Chapter 195: Would You Stay for Me
Ye Chuxiao came out of the kitchen with a bowl of congee and sat on the edge of the sofa.
Lin Chusheng started to get up, and Ye Chuxiao said, “Brother Chusheng, you should lean back. You said you’re my big toy for playing house, and I’ll feed you.”
“Okay.” Lin Chusheng leaned back against the sofa armrest. Although he was playing the role of a weak person, he let the little girl have her way and ate the congee she spooned to his lips, bite by bite.
For the first few bites, his straight, handsome eyebrows furrowed. The plain congee was bland and tasteless, and he had no appetite, making it somewhat difficult to swallow.
This was Xiaoxiao’s kind gesture. Lin Chusheng endured his discomfort and ate a few bites, only to discover that the soft, glutinous clear congee had a faint sweetness that moistened his dry throat and warmed his aching stomach.
Slowly, he felt comfortable all over, breaking out in a fine sweat. He felt refreshed and much more energetic.
Was one bowl of plain congee so little? Seeing the bottom of the bowl, Lin Chusheng sat up slightly, his gaze still fixed.
“You’re just like a pet puppy begging for food,” Ye Chuxiao chuckled and said, “There’s still congee. Do you want more, Brother Chusheng?”
“Yes.” Lin Chusheng also smiled, looking at Ye Chuxiao’s curved eyebrows. The little pink bun from before had grown so beautiful!
After another bowl of congee, Ye Chuxiao still fed him. Lin Chusheng suddenly understood that the most delicious food in the world doesn’t depend on which chef made it, what ingredients were used, or what cuisine it was cooked in.
It only depends on who is eating it with you!
Lin Chusheng felt a little better, and his mood became peaceful.
Ye Chuxiao went to the kitchen to wash the bowls and chopsticks, then returned to get water for Lin Chusheng to take his medicine.
The cold medicine had some side effects, and Lin Chusheng felt drowsy. Ye Chuxiao told him to go back to his room to sleep.
“Xiaoxiao,” Lin Chusheng, lying down, looked at Ye Chuxiao who was taking care of him by the bedside, and acted spoiled, “Your big cloth bear for playing house wants to hear a story.”
“Okay,” Ye Chuxiao sat on the edge of the bed, tilting her small head slightly, and asked, “What story does the big cloth bear want to hear?”
Lin Chusheng’s lips curved into a faint smile. “I want to hear the story of the little white rabbit and her Brother Chusheng.”
Ye Chuxiao also smiled. “That will take a long time. We have to start from a long, long time ago!”
Lin Chusheng looked at her bright and innocent eyes. Her smile, in the night, was as radiant as the morning light.
He suddenly hoped that this long story wouldn’t be about the past to the present, but from the present to the future.
In Ye Chuxiao’s soft, sweet voice, Lin Chusheng didn’t know when he fell asleep.
That night, he had a very, very long dream. In the dream, there were no worries or troubles, only a little girl made of jade and a lively, mischievous little boy running and laughing carefree.
But when morning came, it was as if brilliant light shone into the dream. The little girl instantly grew up and ran and ran towards where the light was shining. She disappeared.
The little boy chased with all his might but could never catch up.
“Xiaoxiao—” he cried out in panic, but he could no longer see her.
The little boy was left alone in the dream.
“Xiaoxiao…” Lin Chusheng murmured, and after a long while, he slowly woke up.
He was covered in a cold sweat, lying limply on the bed.
Outside the window, the rain had stopped, and a faint white light filtered through the sheer curtain.
The house was quiet. Lin Chusheng didn’t want to move at all. He disliked this kind of quiet, especially after having such a dream.
Xiaoxiao must have left? But he still remembered her busy figure in his house last night, her figure taking care of him, her figure cheering him up…
