Chapter 108: Regard Humans As Enemies
Owl Tutu’s home is in the forest park, eight kilometers away from the suburban villa.
After parking the car, Yi Ya led them to find Owl Tutu.
The sky today was obscured by dark clouds, and coupled with the dense foliage of the forest park, intertwined layer upon layer, the surrounding environment was cast in a somber and dim hue.
The owl’s nest was in a tree, very hidden; it was impossible to find without careful observation.
Yi Ya flew to the entrance of the hole and shouted, “Tutu, I’ve brought them.”
Soon, an owl emerged.
It glanced warily down at the ground and asked in a low voice, “Are these humans really reliable?”
“I think they are reliable,” Yi Ya said. “See, aren’t I fine?”
Owl Tutu grumbled, “It’s different. You’re a crow, humans won’t catch you.”
Yi Ya didn’t like hearing that and pecked its head angrily, “Only you owls are noble.”
“I didn’t mean that,” Owl Tutu was quite helpless with its cousin.
Jiang Yuan listened to the exchange between the two cousins and called out gently, “Hello Tutu, I’m Jiang Yuan, and I really want to help you and your grandfather.”
“Let’s go,” Yi Ya flapped its wings and flew towards Jiang Yuan.
Owl Tutu hesitated for a few seconds and also flew down.
Yi Ya landed directly on Jiang Yuan’s shoulder.
Owl Tutu saw this scene and strongly disapproved of such behavior, calling out vigilantly, “Cousin Yi Ya!”
“It’s okay,” Yi Ya shook its head. “This human girl is different from those humans who harm owls; she’s not dangerous.”
“Tutu, this is my work identification card,” Jiang Yuan took out the ID card she had just received a few days ago. “These two are my colleagues; they are responsible for catching bad people, and humans who attack owls are their targets.”
Meng Xiaokai and Xiao Xu also took out their identification cards.
Owl Tutu and Yi Ya both leaned over to look closely.
Yi Ya stared at Meng Xiaokai’s identification photo and commented, “This human’s photo is better-looking than he is in person.”
“What did it say?” Meng Xiaokai looked at Jiang Yuan.
She pressed her lips together. “She said your photo is good-looking.”
Meng Xiaokai was very happy. “Not bad, it’s a crow with vision.”
Owl Tutu was not as optimistic as its cousin Yi Ya.
It asked furiously, “Since you’re catching those humans, why was my grandfather still harmed?”
This question made Jiang Yuan feel somewhat ashamed.
Yes, humans said they would protect them, but its family was killed by humans.
Jiang Yuan apologized, “Sorry, it was indeed thoughtless of humans.”
Actually, the police had been cracking down on illegal hunting, but these lawbreakers’ methods were endless. They’d strictly prohibit it this time, and new tricks would appear next time.
Owl Tutu asked again, “Can you really save my grandfather?”
Jiang Yuan met its round eyes and frankly said, “I can’t be sure if I can save him, but I will definitely try my best.”
Owl Tutu knew it had no other choice.
If it continued to drag on, the grandfather’s condition would only worsen.
It could only take a gamble, a gamble that it and its grandfather would encounter kind humans this time.
“This time I choose to believe you,” Owl Tutu stared at Jiang Yuan. “But if my grandfather dies, I will make all owls boycott humans.”
Jiang Yuan opened her mouth, and finally turned into a silent sigh. “Okay.”
Owl Tutu’s grandfather, Kuren, could no longer move.
Owl Tutu called for its compatriots to help move its grandfather Kuren out of the nest.
But they tried several times and failed. The owls were so anxious they were about to cry.
Jiang Yuan was also anxious. Every minute of delay would worsen Owl Kuren’s condition.
They could afford to wait, but Kuren could not.
Jiang Yuan shouted, “Tutu, why don’t I climb up and get your grandfather out?”
After Owl Tutu and its compatriots discussed, they said to her, “Then we’ll trouble you.”
“This tree is quite tall; can you do it?”
“Jiang Yuan, why don’t you let Xiaokai try?”
Meng Xiaokai and Xiao Xu both looked worried.
If anything happened to Jiang Yuan, the captain and the bureau chief might tear them to pieces.
“Yes, let me try,” Meng Xiaokai rolled up his sleeves and started climbing the tree.
But he didn’t have much experience climbing trees, and after a few tries, he failed.
Meng Xiaokai looked embarrassed. “I was very well-behaved as a child. When other children were climbing trees, I was at home studying.”
“…” Xiao Xu put her hand to her forehead.
Her partner was really useless.
“I’ll do it then,” Jiang Yuan took off her jacket and rolled up her sleeves.
She hadn’t climbed trees before either, but perhaps because she had recently gained 10 combat power points, she found climbing the tree surprisingly effortless.

Xiao Xu also sighed, “Jiang Yuan is really awesome.”
Jiang Yuan climbed to the location of the owl’s nest and stopped. She braced her legs, clasped the tree trunk, freed one hand, and carefully held the weak owl Kuren in her hand.

Xiao Xu held Jiang Yuan’s jacket and watched from below, frowning, but noticed that Jiang Yuan didn’t even frown.
She was really not pretentious at all.
As she neared the ground, Jiang Yuan said to Xiao Xu, “Wrap it with my jacket.”
“Okay,” Xiao Xu hurriedly unfolded Jiang Yuan’s jacket and held it up high.
Jiang Yuan placed the owl on the jacket and jumped directly from the tree. Her feet landed on the dry branches and leaves. The first thing she said was, “We need to contact the Forestry Bureau to send a veterinarian to perform surgery on Kuren.”
Kuren’s condition was serious, and she didn’t trust doctors at an ordinary pet hospital.
After all, she had made a promise with Tutu that if Kuren couldn’t survive, owls would view humans as enemies from then on.
“Understood, I’ll make the contact,” Meng Xiaokai said, and immediately took out his phone to make a call.
Owl Tutu watched this scene, somewhat stunned.
It seemed these humans really wanted to save its grandfather.
Especially this long-haired human girl.
She had her arm scratched by the tree bark to help her grandfather out of the nest.
“You’re hurt,” Yi Ya looked at Jiang Yuan’s arm.
“It’s okay, it’s nothing,” Jiang Yuan glanced at her bleeding arm, calmly pulled down her sleeve. “Let’s go, Kuren’s body temperature is a bit low, we need to hurry.”
“Then Tutu and I will go with you,” Yi Ya asked again before leaving, “You’ll provide us with meals, right?”
Hearing this, a smile flashed in Jiang Yuan’s eyes. “We will.”
“That’s good,” Yi Ya then felt relieved.
Tutu was speechless with her, but didn’t say anything.
