Wu Tianyu returned home at 2:30 AM. Lili was woken up and, upon seeing him vomit on the sofa, she angrily said a few words.
“Why did you drink so much again?”
“Why didn’t you throw up in the trash can? The sofa is so disgusting.”
Lili said, while cleaning up the vomit on the sofa.
A hand suddenly grabbed her neck from behind.
Lili frowned in pain and shouted, “What are you doing? Let go! You’re hurting me!”
She turned around to push him away, but was unexpectedly slapped.
Lili felt a burning hot pain on her cheek, and her head buzzed.
Covering her face, she looked at him with red-rimmed eyes in disbelief, “Wu Tianyu, didn’t you say you would never hit me again?”
“Do you think I want to hit you?” The man pointed at her face with his finger and cursed ferociously, “You forced me! What’s wrong with me drinking? What’s wrong with me throwing up on the sofa?”
Tears welled up in her eyes, and Lili choked out, “You can drink, but don’t drink until midnight. It’s okay if you vomit on the sofa, but don’t make me clean it up!”
As soon as she finished speaking, Wu Tianyu raised his hand and slapped her again, “I married you to serve me. If you don’t do this or that, what did I marry you for?”
Lili was knocked to the sofa by the slap. She stared at the man indignantly, feeling incredibly wronged, “What did you say? Married me to serve you?”
“What else?” Wu Tianyu tugged at his tie, his reddened eyes full of contempt. “Do you think I married you to treat you like an ancestor? If it weren’t for your maternal family having some money, do you think I would have married you?”
“You…” Lili trembled with anger. “You swore at the wedding that you would dote on me and treat me well for the rest of your life!”
At that time, Wu Tianyu had even tearfully told all the guests that he had married the woman he loved.
“That’s hilarious!” Wu Tianyu laughed, his shoulders shaking. “You believed those words?”
Lili couldn’t believe it. “So everything you said was a lie?”
Wu Tianyu leaned close to her, grabbed her collar, and warned her in a tone that revealed his threat, “Don’t care if it was true or not. From now on, be obedient and don’t talk too much. I won’t mistreat you.”
“Get lost!” Lili said angrily. “I want a divorce!”
“You dare!” Wu Tianyu lifted his delicate wife and slammed her back onto the sofa, then grabbed her neck and asked, “If you dare to divorce me, I’ll kill you.”
Lili had been pampered by her parents since childhood. She never expected to suffer domestic violence after marriage.
Wu Tianyu took out his belt and started hitting her. Lili could only hide in the wardrobe.
The man stood in front of the wardrobe, warning her like a demon, “If you dare to divorce me, I’ll dare to kill you!”
Lili’s face was streaked with tears, and she trembled as she said, “I don’t dare anymore, I’ll never dare again…”
“You’d better not dare!” Wu Tianyu threw down the belt and walked into the bathroom.
Lili sat in the wardrobe, hugging her knees, crying silently.

That night, she spent it inside the wardrobe, listening to the man’s snores from the bedroom, her heart aching.
The next day, after Wu Tianyu got up, he frantically pulled open the wardrobe door.
He knelt before the haggard Lili, crying like a child, “Wife, I’m sorry. I was drunk last night. It wasn’t intentional. Can you forgive me?”
Lili looked at him expressionlessly, moving her dry lips. “Wu Tianyu, you said the same thing last time you hit me. What was the result?”
“Wife, this time it’s real.” Wu Tianyu held her hand, his eyes full of regret. “I won’t drink anymore. As long as I don’t drink, this won’t happen. Please don’t be angry with me, okay?”
“How can I believe you?” Lili’s eyes were red, and her voice was tinged with a sob. “You said so many hurtful things last night, have you forgotten them all?”
“I was talking nonsense, wife. Don’t take it seriously.” Wu Tianyu raised his hand and slapped himself. “Wife, should I punish myself? I’m a scoundrel, I’m confused. How could I hurt such a good wife!”
Lili remained unmoved, only watching him with tears streaming down her face.
She would never believe him again.
“Wu Tianyu, forget it.” Lili gave a bitter smile. “I’ve made up my mind. We’re getting a divorce.”
Wu Tianyu frowned, got up, rushed into the kitchen, and returned to Lili with a fruit knife.
Seeing the glinting fruit knife, Lili’s heart skipped a beat, and fear appeared in her eyes. “Wu Tianyu, what are you going to do?”
“Lili, don’t be afraid.” Wu Tianyu quickly said, “I’m not going to hurt you, I’m going to punish myself!”
After saying that, he cut his own thigh, and fine beads of blood instantly soaked through the white silk pajamas.
Lili’s expression changed, and she said urgently, “What are you doing? Are you crazy?”
“Lili, I did something wrong, and I deserve to be punished.” Wu Tianyu looked at her pitifully. “If I make you hurt, I will inflict that pain on myself tenfold! You are the woman I love the most. I actually hurt you, I’ve gone too far!”
He cut his thigh again.
“Stop it!” Lili said anxiously. “Can you please not do this?”
“Lili, I’m sorry, I have to punish myself!” Wu Tianyu cut himself again. “I need to remember this, so I don’t hurt you again. I really don’t want a divorce.”
He looked at Lili, his eyes full of reluctance. “Lili, I can’t live without you, and I don’t want to leave you. Without you, I simply cannot live.”
Lili felt very conflicted. She closed her eyes. “Don’t force me, okay?”
“I’m not forcing you.” Wu Tianyu said affectionately, “If you really want a divorce, I will grant it. But if we divorce, I won’t live either. I don’t want to live a single moment without you.”
“You…” Lili frowned tightly. “You say you’re not forcing me?”
“I really am not.” Wu Tianyu knelt down again. “How could I bear to force you? I’m just proving my feelings, Lili. I love you. Losing you means losing the whole world. My life, my heart, is all yours. If you leave, what’s the difference between that and me dying?”
He cried and pointed the knife tip at his own chest. “Lili, in the next life, we’ll be husband and wife again.”
