Chapter 175: Swift Wind Four’s Invitation
The medic, grumbling inwardly, still picked up the binoculars at hand. As a result, just like last time, he did not spot any members of the Gale Squad.
Either Chang Ning was too nervous and misjudged, and Gale Squad did not send anyone to the North District, or the opponent was hiding in a house.
The binoculars in the medic’s hand did not have infrared functionality, so he could not see the situation inside the houses.
“Sha Po Lang, I have not discovered any traces of the enemy. Be careful yourself.”
“Received.”
The medic’s response was within Chang Ning’s expectations. The reason for asking the Sniper Team for help was to have them handle threats from the external environment.
Chang Ning was confident he could take out the enemies inside the house himself; his CQB scores were the best in the team.
“Team Leader, bad news. Lone Wolf B Team is here!”
If he had not seen that fleeting figure with his own eyes, Swift Wind Four would not have believed that B Team would arrive so quickly.
One must know that there were over a hundred kilometers between this training ground and the barracks.
“They actually arrived so fast. Not unworthy of being Lone Wolf.”
Before, because everyone was a newcomer, he had not paid much attention to Lone Wolf B Team.
Now that they had been taught a lesson right in front of them, Gale Squad’s Team Leader immediately straightened up his attitude.
“Number Four, how many people are on the other side?” Number One asked.
“I only saw one person.”
While Chang Ning was communicating with the Sniper Team, Swift Wind Four did not react immediately. He stayed in place and observed for a while, confirming that only one person had come to the North District.
Feeling indignant inside, how much did they look down on Gale Squad to send only one person in when the enemy and friend were unclear.
Even if it was Lone Wolf probing, they should at least send a two-person team.
After silently scheming in his mind, Gale Squad’s Team Leader issued an order to Number Four: “You go probe them. Be careful not to engage the opponent frequently.”
Lone Wolf’s reputation made Gale Squad’s Team Leader very wary. He was afraid that Number Four would be seized and taken out if he contacted them too frequently.
In squad combat, every person was precious immediate firepower. They could decide the victory and tilt the balance.
Therefore, both Gale Squad and Lone Wolf could not afford losses.
To be safe, Gale Squad’s Team Leader decided to have Number Four probe the opponent first and gauge whether Lone Wolf B Team’s strength was as formidable as rumored.
“Received.”
After receiving the Team Leader’s order, Number Four turned and left. Probing was not about hard clashes.
The opponent’s earlier behavior clearly indicated they had spotted someone around. If he did not leave now, he might fail the probe and get himself caught instead.
The correct approach was to first find a suitable place for an ambush, then wait patiently.
Gale Squad had arrived at this newly built training ground ahead of B Team and was relatively familiar with the layout. Finding a spot for an ambush in the North District was easy; the difficult part was getting the target to obediently enter his prepared hunting ground.
So when Number Four left, he deliberately did not clear the traces he left behind, clearly hoping Chang Ning would follow him.
“Do you have any other needs there?”
Seeing that Chang Ning was not speaking, the medic took the initiative to ask. He needed to quickly finish things on Chang Ning’s side and then go assist Ostrich.
According to the pre-discussed plan, their Sniper Team should wait until Chang Ning finished clearing the North District and established a support position before infiltrating the West Area.
However, it was not set in stone that they must follow the plan exactly.
Ostrich and the medic scanned the West Area with binoculars over and over but still did not find anything amiss. Plus, it looked like Chang Ning’s side could already smell meat.
So the two discussed and decided to infiltrate the West Area without waiting for Chang Ning. They were afraid that waiting longer might leave them without even a sip of soup.
Ostrich believed that with his and the medic’s strength, although not as perverted as Chang Ning’s, they were not far behind.
In terms of physical fitness, only Chang Ning in B Team could steadily suppress Ostrich; in close combat, the medic from a martial arts family and traditional Chinese medicine family background was not intimidated by anyone. Even if Chang Ning cheated, it would be hard to take him down.
With this lineup, if Chang Ning was B Team’s peak in individual combat, then the Sniper Team was B Team’s most reliable backup. In the final moments, Ostrich and the medic were everyone’s lifeline.
“None at the moment.”
Chang Ning just thought the medic was eager to help Ostrich, so his tone was a bit urgent. He did not know that the Sniper Team had already decided not to wait for him.
Right now, Chang Ning had no energy to guess the Sniper Team’s movements. He was currently pitting his wits against thin air.
The earlier feeling of being watched was very faint, so Chang Ning could not lock onto the opponent immediately.
In a situation where the enemy was hidden and he was exposed, Chang Ning had to treat every step cautiously, so his movement speed was not fast.
By the time he searched to an unfinished room five hundred meters from that small white building earlier, the sky had gradually darkened.
The surroundings were quiet. B Team and Gale Squad’s people had not yet encountered each other, and the distance between both sides was rapidly closing.
“This should be one of Gale Squad’s strongholds.”
Chang Ning quietly pushed open the door of the unfinished room. A long time had passed from when he was discovered to when he entered the unfinished room. Since the opponent had not chosen to engage him, it meant the person had most likely already left.
However, for safety, Chang Ning did not relax and continued using tactical maneuvers to search the compartments inside the unfinished room.
“Found it.”
Persistence paid off. Finally, Chang Ning discovered footprints in the secondary bedroom near the window.
From here, the view of that previous white two-story small building was very open.
If a machine gun position was set up here, the street ahead would be easily locked down.
Without heavy firepower to assault, it would be impossible to take this street without heavy losses.
“Why leave footprints? Was it carelessness?”
Chang Ning squatted next to the footprints, pondering.
Do not underestimate footprints on the ground; professional forensic personnel can judge a person’s approximate build and height from footprints.
“No, he did it on purpose!”
They were all special forces soldiers, and the opponent had recently been training under Gao Zhong Dui. There was no reason to make such a mistake.
“He wants me to follow? This is interesting.”
Chang Ning did not know exactly which number of Gale Squad the opponent was, but those who dared to play like this usually had some real skills.
“Since you want to play, I’ll play with you!”
In this unfinished room, Chang Ning did not discover anyone besides the owner of the footprints, meaning that from start to finish, only one person had spotted him.
This time, Chang Ning wanted to see which warrior dared to challenge him one-on-one.
To be honest, with Chang Ning’s current overall strength, in Wolf Fang, only a few old birds could suppress him.
This definitely did not include those from Gale Squad.
Due to the high confidentiality level of the Lone Wolf Commando Unit, the training for A and B Teams was actually separate from other squads. Therefore, most in Wolf Fang had not seen Chang Ning go all out.
Walking out of the unfinished room and looking at the intermittent footprints on the road, Chang Ning inwardly sighed that the opponent could not even pretend convincingly.
With the invitation practically slapped in his face, Chang Ning felt it would be impolite not to go.
He was also curious who was lining up against him.
