Interrogation room.
Su Mei had been sitting there for two hours.
She hadn’t confessed a single word, always saying she didn’t know, no matter what was asked.
“Boss, she’s a bit difficult to handle,” Meng Xiaokai scratched his head.
Si Heng narrowed his dark eyes slightly and said coldly, “Let her stew for another two hours. Have you contacted Kang Chengye?”
Xiao Xu replied, “Just contacted him. He said he’ll be here in half an hour.”
Twenty-nine minutes later, Kang Chengye arrived at the police station with a solemn expression.
Meng Xiaokai led him into the interrogation room.
Si Heng sat opposite him, his deep dark eyes full of scrutiny, his thin lips uttering a chilling voice, “Name?”
“Kang Chengye.”
“…”
“At 10 AM today, the police found a female corpse in a flower bed in your garden. Are you aware of this?”
“I don’t know,” Kang Chengye shook his head.
“Is that so?” A meaningful arc hooked at the corner of Si Heng’s lips. “But your wife, Mrs. Su Mei, has already confessed.”
Hearing this, Kang Chengye calmly asked, “What did she confess?”
Si Heng: “She committed murder, and you hid the body.”
Kang Chengye only maintained a calm facade on the surface; inwardly, he was incredibly flustered, his clasped palms already seeping cold sweat.
“Are you joking?” He forced a smile. “How could my wife admit to something I didn’t do?”
“Are you sure?” Si Heng said lightly. “Mr. Kang Chengye, I think it’s necessary to remind you that our country’s criminal policy emphasizes leniency for confession and strictness for resistance.”
“Of course, I know,” Kang Chengye smiled. “But I cannot possibly accept this baseless charge.”
Si Heng stood up, rested his hands on the table, leaned down, and glanced at the other party. “It’s okay. You have enough time to think it through.”
After speaking, he turned and walked out of the interrogation room.
As soon as Si Heng opened the door, he saw Jiang Yuan’s figure.
His gaze brightened slightly, and a sense of joy he hadn’t even noticed himself surged in his heart. “Jiang Yuan.”
Jiang Yuan turned her head and saw him striding over.
“How did it go?” she asked.
Si Heng shook his head. “The couple are very stubborn.”
Jiang Yuan said softly, “I’ll go see Su Mei.”
Si Heng: “Okay, let Xiao Xu go with you.”
Jiang Yuan pushed open the interrogation room door and saw Su Mei sitting with her head down at the table. The hair draped over her shoulders was slightly disheveled, and the buttons on her coat were fastened incorrectly, lacking any of the elegance and composure from previous days.
Hearing the movement, Su Mei looked up.
Seeing Jiang Yuan, her dim eyes moved slightly. “Have you been suspecting me? I haven’t done anything.”
“No,” Jiang Yuan pulled out a chair and sat opposite her, her eyebrows and eyes calm. “We didn’t suspect you at all from the beginning.”
Su Mei frowned deeply, carefully recalling which step she had taken wrong that would cause the police to suspect her.
“You were too confident,” Jiang Yuan said gently. “Did you think approaching us proactively would prevent suspicion?”
Su Mei’s face changed slightly, and she immediately denied it. “I didn’t! I just thought you were working too hard!”
“Mrs. Su Mei,” Jiang Yuan’s tone became solemn. “For a man not worth it, you ruined yourself and Su Wan, whom you grew up with. Do you really not regret it?”

Jiang Yuan: “Kang Chengye doesn’t have you in his heart. You could have taken a portion of his family fortune and found a younger, more handsome boyfriend.”

“You admired her?” A hint of doubt appeared in Jiang Yuan’s eyes. “Don’t you resent her?”
Su Mei laughed maniacally. “I both admired her and resented her.”
“Why?”
“She was excellent and kind. When everyone criticized me for not being as good as her, she would always comfort me considerately,” Su Mei’s smile turned gentle. “At that time, I felt very happy to have such a good older sister.”
Jiang Yuan didn’t speak, quietly acting as a listener.
“But later, she started dating, and her care for me lessened,” Su Mei’s expression became sad. “The time I met with her also became less and less.”

Jiang Yuan frowned slightly. “This is Kang Chengye’s problem. Why do you blame everything on Su Wan?”
