Chapter 120: This Question is Beyond the Scope!
Lian Li’s fingertips instinctively gripped the large hand around her waist. His fingers were strong and warm, and as his kiss deepened, she unconsciously tightened her grip on his hand.
She felt like a fish being roasted over a raging fire, the butcher’s knife in his hand and herself the fish, unable to move.
Jin Shi Yue pushed past her teeth, reaching in to suck and bite her tongue, their lips entwined inextricably.
In the silent carriage, the ambiguous sounds of kissing mingled with wet gasps, igniting a restless desire.
When they parted, Lian Li was breathless, her red lips moist and glistening, her eyes flushed with a touch of rouge. She stared blankly at him for a few seconds before pushing open the car door and getting out without a word.
Not far away, in a low-key car, Ling Yu sat in the driver’s seat, a lollipop in his mouth. He saw Lian Li raise her hand to wipe her lips with the back of it as she strode into the residential building.
Miss Lian was always calm and gentle; seeing her so flustered now, could there be a bomb in the car?
Ling Yu crunched the candy in his mouth, quickly got out of the car, and walked over to check the situation. He only saw his boss holding his mobile phone in one hand, his eyes downcast, messaging someone.
“Brother, did you and Miss Lian have a fight?”
Jin Shi Yue glanced at him expressionlessly, lifting his eyelids. It was the same “Brother,” but called by different people, and the difference was worlds apart.
“When have you ever seen me fight with her?”
“Then are you being scolded unilaterally?” Ling Yu asked.
If Li Ye were present, hearing this, he would want to dig a hole in the ground and shove Ling Yu into it.
Jin Shi Yue gave him a look of disdain. “Hitting is affection, scolding is love. Miss Lian loves me, understand?”
Towards his savior and benefactor, Ling Yu was extremely loyal. “Understood!”
The two stood in silence for a few minutes, one inside the car and one outside. Jin Shi Yue suddenly spoke, “Ling Yu.”
Ling Yu, who was looking up at the floor Lian Li was on, jolted at the sound. “Brother, you say.”
“What do you think the relationship between Lian Li and Jin Yan Ting is?” Jin Shi Yue asked, as if casually.
Ling Yu had been assigned to protect Lian Li for a month. The last time he praised the good relationship between Lian Li and Jin Yan Ting at the boxing gym, he was beaten. Afterward, Li Ye constantly brainwashed him that “Lian Li and Jin Shi Yue have the best relationship in the world.”
Having learned from past experiences and Li Ye’s relentless efforts, Ling Yu had become smarter. “Normal!”
Jin Shi Yue raised an eyebrow. “How is it normal?”
Ling Yu stammered, “Th-this this…”
This question was beyond the scope of his knowledge; Li Ye hadn’t taught him this!
Li Ye and Tao Su, with their top-tier abilities in all aspects, were chosen by Jin Shi Yue. Ling Yu’s ability to stay by Jin Shi Yue’s side was purely due to good fortune, as any special police officer from the Jin Family would have a higher emotional intelligence than him.
After struggling for a while and unable to come up with an answer, Ling Yu turned and said, “Brother, may I ask you a presumptuous question?”
Jin Shi Yue idly spun his phone in his hand. “What question?”
Ling Yu scratched his head, lowering his head like a big dog, and asked softly, “Do you like Miss Lian?”
Jin Shi Yue let out a scoff. “This is no longer presumptuous, it’s an offense.”
Ling Yu choked, but the words were already out. He hoped his boss wouldn’t tell him to bite off his tongue.
He braced himself and continued, “You’ve given me protection missions before, but you’ve never asked me to protect a girl.”
Ling Yu was not good at communication, but his execution was extremely strong; he could handle the work of three bodyguards alone.
Jin Shi Yue’s fingertip slid across his phone, opening WeChat. There was still no activity. He typed another message and sent it, then glanced at Ling Yu. “What, I’m not worthy of liking her?”
When Lian Li received Jin Shi Yue’s second message, she was standing in front of the refrigerator. She glanced down at the WeChat notification that popped up on her phone, then pressed the side button without looking, turning off the screen.
Lian Li opened the refrigerator, intending to get a bottle of milk, but found it filled with fresh milk. It was luxurious New Zealand milk, top-tier, likely just air-freighted.
The source of the milk was self-evident.
Lian Li took a bottle, poured it into a heatable cup, and warmed it in the microwave. After drinking it, she stretched her arms and rotated her neck before walking into the bedroom.
The exterior layout showed no trace of Jin Shi Yue’s presence, but his handiwork was evident everywhere inside the room.
The French crystal lamp was bright and clear, illuminating the room. A handmade Persian carpet covered the entire floor. A doucai enameled vase with intertwined lotus patterns, worth eight figures, held vibrant, dewy fresh flowers – Floyd roses, with the same scent as her bedding.
A black lacquer dressing table inlaid with gold mother-of-pearl, and a set of gold jewelry boxes meticulously crafted by a master craftsman. The open boxes revealed a twisted silk jade bracelet, gemstone hairpins… The antique jewelry was visibly luxurious. The entire room was transformed, from the bed to the walls, changing in a single day.
A royal princess’s chamber might not even be as exquisite and beautiful as her room. Lian Li had thought Jin Shi Yue would just move his things in, never expecting this.
Lian Li wasn’t angry that Jin Shi Yue had taken it upon himself to renovate her room, because he had stayed within her acceptable limits. If he had changed the living room too, she would have been 100% angry.
Looking at the unfamiliar bedroom, Lian Li’s mood underwent seventy-two changes in a single second, extremely complex.
There was happiness, as she had indeed fantasized about having such a magnificent princess room as a child; and there was rejection, as she disliked drastic changes, even though the moment she got together with Jin Shi Yue, her life was destined for significant alterations.
The bathroom was brand new. Lian Li felt quite unaccustomed while showering. After coming out of the bathroom, it was time for bed, but she tossed and turned on the bed.
Lian Li had never had an intimate relationship with anyone since she was young.
Her father, Lian Jingcheng, was already working hard, so she rarely confided in him. Later, she met Jin Yan Ting, and after many years together, Lian Li was mostly cautious around him.
Lian Li only confided in Xue Shufan, but that was the beautiful camaraderie between girls; it was different with men.
The Eldest Young Master was pampered and delicate, needing to be held in the palm of one’s hand. She couldn’t sensitively perceive his every emotion, nor could she always put him first.
Lian Li had ideals and her own convictions. Perhaps Jin Shi Yue didn’t know, but agreeing to be with him was already the biggest choice she could make.
Restless.
Lian Li couldn’t sleep, so she got up to watch dramas. The terrifying ghosts in the horror movie formed a stark contrast with the princess room.
After watching for a while, Lian Li picked up her phone, opened WeChat, and tapped into the chat page with Jin Shi Yue.
Eldest Young Master: 「Ran away after kissing? Come back.」
Eldest Young Master: 「Little hedgehog, you pricked me, and I hadn’t even dodged yet, why did you run?」
Lian Li truly detested Jin Shi Yue. This man always trampled on her sensitive nerves. Since he knew that if it were another man, not him, she wouldn’t have agreed to take responsibility, let alone have a relationship, why did he have to expose it?
Lian Li buried her face in the pillow in annoyance. The scent of Floyd roses mingled with a different aroma – Jin Shi Yue’s cold fragrance, very faint but extremely present.
Lian Li lay on the bed, her chin sinking into the pillow. After a moment of hesitation, she slowly, like a snail, typed word by word.
Patiently explaining the misunderstanding was a difficult task for her, especially since this was clearly Jin Shi Yue’s own overthinking. She and Jin Yan Ting were standing and sitting, their conversation distance well within the safe zone, with no improper behavior.
Lian Li wrote essays faster and more fluently than editing messages. She deleted and rewrote for a long time, finally deciding that she couldn’t be the only one losing sleep in the middle of the night; she had to wake Jin Shi Yue up too.
Thus, for the first time, she proactively called him.
The call was answered quickly, but Lian Li suddenly fell silent.
Some words, no matter how many times rehearsed in one’s heart, are difficult to utter.
She could give a speech to tens of thousands of people at school without a hitch; wasn’t it just stating facts? She could do it!
“Jin Shi Yue, I…”
Before Lian Li could finish speaking, she heard a voice from the other end say, “Did you lock yourself in?”
Lian Li had too many self-protective habits, such as locking the door immediately upon entering a room, making it impossible to open even with a password and key.
She responded with an “Mm.”
Jin Shi Yue casually knocked twice on the door with his knuckles, the ‘dong dong’ sounds reaching Lian Li’s ears.
He said, “You won’t let me in after I say a couple of things? Come over and open the door for me.”
