Chapter 28: Shocking Scandal
But Xuan Xia’s expression didn’t change; even the look in her eyes when she gazed at him had already taken on impatience.
If it were the her from before, she might have followed the guidance in Qin Yi’s words and gone along with his train of thought.
But now, she knew his background, knew the scheming depths of the powerful young heir hiding behind his student identity, scheming for family property and great power.
She even knew, with his methods, what difficulty was there in investigating Li Xinze? Did he really think she had no brains!
She wouldn’t fall for it!
Not only would she not fall for it, she even wanted to politely ask him to stay eight hundred meters away.
However, Xuan Xia’s reaction in Qin Yi’s eyes was… she was confused!
Qin Yi was almost certain that Xuan Xia’s change was definitely inseparable from Li Xinze; that person had bewitched Xuan Xia.
He wanted to lay it all out, but out of various considerations, he held back.
He only said ambiguously, “Stay away from him. You shouldn’t have any dealings with him.”
Xuan Xia had originally wanted to leave, but upon hearing this, she stopped. She wanted to hear what nonsense he was spouting.
“Elaborate.”
Qin Yi put on a troubled expression again, but because Xuan Xia was staring at him with a look that said if you don’t explain yourself clearly, don’t try to tell me what to do, he could only give a vague explanation.
“Just remember, he’s approaching you because of me. No matter what he says to you or what favors he offers, don’t naively believe him!”
Xuan Xia: “…”
“So, he likes you?” Xuan Xia asked him.
How did she not know Qin Yi had male suitors?
Qin Yi: “…” He was stumped.
“No!” As Qin Yi denied it, his face darkened significantly.
Xuan Xia tilted her head, waiting for what came next.
Qin Yi was in complete torment. He couldn’t tell her the truth, yet he had no words to gloss over it, so he could only stare her down, hoping she would understand his intentions and heed his advice.
After a brief standoff, Xuan Xia took a deep breath.
Qin Yi thought it had worked, but then he heard her say, “No one would approach me because of you, okay? What does that have to do with me, Qin Yi? You sure have some nerve.”
Qin Yi was stunned on the spot.
Since she’d already spoken, Xuan Xia decided to just clear things up completely, to avoid these strange and speechless scenes repeating in the future.
She still had so many things to do, so many worries unsolved.
“You already know I’ve been avoiding you, so you should understand that I really don’t want to see you.”
“Whatever I did before that gave you the wrong idea, I apologize first, and I hope you can forget it all quickly. We all have bright futures ahead, okay?”
Qin Yi was speechless, staring at Xuan Xia in a daze.
His gaze moved from her fine eyebrows to her pink lips, then into her brilliant eyes, and he was shocked to discover that she meant every word she said.
But he couldn’t process it.
How could she just…
Xuan Xia “ah”ed, then added, “The Li Xinze you mentioned, I know who he is, a bodyguard. Who is the person he serves to you?”
Qin Yi was still in shock and, without much thought, blurted out subconsciously, “My little uncle.”
Xuan Xia: “…” Holy crap.
Xuan Xia had suddenly thought that Daoist Master Qin and Qin Yi shared the same surname, and with Qin Yi spouting all that nonsense hinting at her, she casually probed, but unexpectedly fished out a huge bombshell.
Daoist Master Qin was actually his little uncle?!
Xuan Xia quickly recalled the information about Qin Yi’s ancestry for three generations that she knew from her dream, but information about Qin Yi’s little uncle was scant.
Just like how she still didn’t know Daoist Master Qin’s exact name to this day, she hadn’t learned Qin Yi’s little uncle’s name from the dream either.
The only thing she knew was that Qin Yi had grudges against all the elders in his family. His little uncle was also one of those obstructing his rise to power.
And, his little uncle apparently hadn’t obstructed him for long, because his little uncle had his household registration canceled very early on.
“…”
Holy crap, holy crap.
Qin Yi realized what he’d said and immediately frowned in annoyance.
But he also felt that since he’d already told her, the rest would be easier to say.
“You…” his voice was slightly hoarse, “stay away from him. What I just told you was for your own good. I want to protect you.”
This time, without waiting for Xuan Xia to say anything, he turned first.
Qin Yi felt he needed time to digest her earlier words and figure out if her intentions were real.
Protect?
Xuan Xia gazed darkly at his retreating back. He dared to say such a thing.
But after withdrawing her gaze, she had one more worry on her mind.
How could Daoist Master Qin and Qin Yi be from the same Qin family?

Xuan Xia returned to the dormitory in frustration.
The bombshell was too big; she’d walked back slowly and still hadn’t fully processed it.
In the dormitory, her roommates were chatting excitedly. Seeing her come in with an off mood, they immediately dropped the topic and all crowded around her.
“Xia Xia, what’s wrong?”
“Weren’t you all happy when you left this morning? How come you came back with that expression?”
“Yeah, Xia Xia, what’s up? Is there something you want to talk to us about?”
Xuan Xia pulled out a chair, sat down at her desk, and frustratedly propped her forehead with her hand.
“There is something I want to tell you all.”
Roommates: “What is it?”
“I’m going to record a variety show next week.”
Roommates: ???
Record what???
“What the heck?”
Xuan Xia thought that the dating show would announce the guest list next week, so if she didn’t tell her roommates now, they’d be mad later.
So she said truthfully, “I’m going to record a variety show program, a dating show.”
As for other matters and other people, she’d set them aside for now.
“Ah?” The three roommates said in unison.
“You’re joining a dating show? When did you sign up?” Yan Xiaowen asked.
There had been dating show programs with amateur modes before, so Yan Xiaowen’s first reaction was that she’d joined an amateur dating show.
The other two thought the same.
Xuan Xia knew this, so she said, “What if it was my agent who took it for me?”
Three: ???
What agent?!
“I signed with a management company. This dating show is my debut work,” Xuan Xia said.
Three: !!!
The next second, the dormitory erupted in screams.
The screams were earth-shattering, causing other occupied dorms in the hallway to open their doors and poke heads out to check.
“What’s going on?”
“Who’s going crazy! They’re nuts!”
“Screaming like a pig being slaughtered. I’m complaining to the dorm supervisor!!”
Yan Xiaowen and the others quickly hushed, and the three tightly surrounded Xuan Xia.
“Xia Xia, you’re not messing with me, right? Am I about to have a celebrity roommate?” Yan Xiaowen had Xuan Xia pinch her face to check if this was real.
“Will chasing stars be easier from now on? Can I get Song Yufeng’s signed photo?” Sun Hui started daydreaming.
“I’m different from Huihui.” The last roommate, Zeng Hongxia, sat next to Xuan Xia and said, “I just want to carry bags for you, Xia Xia.”
Xuan Xia laughed helplessly, “Jiang University top students carrying my bags? Come on, have some ambition, please?”
“Ambition is no match for free meals.” Yan Xiaowen also crowded in. “Xia Xia, look at me. I don’t want to work hard anymore.”
“Me too.”
The three all pressed against Xuan Xia.
Xuan Xia: “…” Helpless, but her mood improved a bit.
