Chapter 161: Rules
Geng Jihui drew the club 6, while Gao Zhong Dui drew the club K.
“According to the rules, my points are higher than yours, so I can make the first choice.”
After saying that, Gao Zhong Dui chose the Red Team, leaving Chang Ning and the others with the Blue Team.
“As the Blue Team, you can use all standard weapon equipment. There are no restrictions on the origin of these weapons and equipment. Anything you can find in our Warehouse, you can take.”
This is a small benefit provided to the Blue Team. They will be playing the role of foreign military in this Exercise.
Everyone could tell what Gao Zhong Dui meant by his words. Playing the foreign military is no easy task.
Especially in this kind of small-team combat, they won’t gain any advantage at all. Moreover, their opponents are an experienced special operations team with perfect tacit understanding, making the difficulty extremely high.
Even using foreign military weapons, at best they could carry rocket launchers and grenade launchers, but don’t forget that shells also have weight. Carrying more shells will inevitably take up space for other supplies.
Besides, no one knows where this Assessment will take place—indoors or outdoors?
Different places naturally require different weapons. Indoors would mean more breaching weapons, while outdoors would prioritize firepower.
Different Assessment tasks will also affect Chang Ning and the others’ weapon choices.
Gao Zhong Dui hasn’t mentioned any of these conditions so far. How are they supposed to choose weapons?
Choosing wrong would be a disaster!
“So what are the rules and judgment standards for the Exercise?”
Military Exercises differ from variety shows. To get closer to the real battlefield, the Operations Department only provides a script outline. Specific details are often left to free play by the Red and Blue Sides. As long as they don’t exceed the script’s framework, the Operations Department won’t intervene easily.
Geng Jihui asked Gao Zhong Dui about the Exercise rules and judgment standards to figure out the script’s story outline, making it easier for them to formulate a combat plan and allocate firepower.
“The Exercise rules are simple: the behavior of the Red and Blue Sides must align with their respective positions. No soldier deaths or injuries allowed.
The judgment standard is: the Red Team wins by eliminating the Blue Team and successfully rescuing the hostage. For the Blue Team to win, their combat attrition rate must not exceed half of the team—that is, no more than 3 people from your side exit the Exercise—then hold out for half an hour under the Red Team’s attack or eliminate the Red Team.”
These things would have to be told to Group B sooner or later, so Gao Zhong Dui didn’t hold back on this.
After hearing Gao Zhong Dui explain the Exercise rules, everyone in Group B, including the extra member Chang Ning, showed worried expressions. Some even lost control of their facial expressions, their faces pulling long.
From the rules, it was clear they were being targeted. The Red Team’s win conditions were just two simple ones with few restrictions. In comparison, Group B was treated like a stepchild—already with multiple win conditions plus the combat attrition rate limit.
If the opponents were anyone else, it might be manageable, but they were facing Wolf Fang’s most elite special operations team, all members at their physical peak as adult males, with top-notch combat power. On the surface, Chang Ning and Group B had no chance of winning.
What the hell is there to play!
After hearing those harsh rules, Chang Ning immediately lay flat, his slacking off expression plain on his face.
“I know what you’re all thinking, but don’t forget the original purpose of holding this Confrontation Exercise.”
At these words, everyone was snapped awake by Gao Zhong Dui.
They had all been blinded by their desire to win. The Exercise was meant to test their training results—how could it reveal true levels without strict rules?
Reminded by Gao Zhong Dui, everyone’s mindset quickly shifted. Slacking off and lying flat wouldn’t cut it. Even if the result was doomed, they had to give it their all. Who could say they were certain to win until the end?
The rules favored Gao Zhong Dui and his team, but they weren’t pushovers either. Even if they lost in the end, they wanted to make it a pyrrhic victory for Gao Zhong Dui and the others…
Such thoughts kept surfacing in Chang Ning and Group B’s minds.
Seeing everyone regain confidence so quickly, Gao Zhong Dui felt gratified. At least on the surface, these people weren’t soft. His and Hui Lang’s hard work over the past few months hadn’t been in vain.
Gao Zhong Dui didn’t show these thoughts. His gaze remained sharp, his expression stern.
Whenever his gaze swept over Chang Ning and the others, everyone felt somewhat uneasy, even Chang Ning.
This state of Gao Zhong Dui was unfamiliar to Chang Ning and Group B’s members. The last time Gao Zhong Dui was like this was during their Wolf Fang selection in Devil Week.
Back then, Gao Zhong Dui had no warmth or emotion at all—he was pure Devil.
Seeing Gao Zhong Dui enter this familiar state, the ease lingering on Chang Ning’s face quickly vanished. His relaxed skin tightened, and his expression turned serious.
His intuition told him that if they didn’t take this Lone Wolf internal confrontation seriously, the consequences wouldn’t be pleasant.
“Very good!
From your expressions, I can see you’ve shed those unwarranted emotions and thoughts.
For the upcoming confrontation, please treat it with utmost seriousness. If I catch anyone performing below standard, I guarantee your future training will be worse than Hell Week!”
With that, Gao Zhong Dui spat out the tasteless weeds he’d been chewing from his mouth, got into the car, and left.
“Alright, everyone relax.”
After his partner left, Hui Lang chuckled and said to Chang Ning and the others. In the team, he and Gao Zhong Dui always had perfect tacit understanding—one playing good cop, the other bad cop.
Gao Zhong Dui pressured the newcomers, while he eased it, but he couldn’t let them completely let loose.
“Though it’s not as serious as Gao Zhong Dui made it sound, it’s no small matter.
The military’s informationization reform in recent years isn’t a secret. I’m sure you’ve heard some news.”
Changing his tone here, Ma Da continued: “The confrontation training between Lone Wolf Group A and Group B will have senior leaders coming to observe.”
Some things are best left unsaid fully. What Hui Lang revealed was quite substantial—almost explicit.
No one present was stupid. A little thinking made it clear what was going on.
Clearly, this internal confrontation training between their two groups also involved Wolf Fang’s future prospects, which no one could take lightly.
Though Chang Ning and Group B hadn’t been in Wolf Fang long, they had developed a strong sense of belonging here.
People are emotional animals. Even prolonged contact with a lifeless object can create attachment, let alone daily interactions with Gao Zhong Dui, Ma Da, and the others. He Da Dui wasn’t around often, but he was great to them too.
So this time, unspoken but certain—they had to go all out!
“I’ve said what needed saying. Do you have any issues to report? I’ll help solve them later.”
After speaking, Hui Lang saw no reaction from Chang Ning and Group B, knowing they had no issues, so he continued: “Since there are no problems, sort your parachute packs, grab your weapon equipment, and check the surroundings for any left-behind items.”
At his command, all soldiers at the landing site, under their leading officers’ assignments, took responsibility for their areas and quickly and carefully inspected the surroundings.
“Report, none.”
“Report, none.”
