Chapter 56: Like Strangers
“There’s a fork?” Ye Qianyu looked at the three diverging intersections in surprise. Han Wuyu glanced at them with a grave expression and walked to the intersection, doing something unknown.
“Let’s go this way.” After observing for a while, Han Wuyu definitively chose the middle path.
“Okay.” Ye Qianyu and Yin Chubei agreed immediately, always trusting their teammate.
The three walked along the path, an endless gravel road. Ye Qianyu and Yin Chubei felt a slight disappointment, but Han Wuyu curved his lips into a wicked smile.
“Speed up.” Han Wuyu said, and his steps clearly quickened. Ye Qianyu and Yin Chubei nodded and followed his pace.
After walking for a long time, they finally saw something different: three doors. From left to right, each door was inscribed with “Life, Death, A Moment’s Thought.”
Han Wuyu glanced at them, a great doubt forming in his heart. Would they lose their lives if they entered the wrong door?
Ye Qianyu and Yin Chubei simultaneously looked at Han Wuyu, awaiting his judgment. Han Wuyu’s cold eyes swept over the middle door. He thought, the less likely door is the more likely one.
“Let’s go in.” Han Wuyu and the other two cautiously pushed open the door and slowly walked inside. The room was very bright. In front of a cabinet, there was a beautiful brocade box.
Han Wuyu’s eyes lit up. It seemed… it was the Heart of the King, no doubt. However, he couldn’t relax his vigilance even a little. If they were caught in a trap, it would all be for nothing.
Ye Qianyu glanced at the hesitant Han Wuyu, knowing this was no simple matter. He also became cautious, but after a long time, he found nothing unusual. Then, footsteps could be heard from outside.
“It’s inside. According to the hint, there should be a brocade box. Just open the box and take the Heart of the King inside. However, after taking it, it’s best to keep the brocade box as well, otherwise, you might be robbed.” Zhang Xingqing’s voice came from outside, filled with excitement and eagerness.
“Are you sure? Is there no danger?” The gang leader of that gang clearly didn’t believe her, looking at Zhang Xingqing with suspicion.
“I guarantee there’s no danger,” Zhang Xingqing said proudly and confidently.
Hearing this, Han Wuyu had already taken the Heart of the King from the brocade box. The Heart of the King was actually… a hairpin. On the hairpin was a crystal heart shape, exceptionally beautiful.
Han Wuyu glanced at the brocade box, took out the Heart of the King, placed the brocade box back in its original position, and then the three of them quietly hid themselves.
Then, as Zhang Xingqing and the others entered, their gaze fell on the brocade box, naturally not noticing anything else. Thus, the three quietly left.
But… Zhang Xingqing thought for a moment and still felt it was best to close the door properly. As she turned, she saw the three people who had just been outside.
She looked at the three in astonishment. “How could you possibly know the correct path?”
Han Wuyu gave her a mocking look, then said calmly, “Do you think we are you?”
Zhang Xingqing was choked by his words, her heart aching from his remark. But at this moment, she still wanted to show off. “We found it first. You’re too late.”
“Even if you went in, you might not have found it. What if we went in after you came out and found it?” Ye Qianyu knew the truth but still went along with Han Wuyu’s plan.
“Im…pos…sible,” Zhang Xingqing said word by word, her eyes incredibly firm.
Yin Chubei saw this and pretended to sigh. “Alas. Forget it. It seems they are confident of victory. What a shame… some people have to resort to unfair means to win.”
