Chapter 157: The “familiar” Girl
A middle-aged man with a slight beer belly walked towards him, his square face looking somewhat stern.
Seeing the teacher arrive, the students who had crowded together to watch the excitement immediately scattered like birds and beasts with a “whoosh.”
Chang Ning was stunned again, not because of the teacher in front of him who was reprimanding the girl for her haircut, but because he hadn’t expected the girl to be Lin Miaomiao.
“This doesn’t make sense. Isn’t Lin Miaomiao’s home in Jiangzhou City? Why would she appear in a small county town in Donghai City? Could it be a coincidence of names?”
Chang Ning thought about it and felt it wasn’t right. Even if it was a coincidence of names, it was impossible for the appearance to be copied too, and the timeline didn’t match up either.
“If it’s real, then it means this world might still be a multi-film comprehensive plane.”
“Hey, hey, comrade, do you need any help?”
The square-faced man interrupted Chang Ning’s thoughts.
“Oh, no. If it’s convenient, please provide me with a working desk phone.”
Chang Ning said.
Lin Miaomiao nearby was secretly looking at Chang Ning. In her whole life, she had never seen such a good-looking military uniform.
“Why are you still here? Hurry back to the classroom; I’ll come over to teach in a bit.”
Seeing that Lin Miaomiao, the troublemaker, was still there, the square-faced homeroom teacher’s anger began to rise again.
“Got it.”
Lin Miaomiao saw the situation wasn’t good, smiled at Chang Ning, then pulled her best friend and quickly ran off. Her sixth sense told her that staying longer would lead to bad things.
“Sorry for the spectacle. The kids at our school are all quite lively.”
The square-faced homeroom teacher explained.
“Being lively is good. The leader once said children should be like the sun at eight or nine in the morning, full of youthful vigor! If they were all like frostbitten eggplants, what hope would our country have?”
“I didn’t expect you, young comrade, to look so young yet understand great truths more than someone like me stepping into middle age.”
The square-faced homeroom teacher hadn’t expected Chang Ning to say something so insightful and inwardly exclaimed that the unit’s ideological education was impeccable—truly impressive!
The two arrived in an office where the teachers without classes all showed surprised expressions upon seeing a young soldier enter, since Chang Ning had caused quite a commotion.
Leading Chang Ning to the desk phone, the square-faced homeroom teacher then took the other teachers and left.
Chang Ning actually hadn’t wanted the teachers to leave; he wouldn’t use outside communication tools to say anything sensitive anyway.
It was also a kind gesture on their part, and afterwards it could avoid some trouble. Thinking of this, Chang Ning didn’t stop the teachers from leaving.
Picking up the phone, Chang Ning dialed a series of numbers, and soon the other end picked up…
“Something’s off! Chang Ning drifted in this direction, so why is there not even a single trace?”
After searching for half a day without finding any trace of Chang Ning, Gao Zhong Dui grew increasingly anxious.
“In this situation, either Chang Ning drifted into an uninhabited restricted area, or he changed his flight path midway.”
Hui Lang said with a bitter smile. With Chang Ning still not found, all the soldiers involved in the search were feeling down.
He Da Dui, stationed at the center, was also extremely anxious. The longer time passed, the greater the life-threatening danger to Chang Ning.
The surroundings were all undeveloped wilderness with abundant wild animal resources. Even though Chang Ning had received training in this area, accidents were hard to prevent.
What if Chang Ning broke his arms or legs upon landing? In the wilderness, the chances of survival would greatly decrease.
“No news yet?”
The guard didn’t speak, just shook his head. The captain had asked him three times in half an hour, on average once every ten minutes about news of Chang Ning.
The problem was that there was still no good news from Gao Zhong Dui’s side. Occasional messages came through, but they had little to do with Chang Ning—just reports of the search teams’ current positions and such.
“Captain, we have news on Chang Ning.”
The communicator jumped up from his seat excitedly and quickly handed the telegram just received from the barracks to He Zhijun.
“Really! Let me see!”
Hearing it was news about Chang Ning, He Zhijun hurriedly took the telegram. Chang Ning couldn’t have an accident; last time at the meeting, the leaders all thought highly of him, and he was involved in some follow-up plans.
If something happened to Chang Ning now, it would inevitably be a major loss for the military region, and He Zhijun wouldn’t know how to explain it to the old leader.
After reading the telegram, He Zhijun was overjoyed, the worry and distress in his brows and eyes swept away.
“That brat! Comrade Gao Zhong Dui, have the soldiers return to camp. Chang Ning has been found.”
“Yes!”
The guard happily went to pass on the order, thrilled because the leader was happy!
After briefly explaining his location and physical condition over the phone, Chang Ning walked out of the office, listening to the loud reading voices echoing in the corridor, his inner restlessness gradually calming.
It had been a long time since he left school. Placing himself in such an environment again inevitably brought a sense of wistful loss.
“Why are you still here?”
When the bell rang, Lin Miaomiao rushed out and saw Chang Ning leaning on the railing gazing into the distance, so she stepped forward and asked. But coming from her mouth, the words felt a bit off.
“I didn’t mean it that way.”
Realizing her words sounded like chasing him away, Lin Miaomiao quickly explained.
“No need to explain. I know what you mean.
You’re wondering why I’m still at school when I’m neither a student nor a teacher, right?”
Chang Ning said in a gentle tone. He was always patient with people younger than him, except for bratty kids.
“Yes, yes!”
Lin Miaomiao nodded repeatedly with a smile, afraid Chang Ning would misunderstand her.
“I had a little issue during training, so I ended up at your school.
I just notified my unit, so now I just need to stay put and wait for them to pick me up.”
Perhaps it was Chang Ning’s unusual military uniform that piqued Lin Miaomiao’s curiosity, so she asked, “Big brother, why is your military uniform different from those of the troops on the news?”
“Because our unit is quite special,” Chang Ning said.
“Can you tell me about it? How special?” Lin Miaomiao’s voice was soft and very pleasant.
“You’ll be disappointed. Our unit has a very high security clearance; I can’t tell you.
You wouldn’t want big brother to violate discipline, right?”
“Alright then, I won’t ask. I’m Lin Miaomiao. What’s your name?”
Looking at Lin Miaomiao who extended her hand, Chang Ning smiled: “Chang Ning. Nice to meet you.”
Chang Ning reached out and lightly shook hands with Lin Miaomiao; the two had formally met.
“Beep beep!”
The sound of a car horn interrupted their conversation. Chang Ning looked toward the sound and saw the entire B Group had arrived.
“Wow, that’s too cool.”
Six people got out of the military vehicle wearing the same hunter camouflage as Chang Ning, though they had replaced the Wolf Fang armband with another.
The six soldiers in camouflage, wearing sunglasses, walked toward the school. The surroundings were filled with masculine beauty and the wild aura of military life, giving off an intimidating vibe at first glance.
Standing by the roadside, even barbecue shops like King of Fighters had to keep a low profile.
“My comrades are here to pick me up. See you around if fate allows.”
After bidding farewell to Lin Miaomiao, Chang Ning walked toward B Group.
