Chapter 17: Underground cave
“I never thought I’d be able to eat rice again in this lifetime. I definitely won’t be a picky eater from now on!”
Sang Chu arrived just in time to hear her say, “Then you’d better remember your words. All these things were earned by me through desperate effort, it wasn’t easy!”
“Mhm, mhm, mhm!!”
Mu Xue’s mouth was stuffed full. When Sang Chu arrived, Lu Min Feng also brought out the food he had saved for her, “I thought you’d need to rest a bit longer, so I saved these for you.”
“Thank you!”
Neither she nor Lin Mu Xue knew how to cook. Before the Apocalypse, they ate takeout, and after the Apocalypse, they ate whatever they could find.
Sang Chu: “Your cooking is great, Chef Lu!”
Mu Xue, while eating, nodded in agreement with Sang Chu’s words and even took the time to give a thumbs up, saying, “It’s very good!”
After eating their fill, the three of them got out of the hovercar.
As Sang Chu was about to help them put the hovercar into the optical computer, Lu Min Feng said he had already done it himself.
Mu Xue looked at Lu Min Feng in surprise, “You figured it out yourself?”
Seeing her like this, Lu Min Feng couldn’t help but laugh, “Yeah, I was curious, and since I couldn’t sleep, I tried to figure it out myself.”
Mu Xue pouted her red lips in dissatisfaction and mumbled, “Fine, I was the only one who just slept through it.”
The three of them relied on the light emitted by the optical computer and followed the map to a stone wall.
Mu Xue touched the stone wall and frowned slightly, “The map shows an entrance, but it doesn’t look like there’s an entrance at all?”
Sang Chu took out a blue gun and said, “You two step back.”
The two stepped back, and Sang Chu shot at the stone wall. Before long, a hole was cut into the stone wall.
Mu Xue was dumbfounded, “Whoa, I’ve only seen this effect in movies!”
Lu Min Feng: “Me too.”
Sang Chu: “Each laser gun I gave you has a different effect. This blue gun has very stable attack power, and it’s the best choice for excavating caves. Let’s go down first, everyone be careful.”
Looking down into the hole, it was pitch black.
Sang Chu led the way, with Lu Min Feng covering the rear.
The optical computer was in high-light mode. Although it consumed a lot of light energy, the danger level in the Apocalypse was higher than usual. No one knew what was inside, so high-light mode would be safer.
The winding mountain path led downwards. Sang Chu took each step with extreme caution, afraid of making any mistakes.
Suddenly, Sang Chu stopped.
Mu Xue: “Sang Sang, what’s wrong?”
Lu Min Feng: “Why did you stop?”
“You two be careful and come up to see!”
The two cautiously walked forward and then discovered that in front of them was a vertical shaft, dark and mysterious as far as the eye could see.
Mu Xue felt a chill looking at the vertical shaft, “What do we do? Should we go down?”
Lu Min Feng opened the map. The red dot had not moved, so this was likely the place they were looking for, but the depths below were unknown.
He looked at Sang Chu, who, after a series of operations, released the hovercar and adjusted its appearance and size to match the vertical shaft.
“Let’s take the car down. No matter how the exterior changes, the interior space remains the same.”
Mu Xue’s eyes lit up, “Wow, there’s such a trick! Then what’s there to be afraid of? Let’s go, let’s go down quickly! I’ve never seen an undeveloped cave before!”
She had visited developed caves before the Apocalypse, and they were very beautiful. But she heard that undeveloped ones had many unknown risks. Since they had a cheat artifact like a hovercar, what was there to fear!
The three of them got into the car. After giving the command, they stood inside the transparent hovercar and watched the scenery outside.
The hovercar was in low-light mode, only barely allowing them to see.
The vertical shaft was very, very deep. After descending about two hundred meters, it began to narrow.
Little A: “Master, detecting a narrow crevice ahead, very dangerous. Do you wish to activate safety mode?”
Sang Chu looked at the crevice in front of her, “Activate.”
Little A: “Yes, closing perspective mode and entering safety mode.”
Tu You, who had been flying gracefully, instantly tensed up and jumped onto Sang Chu’s shoulder.
‘Thump thump thump—’
A strange sound came, as if something was frantically smashing against the hovercar, causing the vehicle to become unstable. Sang Chu and the other two were thrown about.
Fortunately, the safety measures inside the hovercar were very good.
With safety mode activated, there were airbags everywhere, so even if they fell, they wouldn’t get hurt.
The three of them quickly sat down in their chairs.
After an unknown amount of time, Little A’s voice finally came through, “Danger cleared. Danger mode has been deactivated. Activating transparent mode.”
The airbags slowly disappeared, and the hovercar’s exterior gradually became transparent. Only then did the three of them see the scenery outside. It was as if they had entered another world.
The vertical shaft had disappeared.
The cave interior was now completely transparent, exquisite and unique, like jade towers and silver flowers, making one feel as if they were in an ice and snow world.
The path they had come from was no longer visible to the naked eye. Looking up, they could only see a tiny crevice on the exquisitely transparent crystal.
Mu Xue: “My heavens, how did the hovercar get down through such a small crevice?”
Lu Min Feng, however, saw that the hovercar had consumed more than half of its light energy, which made him frown:
“A Chu, more than half of the light energy is gone.”
Sang Chu looked at the indicator light. Indeed, it was close to the orange light. She quickly arranged for the light source, but even so, the light energy couldn’t be fully replenished immediately.
“This place is more dangerous than I imagined.”
She had used the hovercar for a month in the Monster Transformation World and flown without seeing the orange light. Before she returned, the light energy was full, but just descending a vertical shaft had consumed more than half of the energy, which made her feel a bit scared.
Just as the two were agonizing over what to do next, Mu Xue exclaimed, “Wow! It’s so beautiful!”
She ran forward while exclaiming. Sang Chu and Lu Min Feng snapped back to attention, exchanged a look, and quickly followed, but they too were stunned!
Tu You, flapping its large ears, flew beside Mu Xue, looking at the magnificent, colorful underground terraced fields, dumbfounded.
Tu You: “A Chu, this place is so beautiful!”
Mu Xue: “Yes, it’s so pretty!”
Tu You and Mu Xue didn’t realize they were talking to each other until Mu Xue came to her senses and realized the voice she heard was wrong.
“Huh? Huh!?”
“What kind of thing are you!!!”
Mu Xue turned around and saw a flying little white rabbit, thinking it was a monster. She was so scared that she retreated repeatedly. Lu Min Feng and Sang Chu quickly stepped forward to support her, preventing her from falling.
Tu You: “You’re the thing! I’m A Chu’s little elf, my name is Tu You!”
He flew to Sang Chu’s shoulder, his excitement from seeing the beautiful scenery completely gone.
Mu Xue looked at the cute little rabbit and, from behind Lu Min Feng, extended a finger to poke Tu You, who was squatting on Sang Chu’s shoulder, “You’re a rabbit!”
“I’m a little elf!!!”
