Chapter 29: Drama Shows Up At The Taoist Temple
After Yan Xiaowen and the others went crazy for a while, she started pestering Xuan Xia with a bunch of questions.
Some were about signing with a management company, others about the dating show.
No matter which one, they all found them novel.
After listening to a stack of questions, Xuan Xia said: “How about we pick a place to eat and chat? I haven’t had dinner yet.”
“You still want to eat dinner? Female stars can only drink dew at night!” Yan Xiaowen teased her.
“…” Listen to this, is this even human talk?
The other two also sided with Yan Xiaowen.
“You won’t even give me the opportunity to treat you to a big meal?” Xuan Xia put on a pitiful look.
The three said in unison: “No eating!”
Yan Xiaowen said: “We’ve already had dinner, we don’t have the stomach for your big meal, you owe it for now.”
After a pause, she added: “We’ll eat after the final exam. No time to celebrate for you these two days, gotta go to the library tomorrow to grab seats.” They had to get up early, or there might be no spots left.
Whenever Yan Xiaowen got enthusiastic about going to the library to reserve seats, it meant exam time was approaching.
Xuan Xia realized and calculated that the week after next was exam week.
“Then I’ll go to the library with you tomorrow too.” Xuan Xia said.
Her roommates all gave her looks of strong disdain.
They went to the library to study because she risked failing exams, but did a top student like her? No!
A top student like her going to the library—what else could she do but compete with them?
Disdain was disdain, but the next day, they still brought Xuan Xia along.
Luckily, Xuan Xia really had no intention of competing with them; she came to the library to study too.
It was just that she was studying how to post recruitment information.
After learning that Daoist Master Qin was actually Qin Yi’s little uncle, she had digested it for a long time last night. She originally thought same surname meant two different family lines, but it turned out you couldn’t write two Qin characters with one stroke.
She didn’t want to delve into why Qin Yi’s little uncle became a Daoist priest, and so coincidentally took her great grandfather as his master. She just needed to recruit a temple master quickly and send the man away.
She no longer coveted Daoist Master Qin’s ability to make money.
Xuan Xia wanted to do it quickly, but recruiting a temple master was nothing like other job positions.
Recruitment information for it was pitifully scarce to begin with.
Xuan Xia searched recruitment websites for a long time, even went on professional Daoist websites, before posting the recruitment information.
It even made the top student break a sweat.
The recruitment information had been posted for less than five minutes when her silenced mobile phone suddenly lit up the screen, showing a new message received.
“This fast?” Xuan Xia muttered as she opened the message.
Wrong guess, it was Lawyer Fang messaging her.
Xuan Xia took one look at the message content and was dumbfounded.
‘Lawyer Fang: Bad news, Miss Xuan, your parents have come making trouble at the temple.’
Below it was a video.
Xuan Xia immediately found her earphones and put them on.
The video was over a minute long; as soon as it started, Mu Hailu was ranting away.
“This is our Xuan family matter, who are you, an outsider, to butt in?”
“How we handle the Xuan family property is up to us. As for you, we don’t need you anymore, pack your luggage and leave quickly.”
Along with Mu Hailu’s words, also appearing in the scene were Xuan Jixing, and Daoist Master Qin, who was the target of Mu Hailu’s words.
Daoist Master Qin in the video showed no emotion, but Xuan Xia was already burning with nameless anger.
She wasn’t dead yet—how could her things be up to the two of them?
The couple said a few more words chasing Daoist Master Qin away, then the oldest Uncle Zhong stepped forward and said a couple things, but the couple’s attitude didn’t soften at all.
Their words implied they feared Daoist Master Qin was dead set on staying inside the temple to get a share.
As for what share, it was probably that the two were still thinking of selling off the Daoist temple’s property rights.
A few seconds later, Xuan Jixing turned and started chasing away the tourists inside the temple who were watching the spectacle.
“Go go go, no business operations today, all get out.”
The video ended there.
Xuan Xia was so choked she couldn’t catch her breath for a while.
She wasn’t surprised at all that the couple would run straight to the Daoist temple for this stunt.
But from this, it was clear the couple had no regard for her at all.
Since that was the case, she didn’t need to show mercy either.
She directly replied to Lawyer Fang with three words: “Call the police.”
After sending the message, she signaled to her roommates that she was stepping out to make a call.
Out of the library, just as she was about to find a quiet corner, the mobile phone screen lit up again.
‘Lawyer Fang: Handled.’
Handled this fast? Did they call the police?
Xuan Xia quickly found a suitable corner and called Lawyer Fang.
Lawyer Fang answered and eagerly informed her first: “Miss Xuan, no need to worry, it’s been resolved here.”
“Did you call the police?” Xuan Xia asked.
“Not exactly.” Lawyer Fang said.
Before Xuan Xia could follow up, Lawyer Fang’s next sentence explained how it was resolved.
“Because your parents’ behavior disrupted the scenic area’s order, and there were tourist complaints, they were escorted out of the scenic area by the security guards.”
Xuan Xia: “…”
These two… she really didn’t know how to evaluate them.
They were so presumptuous treating the Daoist temple as their possession that they overlooked it being located in a scenic area after all.
Would the scenic area tolerate you throwing tantrums and chasing away guests inside?
Then Xuan Xia heard Lawyer Fang say: “Now they’ve been escorted out of the scenic area, but whether to let them in again, Daoist Master Qin said it depends on what Miss Xuan wants.”
“So I can ask the scenic area to put them on the blacklist?” Xuan Xia suddenly thought this suggestion was great.
“Of course, very straightforward.” Lawyer Fang’s tone carried a bit of smugness, “Anyway, this scenic area is under Daoist Master Qin’s control.”
Xuan Xia: “?”
Afraid Xuan Xia didn’t get it, Lawyer Fang specially explained in depth: “This scenic area was originally funded and built by Daoist Master Qin’s family, and later the management rights fell to him. You can tell Daoist Master Qin is quite satisfied here, that’s why he keeps living in the scenic area.”
She felt a bit numb.
So how many more surprises were there that she didn’t know about?
“Lawyer Fang.” She said dryly: “Do you know Daoist Master Qin’s specific name?”
“Daoist Master Qin?” Lawyer Fang was puzzled why she asked this, but still told her: “I always call him Daoist Master Qin, but if I remember right, it should be Qin Xie. Xie as in gratitude.”
After saying that, he asked her: “What’s up?”
Xuan Xia said: “Nothing.”
She just wanted to search online to see if there was related information.
“So what’s Miss Xuan’s current stance?” Lawyer Fang was asking about the Xuan couple.
Xuan Xia suddenly recalled the video earlier, where Mu Hailu feared Daoist Master Qin was coveting the Daoist temple for a share, and unceremoniously told him to pack up and get out. She almost wanted to laugh.
If she remembered right, in the version where Mu Hailu and the others took over the Daoist temple, they seemed to have sold the property rights to the scenic area.
Who knew if in that version these two had made a scene like today.
But this gave her a wicked idea.
