Chapter 56: Dispose of the Body to the Dogs
“Lose another loved one?” Hearing this, Xia Chenge seemed to become dazed, murmuring to herself.
“Chenge, listen to my advice, don’t keep making mistakes. Your parents’ deaths are not your fault. Please don’t dwell on this matter anymore, okay? Trust me this once, I’ll take you away from here, and you won’t be tormented by nightmares anymore, nor will you lose your mind repeatedly.”
Xia Minglan’s voice was filled with tears. While seemingly advising Xia Chenge, she was actually telling everyone that Xia Chenge was mentally unstable and that all the accidents and tragedies in the Xia family were caused by Xia Chenge, while she was merely an aunt who was unable to stop Xia Chenge despite her best intentions.
Xia Chenge laughed at Xia Minglan’s attempt to twist the situation, making herself out to be a deranged lunatic in just a few words.
“Do you know what my nightmare is?” Xia Chenge looked at her sadly. “My nightmare comes from being locked in a dark, sunless room again and again, only eating spoiled food for three meals a day and starving. Every day, I watched you and your husband verbally abuse and beat Grandfather and Grandmother.”
“If you leave the Xia family, my nightmare will disappear.”
“Chenge, you’re talking nonsense again. Open the door quickly, let’s go see your grandparents together, okay?” Xia Minglan was furious at Xia Chenge’s words, but in front of so many people, she could only suppress her anger.
“You only have an aunt and grandparents, you definitely don’t want to lose us, right?”
“Xiao Ge, don’t keep making mistakes. We won’t blame you for Grandmother’s death. We all know you’re sick.”
Xia Chenge looked at Xia Minglan’s seemingly caring demeanor and couldn’t help but show a hint of mockery.
As the surrounding people sympathized with Xia Minglan, they stared at Xia Chenge with contempt, as if Xia Chenge were an unforgivable villain, pointing fingers at her.
Xia Chenge glanced at the people outside the door. Seeing someone live-streaming this farce, her expression turned solemn, and she was no longer the meek little rabbit from before.
Xia Chenge raised her voice and questioned, “Xia Minglan, is this how a daughter behaves? You keep saying your mother is dead, but did you see her close her eyes? You’re cursing her so viciously!”
“She was just sent to the hospital because her condition flared up. It’s one thing that you’re not visiting her, but you’re causing trouble at her doorstep, shouting for the whole world to know that your mother has passed away! But she’s clearly alive and well, so why are you saying this? What are your intentions?”
“You are all accusing me of killing my grandmother, unaware that I have been taking care of her at the hospital all morning and haven’t had a drop of water. It’s my fault for not taking good enough care of her, but do you have to criticize me so unfairly?”
“And I never said my grandmother had passed away. Xia Minglan, where did you get the information that she’s gone? How much do you wish she was gone?”
“Xia Minglan, as a human being, you are truly unworthy!”
Xia Chenge pointed at Xia Minglan and said angrily, her voice resounding.
The onlookers were stunned by the aura Xia Chenge exuded, trembling with her anger.
Xia Minglan was rendered speechless by Xia Chenge’s questioning and glared at Xia Chenge with a dark complexion.
Xia Chenge spoke coldly again, “Grandmother finally woke up, and I hadn’t even had a chance to say a word to her before the house was turned upside down. If it weren’t for your malicious intentions, Xia Minglan, and your deep desire for Grandmother to pass away, how could this have happened?”
“Children of other families rush to the hospital the moment they hear their parents are in trouble. But what have you done? Even if the whole world condemns me, Xia Chenge, you, Xia Minglan, don’t have the qualification to say a word.”
“Because, the one who abused my grandfather and grandmother was you!”
Upon hearing this, the crowd’s expressions changed drastically, and they all looked at Xia Minglan in disbelief.
“Chenge, I beg you, open the door. Let’s discuss things properly. Don’t get agitated, okay? If something happens to you, how will I explain it to your parents?” Xia Minglan’s demeanor changed, and she became a pleading, helpless figure.
Seeing this, the bystanders recalled the various rumors about Xia Chenge and began to sympathize with Xia Minglan:
“Ms. Xia Minglan, why don’t you call the police?”
“If you continue this stalemate, you’ll only delay precious time.”
“Xia Chenge has truly entered a state of madness. Be careful she doesn’t do anything to harm you.”
…
Xia Minglan shook her head desperately and cried to the onlookers, “Don’t call the police. If you call the police, Xiao Ge will be finished. My brother only has her as a daughter, and I will protect her no matter what. This is our family matter, please don’t interfere!”
“Why are you doing this? For someone who might be involved in murder, there’s no need for sympathy.”
“There’s no need for kindness towards someone with a twisted mind; it’s self-harm.”
“If a serious mistake has already been made, this will only make her worse.”
…
The surrounding people advised Xia Minglan one after another. Xia Minglan pretended to desperately protect Xia Chenge, and the image of the suffering aunt became vivid and grand.
Xia Chenge smiled without speaking. She enjoyed this kind of drama; it was satisfying to slap their faces.
“Xiao Ge, please open the door?” Xia Minglan pleaded with tears streaming down her face.
Xia Chenge curled her lips. “I won’t open the door for you.”
“The good show has begun, let’s wait and see.”
Xia Chenge took a step forward and said in a voice only she and Xia Minglan could hear, “Xia Minglan, is it fun to badmouth me online? Most of Sheng Xia’s shareholders are on your side, right?”
A cold glint flashed in Xia Minglan’s eyes. The pretense was over, and she no longer bothered to hide her intentions from Xia Chenge. “Xia Chenge, if you’re smart, hand over what the old man gave you, and I can consider letting you go abroad. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
“We’ll see. You’ll definitely love the next act,” Xia Chenge’s eyes flashed with a dangerous light. “Do you know what happened to the last person who threatened me? I threw their body to the dogs.”
Xia Minglan recoiled in shock, looking at Xia Chenge in terror.
Xia Chenge said calmly, “Don’t believe me? You can try if you don’t.”
Xia Minglan’s hair stood on end, and she felt a chill run down her spine.
Xia Chenge glanced at the onlookers and smiled slightly. “When watching a show, don’t be too quick to take sides, because the truth is never what you assume!”
Hearing this, everyone stared blankly at Xia Chenge. At this moment, Xia Chenge was like a born king, exuding a powerful queenly aura, and turned to leave.
Xia Minglan gritted her teeth in anger. Every time she thought Xia Chenge was cornered and about to compromise, Xia Chenge would mock her fiercely.
She refused to believe the old undying was still alive! Xia Chenge, no matter who was behind you, you will have to bear the charge of murder!
