Chapter 156: Method To Transport The Gold
The story splits into two threads.
While Aoxi and the others were eating in the canteen, Obei was also chatting with Miss La about the awakening of their powers this time.
……
“I see, so this is the trigger for your powers to awaken further.”
Obei was strolling along the seaside with Miss La while talking about the process of her and Aoxi’s awakening.
“That’s right, after my thoughts connected, I naturally entered partial Illusion God Transformation.”
“And Sis… I know Aoxi too well; she shouted about dreams and hopes and succeeded right away.”
“Hmm…”
Miss La lowered her head slightly and pondered for a moment upon hearing Obei’s description.
“Aoxi is dreams, and you are peace~”
“It doesn’t seem to have much direct relation to your own authorities.”
Underworld God and hope, destruction god and peace… saying they are completely unrelated might be an exaggeration.
But as factors for awakening, shouldn’t they be more strongly related things like… death and war?
However, this actually isn’t a bad thing… at least Miss La doesn’t want Obei and Aoxi to get involved in these things too early.
As children, they need a correct and positive childhood to reshape their worldview, which is essential for a new life to mature.
Moreover, breaking free from rigid understanding of their original authorities and finding a new path suited to themselves… perhaps this is the correct way to unleash their powers?
Redefining the powers of gods with human creativity sounds quite wonderful, doesn’t it?
“Maybe, but I tend to think this is an extension of the original authorities.”
“After all, the so-called mythology system is essentially an open-source story that gets constantly reimagined and fused as civilization develops.”
“After all, who knows when ‘Miss La’ might gain another incarnation?”
Obei said teasingly.
After going out once, she even learned to joke with Miss La… is this what they call growth?
The two chatted casually like this, leaving two long trails of footprints on the beach.
……
“Ember, are you telling the truth?”
“That’s right, the Golden Land is about 10,000 meters up in the sky, and it hasn’t been discovered by any factions yet.”
“So that place is already my territory, huh?”
Hearing this great news, Kaido couldn’t help but clap and laugh, then picked up the wine gourd he had secretly filled at Whitebeard’s and took a hearty swig.
That brat Miss La being lured away is good too; no one to watch him, perfect for sneaking a good drink!
“Uro-ro-ro-ro! With all that gold, according to what Miss La said before, can we accelerate the start of our ‘World War Plan’?”
“In theory, yes. With sufficient funds, the previously stalled weapon research and development and mass production projects can continue.”
“Obei brought back many magical shells from Sky Island this time; maybe we can make something surprising.”
Ember was also quite optimistic about those shells from the Shandia people; equipping those rocket launchers to the rank-and-file pirates could significantly boost their combat power.
“That brat Obei, huh? Yeah, something to really look forward to.”
Kaido also had considerable confidence in Obei, the brat who usually had low presence; after all, she was Miss La’s sister.
“But first, we need to transport that gold back. Whether by sea route or air route, that’s no small trouble.”
Ember finally raised this problem that currently had no good solution.
For sea transport… using the Beasts Pirates’ ships carries too much risk; they’d easily get robbed by the Navy or shortsighted pirates.
After all, in the eyes of New World folks, the strengths from the Four Seas and ‘Paradise’ are nothing much, but their guts are all fat.
Newborn calves not fearing Godzilla, so to speak.
But using those underground sea transport companies means commissions that are too high.
Those guys are professional and dare to transport any contraband, but they charge a percentage of the cargo’s total value.
The more valuable the goods, the higher their cut, treating everyone the same.
Even if you’re transporting their boss’s head, you pay the full amount, not a penny less.
Shipping ten ships of gold only to lose one to fees—who could stomach that?
And it’s not easy to threaten them with force, since sea transport is indispensable for both underworld and legitimate paths, involving too broad interests and factions; pulling one thread moves the whole New World.
“Do we really have to send someone to shuttle back and forth as a porter?”
Kaido glanced at Ember, then looked away.
At fifteen, though he had grown tall quickly, he was still skinny-armed and skinny-legged, unable to haul much gold at a time.
Does he really have to go himself?
No way, he, the captain of the Beasts Pirates… no, now Governor-General, how could he pull cargo like a mule?
Better to trick brats like Aoxi or Obei into doing it…
While Kaido was thinking how to fool the kids, Wright, who had been silent nearby, spoke up.
“Didn’t Miss La say she’d handle this? Why not ask her for a good method.”
“Hmm?”
“Was there such a thing?”
Kaido looked at Ember.
“Yes, she did mention it offhand. But I don’t know what method she could use.”
Ember thought completing this tough task would still require Kaido to mobilize the crew’s resources, but Kaido didn’t see it that way.
“Whatever~ Since Miss La said so, just hand it to her directly.”
From what Kaido knew of Miss La, for her, things were basically about whether she wanted to, not whether she could.
If she said she’d handle it, just entrust it to her and wait for the result—like a handy all-purpose wish-granting machine.
Too bad it couldn’t be used anytime anywhere, only occasionally when she was in a good mood.
“I’m going now to see where to build my first weapon factory! You come along too, help staff officer it out.”
“The first factory has to be built huge!”
“Uro-ro-ro-ro!”
Laughing skyward as he went out the door—my generation is no longer short on money!
……
Just as Kaido thought, Miss La did have the most suitable and secretive method to transfer that gold.
【Millennium Puzzle】—this millennium artifact, which had progressed slowly since being explored once at the start, could finally be useful somewhere else.
By using its internal nearly infinite Mind Room, Miss La could easily transfer the gold from the entire island.
Sometimes you can’t help but marvel at how convenient a space prop is; without this Millennium Puzzle, Kaido and the other two little ones would all have to be sent by Miss La to work as mules.
Unfortunately, after the Hachinosu Island incident, it hadn’t shown any obvious commotion; those gates to different worlds shrouded in black mist had loosened a bit, but with Miss La’s current power, she still couldn’t fully open them.
Barriers between worlds aren’t that easy to break after all…
Now Miss La could only wait patiently for the Millennium Puzzle’s next anomaly, to see if she could figure out what conditions are needed to activate it.
