Chapter 192: Demon of Hell
Xia Mingxuan stared at her numbly, showing no reaction.
Xia Chenge’s heart ached.
If the original owner were standing here now, how desperate would they be!
Damn laboratory.
Xia Chenge spoke extremely slowly, enunciating each word: “My name is Xia Chenge, and my father’s name is also Xia Mingxuan, just like yours.”
“My mother’s name is Cai Xue.”
“But I haven’t seen my parents for over ten years.”
“I only have my grandfather and grandmother left.”
“Have you seen my father?”
Xia Mingxuan, who had been listless, finally showed a flicker of emotion in his eyes.
“They all told me my parents died in a car accident over ten years ago, plunging into the sea with their car.”
“For years, I’ve lived a life without light. My grandfather and grandmother were so devastated that they became paralyzed.”
“They didn’t treat me like a person, calling me a jinx who caused my parents’ death and harmed my grandparents.”
“I prayed every day that one day my father would descend from the heavens to protect me, that I wasn’t unwanted, that I was loved!”
At this point, Xia Mingxuan’s reaction finally became intense.
“Ah…” He opened his mouth, but a mouthful of phlegm blocked it, preventing him from making a sound, and his breathing became rapid again.
Seeing this, Xia Chenge quickly helped him breathe.
He looked at Xia Chenge excitedly, his eyes bursting with intense color, finally showing a trace of life.
“Ah.” He opened his mouth, still only able to utter a single syllable.
“Have you seen him?” Xia Chenge asked deliberately.
Only by igniting his will to live could she have a chance to keep him alive!
“Ah.” This time the sound was louder, and his expression was very anxious, as if he desperately wanted to express something.
“Do you have a daughter too? Then I’ll take you out to see your daughter, okay? I believe your daughter must miss you very much too. Do you know? Children without parents are like forgotten grass by the roadside, living a miserable life.”
The color in his eyes quickly faded, becoming incredibly dim, and his lips moved.
Xia Chenge read his lips as “dangerous.”
“I dared to come in, so I’m confident I can take you out. I’ll put you back first, and then take you away tomorrow, okay?” Xia Chenge said gently, with the only patience she had in her life.
“Ah.” His eyes were no longer seeking death.
Xia Chenge carefully picked him up and placed him back into the glass tube, then infused a large amount of healing power to sustain his life.
As long as he didn’t actively seek death, his chances of survival would be greater!
After dealing with Ling Zhongwen, she would go to Country H.
Xia Chenge walked towards another experimental subject, sensing that Xia Mingxuan’s gaze had never left her from behind.
In that instant, Xia Chenge’s heart felt as if it were being twisted by a knife.
He wasn’t afraid of death, but upon learning that his daughter was not doing well, he was willing to endure pain just to live.
The condition of the other experimental subject was even worse than Xia Mingxuan’s; he was emaciated and unresponsive to the outside world.
Xia Chenge tried calling him twice, but he remained motionless.
She opened the glass tube, intending to pick him up, but as soon as she touched his body, she instantly retracted her hand, looking at him in disbelief.
He could no longer be called human!
His entire skeleton had been replaced with steel, even his skin was artificial. Only his heart remained of his organs; the rest were machines, and even his brain had been implanted with a chip…
A living person had been brutally transformed into a semi-finished robot!
Was this something a human would do?
Xia Chenge was so angry that her heart almost leaped out of her chest.
Glancing back at Xia Mingxuan, Xia Chenge clutched her chest, forcing herself to suppress the rage with great effort.
Dismembering Ling Zhongwen into five pieces and then grinding him into meat paste to feed to dogs wouldn’t be enough to atone for his sins!
He was simply a demon from hell.
This person could no longer be saved; he was only kept alive by machines maintaining his heartbeat, essentially no different from being dead.
Xia Chenge reached out and pressed hard on his chest area, and the heart finally stopped beating.
“Thank you!” Just then, a hoarse voice of thanks echoed in her ear.
She suddenly opened her eyes and saw the person looking at her with his eyes open.
“I’m finally free. Please, you must destroy this anti-human laboratory. Can you please destroy the chip in my brain? Otherwise, my consciousness will still be controlled by them, and they can create another me.”
“Fifteen years. I’m finally out of hell.”
“My name is Ling Hanchao. My younger brother, Ling Hanmu, also fell victim to Ling Zhongwen’s cruelty. Please kill him if you have the chance.”
After saying all this in one breath, he seemed utterly exhausted and let his head droop powerlessly.
As she processed this information, the anger she had finally suppressed surged back, burning through Xia Chenge’s reason.
No wonder the Ling family only had Ling Hanmu in his generation!
It turned out that Ling Hanmu’s siblings had all been killed by their own paternal uncle.
“Were your parents also harmed by Ling Zhongwen?” Xia Chenge asked softly.
In Ling Hanmu’s father’s generation, Ling Zhongwen was the eldest, Ling Zhongjing was the second, and there were two younger brothers and one younger sister. However, those two brothers and the sister died seventeen, fifteen, and fourteen years ago respectively due to serious illness, car accidents, and accidents!
And their children either died of serious illness, were kidnapped and killed, or died in accidents along with their parents…
What seemed like natural disasters and man-made calamities were actually meticulously planned. Who would suspect Ling Zhongwen, who didn’t want to inherit the family business and only wanted to focus on medical development?
Others envied the Ling family’s wealth and power, unaware that behind it lay a bottomless abyss piled high with countless fresh blood and corpses!
After realizing all this, Xia Chenge’s mind was in turmoil.
She didn’t know if anyone else in the Ling family, besides Ling Hanmu, had been tampered with by Ling Zhongwen.
Ling Zhongwen, this inhuman devil, had the blood of his own family on his hands. What else could they possibly not do?
Xia Chenge pressed down on the head of the experimental subject who called himself Ling Hanmu’s brother, closed her eyes, and used her internal force. On the surface, his head appeared intact, but in reality, the inside had been completely shattered into powder.
Ling Hanchao was dead, a look of relief and release on his face.
Xia Chenge’s hands were trembling slightly. This was the first time since becoming an apocalypse warrior that she had killed someone who was not infected by the zombie virus.
“Brother Chao, I won’t let you die in vain!” Xia Chenge promised him.
She then restored Ling Hanchao’s face to its original appearance and closed the glass tube.
She desperately suppressed the killing intent that was screaming to burst out of her body, clenching her fists until her knuckles turned white!
Xia Chenge stood still for a few minutes. After her emotions calmed down, she thoroughly searched the laboratory again, but found nothing new.
She walked up to Xia Mingxuan and said to him, “I need to leave here for a bit, but I’ll be back soon. I promised to take you with me tomorrow, and I will never break my word!”
Worry appeared in Xia Mingxuan’s eyes.
“Don’t worry, Ling Zhongwen can’t hurt me!” Xia Chenge forced herself to put on a smile. “See, I’m standing here fine, aren’t I? I’ll be back!”
With that, Xia Chenge’s figure flashed to the laboratory door, took a minute to open it, and quietly left.
