be solved.
Even more terrifyingly, if Zeus received help, then victory might be on Zeus’s side!
Now, even if he couldn’t get the help of the Great Gods, he absolutely couldn’t let them become an advantage for the enemy.
Hyperion merely smiled and shook his head, his tone carrying an indefinable charm: “Great God King, what are you saying? We are the closest brothers, comrades who share honey wine and ambrosia.”
“Many of us Gods have sworn allegiance to you and should accept your command.”
“If you are truly harmed by outsiders, I will definitely help you with all my might. But the situation has not yet reached the point of no return. You can still salvage the Goddess Queen.”
He deliberately mentioned Rhea, his words carrying deeper meaning, “After all, didn’t the Goddess Queen once love and revere you so much? Perhaps everything is still not too late.”
Hyperion bowed respectfully to Cronus: “Your Majesty, the God King, goodbye.”
As soon as his words fell, he gave Cronus no further chance to retain him and turned to leave without hesitation.
His wife Theia followed closely, a light smile on her lips, unhidden.
As they passed by Aether and Hemera, he waved his hand, and together they transformed into radiance and returned to the starry sky.
Cronus nearly fainted from anger, roaring in his heart, if this isn’t beyond salvaging, then what is?
However, this was not the end.
Immediately after, Crius also spoke: “Your Majesty, the God King, what Mother Goddess and the Great Gods have said are the supreme truths of the world. Hyperion’s words are my words.”
He repeated the same reasoning, leaving no room for maneuver: “Nothing in this world is more important than family. It is still not too late to salvage the situation now.”
“I will abide by the promises I made, but I made those promises to both Your Majesty the God King and the Goddess Queen. I am loyal to you, but I cannot act against the Goddess Queen.”
“Moreover, how can I possibly break up your family? Goodbye, Your Majesty, the God King.”
After Crius spoke, he vanished instantly, leaving Cronus with an even more ashen face.
Coeus and Phoebe, husband and wife of Insight and Wisdom, exchanged a glance and understood each other.
They immediately bid their elegant farewells using the same reasoning.
This pair of Titans of Insight and Intelligence understood too well at this moment that they could not get involved in this mess. Cronus’s chances of winning were probably not high now.
When an opportunity arose, Leto and Asteria should be sent to the Son of Cronus.
After these two wise Titans departed, Themis, the Goddess of Sacred Order and Justice, and Mnemosyne, the Goddess of Memory and Civilization, exchanged a subtle glance and were also about to leave for the same reason.
When the direction of events is unclear, follow the steps of the wise.
Moreover, they could see clearly.
Cronus’s face was now so grim that ice chips could be scraped from it. Iapetus, seeing that the Divine Palace was about to be empty, hurriedly tried to dissuade him: “Respected Themis, the Sacred Order.”
“Among the Gods, you most adhere to Sacred Order. You are the defender of the Universe’s Justice and Order. Will you also stand by and watch as the order of the Universe is challenged?”
The other Gods could be ignored, but Themis was one of the top powerhouses among the Primal Titans, and her help must be secured.
