Chapter 14: March 7th Awakens Martial Spirit
Confirmed, Stelle is that silly person. March 7th nodded.
“Is there any way? Who made me unable to remember my past memories? Isn’t it normal that I can’t say something as organized as Teacher Dan Heng?” March 7th still defended herself.
Hearing March 7th mention memory, Meng Huaifeng glanced at the three of them.
One forced into reincarnation with incomplete past memories, one with no memories before being frozen, and one with only a few days of memories.
The three of them couldn’t piece together a complete memory.
Fortunately, he hadn’t lost his memory and filled the team’s blank.
“I feel like you’re thinking something rude.” March 7th looked at Meng Huaifeng suspiciously.
“Illusion, all illusion.” Meng Huaifeng gave an awkward laugh and changed the topic: “Shall we go experience the local specialty and awaken our Martial Spirits?”
The Martial Spirit System is much weaker than Destiny, but just because it’s weak, they couldn’t even experience and understand it?
What’s wrong with traveling to another place to experience the local specialty?
Because he was strong, scorning weak things by comparing them to himself would be too arrogant.
Regardless of strength or weakness, anything he didn’t understand was worth pioneering, exploring, and understanding.
“Can we?” Dan Heng frowned.
Martial Spirit should be the special talent of people in this world, right?
They weren’t people of this world; could they really awaken Martial Spirits?
“Go, of course we go! Let’s try it. I’m really curious what Martial Spirit I can awaken.” March 7th was very interested and said excitedly.
“Then let’s go. I’ve already asked where the Spirit Hall in this city is.” Meng Huaifeng said.
“Stelle, hurry up. You… what are you doing?! You can’t rummage through the trash can!” March 7th glanced at Stelle and immediately let out a groundhog-like scream, rushing over to pull her away.
“Wait! I haven’t seen clearly what’s inside yet!” Stelle struggled hard.
“What can be inside? Of course it’s trash!”
“What trash?”
Meng Huaifeng looked at Dan Heng: “Was she like this before?”
Dan Heng silently recalled Stelle’s behavior at the Herta Space Station and slowly nodded: “There were signs of this at the previous stop.”
“This is a form of pioneering too, isn’t it?” Meng Huaifeng shrugged.
“…You’re right.” Dan Heng acknowledged.
Spirit Hall is the largest Spirit Master organization on the Douluo Continent, providing free Martial Spirit awakenings for commoners long-term, issuing Golden Soul Coins to low-level Spirit Masters so they can focus more energy on cultivation without worrying about livelihood. It also restrains advanced Spirit Masters, maintains order in the Spirit Master world, and suppresses Evil Spirit Masters.
Pulling Stelle to the Spirit Hall, Meng Huaifeng, as the one who knew the Douluo Continent best, stepped forward to negotiate with the gate guard.
“Big Brother, we want to request someone to help awaken our Martial Spirits. Who should we find?” Meng Huaifeng asked politely.
The gate guard glanced at the four and saw from their attire that they weren’t ordinary people, but they hadn’t brought children, so he reminded them: “Outside of the designated awakening days set by Spirit Hall, requesting a steward to awaken Martial Spirits costs one Golden Soul Coin. If you want the steward to come to your door, it costs an extra ten Golden Soul Coins. Turn right in the first-floor lobby to the second office; Steward Liu is on duty today.”
“Thanks for the reminder.” Meng Huaifeng thanked him.
The lobby was gathered with quite a few Spirit Masters, some coming to certify their Spirit Master levels, some to collect their monthly subsidies.
Passing through the lobby, the four arrived at Steward Liu’s office as the gate guard had said.
Knocking on the door, a “Come in” reply came from inside.
Opening the door, the first thing that came into view was the Martial Spirit awakening array in the center of the room. To the right was a desk, and a young woman wearing a white tight-fitting outfit and black cloak with a “Soul” emblem on her chest was sitting there.
Steward Liu glanced at the four and took out paper and pen for the routine: “Awakening Martial Spirits? The children aren’t here? Field service is ten Golden Soul Coins. Which village? How many people?”
“Please have Steward Liu awaken our Martial Spirits. This is the awakening fee.” Meng Huaifeng took out the four Golden Soul Coins Flander had given and placed them on the desk.
“You all?” Steward Liu was stunned, suspecting she had misheard.
“Yes, just us.” Meng Huaifeng nodded affirmatively.
“No, you’re all this age and haven’t awakened Martial Spirits yet?” Steward Liu still found it unbelievable.
Spirit Hall’s influence covered the entire continent; even in the most remote mountains, Spirit Hall stewards went regularly each year to awaken Martial Spirits for people. How could anyone be this old without having awakened one?
“Well, the reason is hard to explain, but we really don’t have Martial Spirits yet.” Meng Huaifeng felt a bit embarrassed under Steward Liu’s gaze.
“Alright.” Steward Liu finally believed it and reminded them: “You’re all this age already; whether you awaken a Martial Spirit or not doesn’t matter much. Even if you have Innate Soul Power, having missed the dozen or so years when Soul Power grows fastest, it’s hard to achieve anything.”
“Thanks for the concern, Steward. We know, we’re just a bit curious what our Martial Spirits are like.” Meng Huaifeng said.
“From your demeanor and attire, you’re not ordinary people and clearly don’t care about a few Golden Soul Coins. Fine, I’ll awaken your Martial Spirits for you. Who wants to go first?” Steward Liu stopped prying and asked.
“Me me me!” March 7th eagerly raised her hand.
“Then the others please go out first. Girl, stand in the center of the array.” Steward Liu walked to the awakening array and said to March 7th.
Meng Huaifeng and the other two left the office, and March 7th stepped into the array as instructed.
“What do I do?” March 7th asked nervously, not even knowing if she, as an outsider, had a Martial Spirit.
“You don’t need to do anything; just follow my instructions later.” Steward Liu didn’t waste time and directly summoned her Martial Spirit, a scythe floating in her palm.
Then her hands quickly clapped out, six faint green lights injecting into the six black Awakening Stones on the ground. Immediately, a layer of golden light radiated from the six stones, forming a pale golden light barrier that enveloped March 7th.
The array was set for six-year-old children, and March 7th looked extremely cramped inside the light barrier.
Golden light spots floated out one by one from the Awakening Stones on the ground and entered March 7th’s body.
March 7th clearly felt an energy different from Imaginary Energy appear in her body, producing a magical change with some special quality within her.
Just as the change was about to end, a strand of Imaginary Energy automatically merged into it. March 7th felt that with a single thought she could stop the change and expel the energy, but she didn’t, quietly waiting for the change to finish.
In the office, the temperature suddenly dropped by over ten degrees. Snowflakes appeared out of thin air, dancing around March 7th, and in her right hand appeared a snowflake-shaped Ice Crystal, crystal clear, constantly reflecting sunlight and shimmering brilliantly.
“Ice Element Martial Spirit, so beautiful. This… this astonishing phenomenon means it’s at least a top-tier Martial Spirit!” Steward Liu exclaimed.
“Quick, test the Soul Power.”
Steward Liu picked up the Crystal Ball from the desk and placed it in March 7th’s hand.
March 7th instinctively inputted Imaginary Energy into the Crystal Ball, which instantly lit up like a lightbulb.
