Chapter 13: Meeting The Producer
Ji Ziyao raised an eyebrow.
Has his younger sister changed her personality? She knows how to flatter now?
But this flattery is really quite trendy.
Others flatter by praising good looks, but she praises his facial features?
But to be fair, this flattery works pretty well on Ji Ziyao.
Ji Ziyao felt a bit pleased inside, but said, “As expected of a top student. Putting knowledge into practice, the wise adapt to the times, right? Don’t worry, you’re my younger sister. Even without flattering me, I won’t mistreat you.”
Xuan Xia frowned slightly. “I’m not flattering you. Your facial features show that your career luck will rise in the next year, and it will be good for the next few years.”
This was something she learned from Great Grandfather’s notebook on the way to Yanjing. Xuan Xia thought she had memorized most of it correctly and wouldn’t misinterpret.
Ji Ziyao was first stunned by her professional demeanor, then couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing the next second.
“My good younger sister, you’re really something.” As he spoke, Ji Ziyao gave her a thumbs up.
Xuan Xia looked at his expression and didn’t think he was praising her.
Sure enough, Ji Ziyao said, “You really are… After all that, you’re just indirectly praising yourself.”
Ji Ziyao thought Xuan Xia was hinting that his future career luck would rise only after signing her. Wasn’t that indirectly praising herself as a lucky star who would boost his career?
“I’m not.”
But on second thought, maybe it really was.
Xuan Xia stopped talking.
Seeing her silent, Ji Ziyao thought the opportunity was rare and teased her again. “Younger sister really studied fortune telling, huh? Then give brother another reading. Anything else good?”
Xuan Xia pursed her lips and slanted him a look, correcting, “This isn’t fortune telling, it’s physiognomy.”
She even had a whole spiel. Ji Ziyao found it endlessly amusing.
“Alright, alright. Then tell me, how accurate is this? How long have you studied it?”
Xuan Xia’s face flushed slightly, and she primly said a few words: “Just a beginner.”
She couldn’t exactly say she learned it on the way here.
Ji Ziyao naturally couldn’t imagine how long her “beginner” was and wanted to keep teasing her, but his mobile phone vibrated in his hand. Ji Ziyao instinctively looked down.
After a few seconds, Ji Ziyao looked up again, put away his previous playfulness, and said, “No need for next Tuesday. I’ll take you to meet the producer now.”

Xuan Xia couldn’t help but look down carefully at her outfit. “Is this okay?”

Ji Ziyao told Xuan Xia to call her that when they met.
Chu Yan was a rising star in variety shows. She was originally a manager at an entertainment company, then switched to become a platform producer. In five years in the industry, she had planned and produced five variety shows.
Though one per year, each had a great response. Someone went viral from her programs every year. Plus, with her background, she didn’t worry about program sponsorships, and more people naturally supported her.
This year, Chu Yan planned to produce a celebrity dating show program. After companies got the news, they all scrambled to get on it.
Ji Ziyao could secure this resource because he knew Chu Yan early and built the relationship ahead of others.
But if he delayed deciding on someone and really held up the program recording, Chu Yan probably wouldn’t include him anymore.
Now Chu Yan already had some complaints. Fortunately, the main target was Zhou Shiqing, which let Ji Ziyao scrape by until now.
Originally, Ji Ziyao planned to take Xuan Xia to the platform company to find Chu Yan next Tuesday. Unexpectedly, Chu Yan was also in Yanjing today. After learning he had confirmed the female artist for the program, she simply told him to bring her now to meet. If no issues, finalize directly and proceed.
Since Chu Yan said that, how could Ji Ziyao refuse? After asking Chu Yan’s location and getting the positioning she sent, he immediately took Xuan Xia straight to the restaurant.
On the way, Ji Ziyao repeatedly instructed: “Sister Yan doesn’t like pretentious vixens. So act humble and low-key. Less talk, less mistakes, okay?”
Xuan Xia nodded.

“You can just be a vase.”

How to be a vase? Xuan Xia felt she needed to find the feeling.
In less than half an hour, Ji Ziyao brought Xuan Xia to the restaurant where Chu Yan was.
When pushing open the private room door, Ji Ziyao had already switched to a smiling face and called out loudly: “Sister Yan—”
The trailing tone hadn’t ended when it almost cracked, and the smile on his face stiffened.
Xuan Xia couldn’t see his expression, only heard him mutter “damn” under his breath.
“?”
Xuan Xia turned her head, her line of sight going past Ji Ziyao into the private room.
There were only three people inside the private room.
Two young men, and Chu Yan.
Xuan Xia had already searched about Chu Yan on the way, so she immediately recognized the only woman in the room as definitely Chu Yan.
But the two men sitting on either side of Chu Yan, Xuan Xia also felt were familiar, but only familiar.
Until Ji Ziyao called out their names.
“So today Sister Yan has plans with Teacher Zhuang Yu and Teacher Zhou Shiqing. I’m truly lucky thanks to Sister Yan.”
Xuan Xia then recognized that the one sitting on Chu Yan’s left, with dyed white hair and a roguish expression, was Zhou Shiqing.
No wonder he seemed familiar but she hadn’t recognized him. This person had changed his hairstyle, and with no makeup, he differed from online photos.
As for the one on the right, he was the lead singer and leader of Cruel Summer, Zhuang Yu.
Compared to Zhou Shiqing’s rebellious vibe, Zhuang Yu clearly knew how to behave. After Ji Ziyao entered, he specially stood up to greet, with a very modest attitude.
Besides him, Chu Yan and Zhou Shiqing stayed seated without moving.
“You, a senior agent, still need to thank someone? Bullying people, huh?” Chu Yan smiled sideways at Ji Ziyao, then her line of sight turned to Xuan Xia the next second.
Ji Ziyao got the hint, quipped a line, then quickly introduced Xuan Xia to the three present.
Xuan Xia greeted them one by one following Ji Ziyao’s introduction.
Sister Yan for Chu Yan, and Teacher for the other two.
Teacher Zhuang, Teacher Zhou.
Anyway, in this circle, regardless of status, everyone was called Teacher.
Besides, for Xuan Xia, these two really deserved the title “Teacher.”
“What a rare beautiful girl, too beautiful.” Chu Yan didn’t stint on praising Xuan Xia’s beauty.

However, she thought she performed well, yet still drew criticism.

One obvious sarcasm drew everyone’s line of sight to the rebellious Zhou Shiqing.
