Chapter 13: Object From The Sky 20
“Sister La, I’m done washing. Let’s head to the ruins.”
Aoxi carried the washed stone pot and spoon back to the tent, but didn’t see the two of them, only a line of words left on the sand.
【Obei and I went to the ruins first. Rest at the camp this morning, and think about what to eat for lunch—Sister La】.
The handwriting was clear and distinct, upright and elegant; presumably, the one who left the message was a tolerant and generous beauty.
“Pa!” The stone pot fell to the ground, and the spoon inside bounced out as well.
“Gua! Sister La, don’t leave me behind QAQ”
After reading the message and realizing she had been left alone, Aoxi found it hard to accept for a moment.
We held a super fun party, guess who wasn’t invited.jpg
“It must be, it must be Obei instigating it, that naturally evil blue-haired brat! Damn it! Sister La~ my Sister La~ wuu wuu wuu wuu~”
Unable to accept the reality, Aoxi began pacing, running, and rolling on the beach without any composure while no one was around…
a few moment later……
After performing a series of undignified actions in public, Aoxi finally accepted the reality of being abandoned, lying on the beach staring at the sky with lifeless eyes like a salted fish.
“Stare~~~~ Hmm? What is that. A bird?”
Aoxi, with her dead-fish eyes, suddenly spotted a blurry figure moving above the clouds. Though obscured by the clouds, making it hard to see clearly, that thing swaying back and forth was clearly a living creature.
At this sight, she immediately perked up again, doing a carp… carp leap to stand up.
“Hehe~ Looks like lunch today is sorted. Watch me make a pot of ‘little wild bird stewed mushrooms’ to outdo that blue-haired dwarf.
You dared to instigate Sister La to leave me here— for lunch, you can gnaw on the bird butt I left behind~”
Wiping the corner of her mouth, Aoxi targeted that black shadow and, when it reached directly above the island, fired a thunder cannon with full power.
She wasn’t worried about blasting it into fragments, since that figure looked fairly large, and Aoxi’s current power was far from being as strong as Sister La’s.
“So at most I’ll just put a hole in you, can’t let you get away…” Aoxi thought, watching the swaying figure in the sky.
……
Kaido, who had been searching the sky for a long time, finally locked onto the target island below, but just as he prepared to descend, he sensed a golden thunderbolt breaking through the clouds straight toward him.
“Uro-ro-ro~ Interesting!”
Choosing not to dodge, Kaido let the thunderbolt strike his body, then dispersed the flame cloud and plummeted downward.
Boom!!!
The sound of a giant creature landing rang out; surrounding trees were flattened in swathes, the earth cratered, and smoke and dust billowed dozens of meters into the high altitude.
Kaido’s massive dragon body crashing from the sky made the small island shake like an earthquake, the huge impact wave spreading instantly and shocking many animals on the island into foaming at the mouth and passing out.
“Guwu~ Seems like I shot down something big. This is trouble.”
Aoxi, who was hugging her head in a defensive squat, was also startled by the shocking scene; the size far beyond expectations left her momentarily at a loss.
Knowing she might have caused trouble, Aoxi didn’t dare move for the moment and just stayed squatting in place, but after waiting a while, the thing still didn’t stir.
『My attack shouldn’t have done much damage to something that big, did I hit the head? It couldn’t have died from the fall, right…』
Just as she mustered the courage to go check what exactly she had shot down, a familiar voice reached her ears.
The usually ethereal and pleasant voice now carried an extra sense of reassurance that made one sink into it.
“Aoxi, are you okay?” Sister La rushed back at nearly her fastest speed.
“I’m fine, Sister La. Um, I think I accidentally shot down a strange thing.”
Seeing Sister La’s figure, Aoxi felt like she had found her backbone.
“Hmph↓ You, always causing trouble for Big Sister.” Obei, who arrived right after, criticized without mercy.
“I was just thinking of adding a dish for lunch… And you two left me here without a word; I was bored too, okay~” Aoxi retorted guiltily.
“Alright, let’s go check it out first. I can feel that dragon is still alive.” Sister La led the two toward the crash site.
“Eh? It really is a dragon? I thought I saw wrong.
By the way, this world actually has dragons~ And from the shape, it’s an eastern dragon. Could it be some fantasy cultivation world?” Aoxi’s curiosity was piqued again.
“If it were really a fantasy world, this dragon wouldn’t have been shot down by you so easily.
In that kind of world, anyone connected to dragons isn’t simple.” Obei promptly poured cold water on it.
“Yeah~ And this dragon looks kinda weird too.
Hmm… How to put it, it feels a bit humanoid. And these horns are wrong; I remember they grow forward…”
Aoxi began critiquing Kaido lying in the distance.
“You’d better hope that dragon isn’t a person transformed, or we’ll be in trouble.”
“Alright, we’re here, just ahead. Everyone be careful.” Sister La reminded the two.
The three arrived about a dozen steps from the dragon’s head.
“Up close, it’s really huge~”
Aoxi took a few steps forward to the dragon’s head, gesturing up and down, discovering her small body was only as big as one of its teeth.
“By the way, Sister La, didn’t you say it’s still alive? Why isn’t it moving, lying there like a dead fish.”
“Aoxi, be careful, don’t get so close!” Sister La stepped forward, pulling Aoxi, who was about to poke it, behind her and warned.
Sister La’s vigilance was correct; in the next second after her words, the giant dragon’s body suddenly glowed and erupted with a strong impact, kicking up smoke and dust around.
Seeing this, Sister La immediately shielded the two little ones behind her and condensed a barrier with divine power in front, her gaze fixed on the center of the light.
Amid the smoke and dust, a massive palm slammed down, causing another earth-shaking tremor.
Then a huge humanoid figure stood up from the deep pit, its form seemingly enveloping the sky and completely covering the three little ones.
“Damn, my head hurts… But I didn’t die~”
The giant figure rubbed his head, then looked down at the three little ones and said:
“Hey! You three brats, that was you attacking me just now, right? You did pretty well! Uro-ro-ro-ro!”
The strange laughter made Aoxi and Obei a bit dizzy-headed.
As the smoke and dust fully cleared, the humanoid creature gradually revealed its true face—a youthful man with a pair of curved giant horns on his head, wearing a sleeveless jacket, shouldering a pitch-black wolf fang club, a lacquered red wine gourd at his waist, his face able to make adults stop crying…
The two little ones gaped, incredulously staring at the two-stories-tall monster before them.
“It really is a person transformed, but he’s too tall!
And was that dragon language just now? Such strong penetration!” Aoxi released her covered ears and said.
“Probably not, it sounded a bit like Japanese to me.” Obei shook her head in response.
“That’s Japanese. Looks like this is most likely the world of some anime.”
Seeing the other party’s clearly inhuman appearance yet speaking fluent Japanese, Sister La had a guess.
“Sister La, you understand Japanese?” Aoxi asked in surprise.
“I don’t, I’m just comparing it to lines from Japanese films and shows I’ve seen before, and I can roughly sense other creatures’ emotions.”
That’s right; Sister La was now using this body’s super memory, treating a series of past Japanese works as a vocabulary database, translating in real-time like holding an electronic dictionary.
“But now it’s a bit troublesome; the other side seems to be asking if it was us who attacked him.”
Sensing the dangerous creature’s intent, Sister La awkwardly replied in Japanese with words of apology:
“It was us, did it, deeply sorry, for this.”
Kaido looked at Sister La speaking halting apologies, frowned impatiently, and interrupted:
“Since you admit you attacked me, now I’ll give you three choices—join me, beat me, or… die here!”
Kaido swung his wolf fang club, smashing a huge crack beside him.
Faced with three little lolis who could barely speak properly, the sea-dominating strongman chose scamming, using the standard industry tactics of intimidation, coercion, and inducement.
Not gentle at all~ this world.
……
PS: In 1491, Kaido was only 27 years old; at this time, he was actually a handsome young man with great charisma. A few years later, before invading Wano Country, Teacher Kai even maxed out his attractiveness, a total charming handsome uncle.
