Chapter 109: He Buried The Person In The Flower Bed
Meng Xiaokai had already communicated with the Forestry Bureau. They were arranging for a veterinarian to perform surgery on the owl Kuren at any time.
Getting into the driver’s seat of the car, Meng Xiaokai said while fastening his seatbelt, “They sent me an address, it’s the Yun Jing Wildlife Protection Base. I’ll navigate there now.”
“Okay,” Jiang Yuan let the owl Kuren rest on her lap, wrapping it tightly in her jacket.
The curly-haired cat Daisy, the owl Tutu, and Yi Ya stood on the seat beside her.
They looked at the weak Kuren, their furry little faces full of sadness.
The car sped down the highway, and silence fell within the carriage.
After an unknown amount of time, Xiao Xu broke the silence, “Su Wan and Su Mei are cousins. Su Mei’s parents died when she was young, and she grew up at Su Wan’s house.”
“Su Wan is excellent, praised by everyone, and has never lacked suitors. Kang Chengye was one of them.”
“Su Mei actually admired Kang Chengye. Just as she was preparing to confess to him, she didn’t expect him to become her cousin Su Wan’s boyfriend.”
“Later, Su Wan decided to go overseas to pursue her dreams and proposed a divorce to Kang Chengye.”
“Su Mei used her face, which was extremely similar to Su Wan’s, to intentionally approach Kang Chengye. Later, the two confirmed their romantic relationship and registered their marriage seven years ago.”
“Last November, Su Wan returned to the country, and Kang Chengye proposed a divorce to Su Mei again. Su Mei refused.”
After listening to what Xiao Xu read, Meng Xiaokai was speechless about Kang Chengye. “Kang Chengye’s actions are too outrageous. If he still had Su Wan in his heart, he shouldn’t have married Su Mei in the first place.”
“Yes,” Xiao Xu frowned. “Didn’t he consider that this would affect Su Wan and Su Mei’s sisterly relationship?”
“Of course he wouldn’t consider those things,” Jiang Yuan said calmly. “A selfish person like him only considers himself.”
“That’s right,” Daisy chimed in. “Su Wan also said Kang Chengye is a selfish person, saying he does whatever he wants and never cares about others’ lives.”
Hearing this, Jiang Yuan’s brow furrowed slightly. “If Su Mei killed her own sister because of this man, then she would be too foolish.”
“What did you say?” Daisy suddenly became agitated. “Are you saying Su Wan was likely killed by Su Mei?”
Jiang Yuan glanced at the owl Tutu from the corner of her eye and softly explained, “Daisy, we are only suspecting at this point. The day before yesterday, my swallow friend told me that its friend saw someone being buried in the villa area where Su Mei lives.”
Her voice paused slightly, then she continued, “And you just happen to not be able to find Su Mei.”
Hearing these words, the owl’s round eyes stared intently at Jiang Yuan.
Jiang Yuan noticed its gaze and slightly turned her head to look out the car window.
After about a minute, the owl Tutu spoke, “Are you the human named Yuan Yuan that Little Mo Yan mentioned?”
Jiang Yuan turned her head and met its gaze, slowly nodding. “Yes, are you Little Mo Yan’s owl friend? Thank you for providing us with a clue.”
Hearing Jiang Yuan’s thanks, the owl’s eyes flickered slightly, and it suddenly felt a bit guilty.
“You don’t have to thank me,” it turned its head away. “I’m not telling you to help you.”
Jiang Yuan said softly, “But you have indeed helped us a lot.”
The owl Tutu fell silent.
Silence fell in the carriage again.
Ten minutes later, the car drove into the Yun Jing Wildlife Protection Base.
The veterinarian arranged by the Forestry Bureau was already in place. They took the owl Kuren from Jiang Yuan.
The other party looked solemn. “We’ll take it from here.”
Jiang Yuan nodded. “Thank you for your hard work.”
“I want to watch the entire process,” the owl Tutu said.
Hearing this, Jiang Yuan conveyed its request to the veterinarian at the protection base.
Fearing rejection, she also recounted the situation of the owl Tutu’s family being harmed.
It was not an easy matter for animals to still trust humans in such a situation and entrust their family to them.
The person in charge of the base understood and agreed to the owl Tutu’s request.
“To facilitate communication with it, it might take up some of Consultant Jiang’s time.”
“No problem,” Jiang Yuan nodded in agreement.
The owl Kuren’s body temperature had dropped severely and its heartbeat was weak. It was arranged to be taken into a sterile room for examination and emergency treatment.
Jiang Yuan and the others, along with Tutu and Yi Ya, stood before the sterile room’s glass window, clearly seeing the veterinarian’s series of operations.
Tutu’s heart rate accelerated. Every time the veterinarian made a move, its heart tightened, afraid they would harm its grandfather.
The owl Kuren’s wing was injured by a slingshot, but because it did not receive timely treatment, its condition had become so bad.
After the emergency treatment, the veterinarian told Jiang Yuan that if they had arrived a day or two later, even with advanced medical technology, it would have been useless.
“How is it now?” Jiang Yuan asked worriedly.
The veterinarian revealed a relieved smile. “The emergency surgery went smoothly, but it needs to rest in an incubator during this period. It can only return to the forest after it has fully recovered.”
“Did you hear that?” Jiang Yuan turned her head and asked Tutu. “The doctor said your grandfather’s surgery was very successful.”
The owl Tutu’s tense mood finally relaxed. “I heard…”
This time, it had won its gamble.
It had encountered a group of kind humans.
Tutu choked out, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Jiang Yuan said with a smile. “It’s what we should do.”
Tutu thought for a moment and said softly, “Actually, I didn’t tell Little Mo Yan the truth before.”
“What do you mean?” Jiang Yuan looked at it with confusion.
Tutu: “Actually, I saw the person’s appearance clearly last time. He had a mole on his ear.”
Jiang Yuan: “Are you talking about the person who was burying someone in the ground?”
Tutu: “Yes, he buried the person in a flower bed and then planted flowers on it.”
Hearing this, Jiang Yuan’s mind instantly flashed to the flower-filled flower bed at Su Mei’s villa.
She murmured, “If that’s the case, then Su Wan was likely murdered.”
“Jiang Yuan, what did it say?” Meng Xiaokai and Xiao Xu looked at her nervously.
Jiang Yuan looked at the two of them, her slender eyebrows tightly furrowed. “Do you have a photo of Kang Chengye?”
“Yes,” Xiao Xu quickly took out his phone and brought up Kang Chengye’s photo. “This is his photo.”
Jiang Yuan took the phone and enlarged the photo. She indeed saw a mole on the lobe of Kang Chengye’s right ear.
She looked up at the two of them, her expression serious. “Tutu told me that Kang Chengye was the one burying the person that night. He buried the person in the flower bed and then planted flowers on it.”
“Ah?” Xiao Xu looked shocked. “Kang Chengye killed Su Wan and buried her? Didn’t he say he loved her and couldn’t forget her? How could he have dealt such a fatal blow?”
“How insane,” Meng Xiaokai’s lips twitched slightly, also a bit confused by the situation.
“It is indeed insane,” Jiang Yuan couldn’t understand it either. She said solemnly, “We might have to go to Su Mei’s villa again.”
