Chapter 37: Going Live
The female guests gathered at the passage entrance on the right side of the stadium.
The staff began arranging the order of appearance for each of them. The first to appear was Xie Yun, and the second was Nan Fu.
Xuan Xia was in fourth place.
The staff carefully confirmed the order with them, and after making sure there were no issues, pointed to the marked station positions inside the stadium and told them their positions for the live broadcast.
Unlike the planning on the female guests’ side, the male guests’ entrance was from the passage on the left, and there was no specific order of appearance; they would just rush out all at once.
The time reached 9:55, and the atmosphere inside the stadium suddenly became tense.
The staff rushed around, extremely busy.
The female guests were somewhat affected, their nervous emotions showing on their faces.
Xuan Xia, however, was the type who became more calm the closer it got to the “exam,” and she now had the leisure to observe her surroundings to pass the time.
On the male guests’ side, the most eye-catching one was still Zhou Shiqing.
Even from far away, and all wearing black sports uniforms, his white-haired head was too conspicuous, making it impossible not to notice him at a glance.
When retracting her line of sight, Xuan Xia noticed An Qi, who was lined up behind her, and couldn’t help but look at her a couple more times.
Because she was a girl group member, An Qi’s makeup and styling were in girl group style: Barbie-like long eyelashes and big eyes, pink and flushed blush like being slightly drunk, and full pouty lips, altogether like a doll.
But now the doll’s complexion was a bit pale—not the fake white from too much foundation, nor the pallor from illness; in short, somewhat strange, and there was also a stagnation in her brows.
An Qi, who had originally been looking down, keenly noticed the gaze, lifted her eyes to look at Xuan Xia.
Xuan Xia met her eyes, then spoke: “Are you nervous?”
An Qi was stunned upon hearing this, not expecting to be asked that, and answered blankly: “Not nervous.”
“The live broadcast has started!”
Someone suddenly shouted this from somewhere, directly interrupting Xuan Xia’s intention to say more. An Qi also shifted her attention from Xuan Xia’s face, straightened her body, and looked toward the inside of the stadium.
At 9:58, the online live broadcast room for “Pit-a-Pat, Those of Us Falling in Love in Summer” suddenly opened.
Two minutes earlier than the scheduled time.
In the first ten seconds after the live broadcast room opened, the bullet comments were still completely quiet.
But starting from the eleventh second, the bullet comments surged in like a tsunami.
[It started???]
[It started, it started]
[Aaaah I love this lack of punctuality!! Hurry and let my husband out]
[Zhou Shiqing Zhou Shiqing Zhou Shiqing, I’m here]
[Fairy only here for He Tiandong, He Tiandong fighting!]
[Zhou Shiqing Zhou Shiqing Zhou Shiqing Zhou Shiqing]
[Here to see my pretty Yun Nü’er, Mama Yun Nü’er loves you]
……
The highest popularity in the bullet comments was still Zhou Shiqing.
Basically, his name had to be brushed three or four times before another person’s name appeared.
The live broadcast camera was originally fixed on the stadium’s signboard, but after the bullet comments surged in, the camera cut to today’s two hosts.
The two hosts invited by the program group today: one was an experienced professional host, and the other was a popular comedian.
Their division of labor was also clear: one responsible for cueing the process, the other for livening up the atmosphere.
After receiving the signal from the staff to start broadcasting, the host spoke into the camera for the opening remarks: “Welcome everyone to ‘Pit-a-Pat, Those of Us Falling in Love in Summer’…”
Before he finished speaking, the partner beside him had already burst into laughter. The host pretended to be displeased and turned to ask what the other was laughing at.
The partner said: “Ah, the name of our program just feels so funny. Pit-a-pat, you get it, right?”
The host said: “How could it? Pit-a-pat is the sound of a heartbeat. What strange thing did you associate it with?”
The two bantered about the program name for a bit, until the staff gave the second signal, then they wrapped up the topic of the program name and formally entered the segment introducing the guests.
The host said: “Alright, the audience friends must be very eager to meet our guests. So without further ado, let’s start bringing out the guests.”
The partner immediately shouted toward the left side: “Male guests, come out together!”
The camera cut, focusing on the entrance on the left.
As the camera continued to advance, the male guests walked out from the entrance.
The live broadcast bullet comments exploded.
[Aaaahhhhh husband!!!!!]
[Husband’s white hair looks so good, even better than the promo photo aaa]
[Zhou Shiqing truly excels in fashion, this little white hair is so handsome, among a bunch of people standing together he’s the most eye-catching]
[Hahaha they all have unified clothing! Suddenly feels like a school sports meet.]
[I’m different from you all, my little white hair goose!!]
[Even though they’re all wearing the same, Zhou Shiqing is sleek and handsome, instantly outshining the others]
The bullet comments flew by rapidly, but the topic’s focus remained Zhou Shiqing.
In the live broadcast screen, the male guests had already taken their positions in a row on the host’s left side.
This image of them standing in a row immediately became a discussion point in the live broadcast room’s bullet comments.
And it quickly sparked synchronous buzz online.
Meanwhile, the host and guests, unable to see the bullet comment content, were exchanging pleasantries, with the host introducing each male guest to the audience one by one.
As the interaction between the host and male guests ended, the live broadcast room’s popularity and heat had multiplied several times compared to just after opening.
The host said: “The male guests probably know that this time we’ve invited five beautiful female guests.”
The male guests nodded cooperatively.
He Tiandong even proactively added: “Yes, I’m already impatient to meet them.”
The two hosts laughed haha.
The bullet comments also followed with a wave of haha, his fans spamming that he was the attention hog.
The host partner cued He Tiandong: “He Tiandong, you can’t be like this, being like this makes you worthless. Men should be reserved!”
He Tiandong smiled back: “Got it. So can I see them now?”
The scene erupted in laughter again.
However, none of the female guests watching the male guests and host interact the whole time laughed.
Everyone probably felt about the same: Was there really anything funny?
Xuan Xia, however, confirmed that this program was indeed hyping He Tiandong.
Because those few lines of interaction between He Tiandong and the host were not in the script.
After a few more exchanges between He Tiandong and the host, the host finally moved to the next process, inviting the female guests.
“So, who is our first female guest—”
“Xie Yun!”
Xie Yun, at the front of the line, heard her name and instantly changed her expression, raising a sweet smile as she trotted out.
As soon as Xie Yun appeared, she received enthusiastic applause from the male guests—well, not all of them; Zhou Shiqing didn’t move.
From the moment he appeared until he stood in place, he maintained the “that year I had my hands in my pockets, not understanding what rivals are” cool guy pose.
