Chapter 50: Territory Members Rejoice!
“Prince Lei Wen! Lord Ryan requests your presence! He said there’s something important to report!”
Lei Wen was training Thunder Wave by the riverside with Dratini when he suddenly saw a knight in armor running towards him.
“Ryan?” Upon hearing the other party’s words, Lei Wen was slightly taken aback. He signaled Dratini to pause and then asked, “Where is he?”
“At Miss Lila’s place!” the knight replied.
“I understand, I’ll go over now.” Lei Wen nodded.
Lila’s place wasn’t far from him. In just a few minutes, Lei Wen arrived at the small wooden house standing by the riverside.
Pushing the door open, he saw Lila feeding a potion to a small, petite monster.
Standing beside them were Ryan, Pansear, and two other monsters he had never seen before.
Those are… a Sentret, a Pidgey, and an Igglybuff?
“Prince Lei Wen!”
Seeing Lei Wen approach, Ryan’s eyes lit up.
“Who are they?” Lei Wen turned his gaze to the Igglybuff and Pidgey.
Ryan replied, “These three monsters are being taken care of by Pansear. They live together in a cave. This mouse monster had a fever, so I brought it back for Lila to treat.”
So that’s how it is, Lei Wen realized.
Some Pokémon do indeed actively rescue other Pokémon, and sometimes they even adopt abandoned human infants and raise them.
Pansear looked at the Sentret with eyes full of worry.
“Alright, this monster has recovered.” Lila put away the remaining potion in her hand and then turned to the group, saying, “Next, as long as it gets good rest, stays warm, and eats on time, it will be fine.”
Hearing this, Ryan felt a wave of relief wash over him.
He turned to Pansear and said, “Pansear, it’s okay now, you don’t need to worry anymore!”
“Bake~!”
Pansear felt immense gratitude towards Ryan. Even the Pidgey and Igglybuff beside it became considerably closer to him.
Ryan scratched his head and asked with a chuckle, “Pansear, now, are you willing to live with me?”
Looking at the Sentret whose complexion had returned to normal, Pansear didn’t hesitate this time and gave Ryan an affirmative answer.
“Bake!”
He had his own monsters now! Ryan felt an overwhelming surge of joy.
He immediately said impatiently, “Let’s go! I’ll take you to see where we’ll be living from now on!”
At this moment, Ryan suddenly remembered Lei Wen was still nearby.
He quickly turned back and said, “Prince Lei Wen…”
Lei Wen smiled and said, “Go ahead! Take Pansear for a tour of our territory!”
Ryan loudly declared, “Yes!”
Watching Ryan and Pansear leave, Lei Wen casually opened the Territory Panel and, as expected, found that the number of his Pokémon citizens had increased by four.
“If this continues, the Pokémon citizens will soon outnumber the human citizens…” Lei Wen couldn’t help but complain.
However, complaints aside, getting things done was more important now.
With a thought from Lei Wen, the detailed information of that Pansear appeared before him.
【 Pokémon: Pansear 】
【 Type: Fire 】
【 Gender: Female 】
【 Ability: Blaze 】
【 Moves: Leer, Fury Swipes, Overheat, Purify, Yawn, Fire Blast, Flamethrower 】
【 Friendship: 10 】
【 Pokédex Entry: In Kingdom Calendar Year 135, Pansear was born. 】
【 In Kingdom Calendar Year 140, Pansear began living alone. 】
【 In Kingdom Calendar Year 142, Pansear came into contact with a Fire Stone at the bottom of a hot spring and evolved into Pansear. 】
【 In Kingdom Calendar Year 148, Pansear rescued three Pokémon, was moved by Ryan’s sincerity, and decided to join Lei Wen’s territory to live with Ryan. 】
“Huh? This Pansear seems quite strong!” Lei Wen’s gaze swept over the panel before him.
It had even learned powerful Fire Type moves like Fire Blast, Overheat, and Flamethrower.
However, this Pansear was thirteen years old, which was considered young adulthood among its kind. It was normal for it to have learned these moves.
Ryan has finally achieved his wish, Lei Wen mused.
And for the people within the territory, there was now one more reliable Pokémon companion.
*
“The person who just left was Prince Lei Wen, the owner of this territory. He’s the one who proposed the idea of humans and monsters living together,” Ryan explained with a smile. “In short, Prince Lei Wen is a very capable person!”
“Bake~”
“Alright, that house up ahead is my home.”
As he spoke, Ryan stepped forward and opened the door.
Behind him, Pansear, Sentret, Pidgey, and Igglybuff all peered inside with curious expressions.
The interior of the wooden house was not large. As a bachelor, Ryan’s requirements for a house were limited to it being habitable, which resulted in a very minimalist arrangement.
There were almost no decorations, only a bed, a table for eating, and a few small round stools made of wood.
But for Pansear and the others, even so, the environment here far surpassed the cave they had been living in before.
They walked into the house, looking around curiously, examining the room.
Ryan followed them in, closed the door, and placed firewood into the stone fireplace to start a fire. In a short while, the entire room began to warm up.
Pidgey, Sentret, and Igglybuff’s eyes immediately lit up. They gathered around the fireplace, curiously watching the flames within.
Pansear watched this scene from the side, an involuntary smile of happiness appearing on its face.
“Hehe, warm, isn’t it?” Ryan then took out a bag of candy from his backpack and distributed it to the Pokémon. “This is candy I brought from the Royal City. Have a taste!”
Upon tasting the candy, the Pokémon, who had never eaten candy before, were immediately amazed by the flavor.
So delicious!
The atmosphere was lively and heartwarming.
Watching this scene, Ryan suddenly had a premonition.
His life would surely become more exciting with the arrival of these monsters.
However, there was one problem for now.
That was that the candy he brought from the Royal City was almost all gone.
He had promised Pansear earlier that if it was willing to follow him, it could eat this sweet candy every day.
Ryan felt a bit troubled.
It was at this moment that Lei Wen found Ryan.
“Ryan, I hope you can discuss with Pansear and ask it to help fire bricks at the brick kiln using its fire.”
“In return for its work, I will provide you both with more food and candy.”
With four new Pokémon, Ryan, who had no prior experience raising them, might not be able to manage alone for a while.
Therefore, Lei Wen decided to provide him with more food in addition to the basic candy.
Although it still sounded like a bit of exploitation of Pansear… this was the best compensation Lei Wen could currently offer.
Of course, all of this depended on Pansear’s own willingness. If it refused, Lei Wen would naturally not force it.
As for other matters, they would have to wait until the territory was officially developed.
