Chapter 106: Starting The Class!
“These are slippers, and here are your pajamas.”
“Here are the towels!~”
Mu Nanshu, wearing pajamas, brought Lu Cheng neatly folded toiletries and said, then added shyly, “I’ve already bought changes of outerwear and pants, and men’s toiletries and a shaver, but… I didn’t buy any underwear.”
Lu Cheng knew Mu Nanshu meant he hadn’t bought underwear.
“Then how about I order some takeout? It’s convenient these days.” Lu Cheng thought for a moment and didn’t stand on ceremony with Mu Nanshu.
“Okay, it’s best to buy disposable ones. You go take a shower, and I’ll put on a face mask.” Mu Nanshu turned and wasn’t particularly reserved.
Mu Nanshu was wearing an autumn long nightgown, with a light purple super-large-eared rabbit embroidered on the chest.
The nightgown was loose, but it fit snugly, and the lines inadvertently revealed as she walked made Lu Cheng’s imagination run wild…
Some past events gradually became clear in his mind.
“No… this won’t do, what if I get pregnant?”
“Didn’t we agree to get engaged once we weren’t long-distance? It’s not much longer now, it’s okay.”
“We’ll get engaged after graduation. My parents even asked about this.”
“I heard the first time wearing that isn’t good… Oh dear, don’t be naughty.”
“…”
“Is the second round of examination over? Let’s go eat, to celebrate you.”
“The teaching secretary from orthopedics just called me, asking me to prepare for adjustment early.”
“Impossible!~ Absolutely impossible, did you hear wrong?”
“I didn’t hear wrong.”
“Let’s go, let’s go find them and ask them why, this is impossible!~ I asked, and he said a teacher fancied you.” Mu Nanshu, usually a bit slow-witted, took Lu Cheng to argue with them.
The result, of course, was that they couldn’t win the argument…
When Lu Cheng came out of the washroom, Mu Nanshu was blow-drying her hair, wearing a transparent face mask, and pointed to Lu Cheng, indicating there was another hair dryer.
Lu Cheng said, “In the summer, I’m not used to blow-drying my hair; I usually just towel dry it and let it air dry.”
“It’s not long anyway… it dries quickly.”
After speaking, Lu Cheng looked around the small three-bedroom apartment and said, “Your aunt and uncle have good taste in interior design, and it’s kept quite exquisite.”
“My parents hired a designer and outsourced the whole thing.”
Lu Cheng didn’t pay much attention to the “careful thoughts” of Mu Nanshu’s parents knowing his situation but not telling Mu Nanshu directly.
They were Mu Nanshu’s parents, and of course, they wanted Mu Nanshu to have an even more excellent partner.
Lu Cheng’s future was promising back then, but to them now, he still seemed to have a certain gap compared to Mu Nanshu.
He was already very grateful to his aunt and uncle that they didn’t directly interfere with Mu Nanshu’s choice or sabotage it.
Mu Nanshu’s blow-drying was nearing its end, her silky waist-length hair cascading down like a waterfall.
She adjusted her skirt hem, then took off the face mask, and began to rub her face, asking, “You’re coming to Hanshi City for a training class, why didn’t you tell me beforehand?”
“And it wasted a night of hotel fees.”
Mu Nanshu stood in front of the mirror, her back to Lu Cheng.
Lu Cheng said, “It’s a business trip covered by public funds. I’m here with learning tasks from the hospital, so it’s not a waste.”
“Besides, I wasn’t sure when I could get leave. The class starts tomorrow, and if I couldn’t make time and had already made arrangements, it would have been more troublesome.”
“If I had known I was staying here, I would have brought my suitcase, and I even brought you something.”
Mu Nanshu smiled, “You can go get it tomorrow, the suitcase isn’t going anywhere.”
“If you’re registering tomorrow, you can go to sleep first. I’m working in the laboratory now; my hours are nine to five.”
Mu Nanshu understood Lu Cheng’s planning, which was exactly as he had said before.
To be admitted exceptionally by Xiehe Hospital or a top teaching hospital, one must have ability.
Technique doesn’t appear out of thin air; it must be learned.
“There’s no rush for now. We’ll be registering between eight and ten tomorrow. This class is very small, only six people in total.”
“I thought I wouldn’t get in, I didn’t expect to be selected.”
“The formal classes don’t start until two in the afternoon, so there’s no rush either.”
Lu Cheng then added, “Shudai’er, you just said you asked for me before, and Huashan Hospital said I could get in, what’s that about?”
Mu Nanshu said, “After your postgraduate entrance examination scores came out, I went to ask in the orthopedics department for you. The teaching secretary there clearly told me that your score would definitely be accepted.”
“However, I later found out that the professor who originally preferred clinical students unfortunately died of a heart attack in March that year…”
“And other mentors have their own preferences for selecting students…”
“Oh. Thanks.” Lu Cheng’s heart ached.
The reason he lost the opportunity to be considered was that a teacher had fallen at his post.
Mu Nanshu had done many things for him behind his back, but since the outcome was disappointing, she hadn’t mentioned any of it.
“Remember to send me your course schedule later. We agreed last time that I’d take you to eat good food.”
“In our research group, there are quite a few foodies, and they’ve recommended a lot of places to me that I haven’t had a chance to try yet.”
“If I remember correctly, the training class doesn’t have evening sessions.”
Mu Nanshu herself had said that she had attended many training classes abroad, which allowed her to graduate smoothly during her studies.
“Okay… well, if the timing works out, we can go to the Wuchang District. I’m more familiar with that area,” Lu Cheng suggested.
“Sure…” Mu Nanshu agreed without hesitation.
…
The next day, 7:30 AM.
Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu drove to exchange room cards and get their luggage. After loading the suitcases into the trunk, they went to eat hot dry noodles.
However, Mu Nanshu still wasn’t used to it and bought fried dough sticks and soy milk halfway through.
When Mu Nanshu parted ways with Lu Cheng at the underground parking lot, she said, “You can directly order from those takeout places I recommended; it should be better than you just picking randomly.”
“Of course, your training class provides main meals, so you can try those too.”
“If you encounter any problems, you can call me. Although I’ve only been here a short while, I’m still part of this hospital, so maybe I can help you.”
Mu Nanshu’s instructions were like those from an “elder sister.”
“Got it, thanks Boss Shu.” Lu Cheng found it difficult to adapt to Mu Nanshu being like this for a moment.
“Fine, I won’t nag you anymore. You’re definitely more used to going out than I am.”
Mu Nanshu glanced at her mobile phone, checking the time, and then walked towards another building.
Lu Cheng, following the electronic “Class Admission Notice,” wound his way through to the 12th floor of the Xiehe Hospital Functional Experiment Building, room 1215!
Unlike the grand and open appearance of the Functional Experiment Building, lab 1215 was decorated in a very ‘old-fashioned’ antique style; even the paint on the stainless steel door had peeled off.
At the entrance, there was only a table with peeling paint and a ‘sign-in sheet’ with the names of six people written on it.
There wasn’t even anyone in charge of registration and sign-in.
Two people had already signed in. Seeing this scene, Lu Cheng couldn’t help but feel he might have been tricked…
This is it?
Ten Thousand for five days?
Lu Cheng stood still for a moment, and then a very fat man, two years younger than Lu Cheng, walked over with a waddle, patting his stomach.
Seeing Lu Cheng looking at the table with a troubled expression, he proactively asked, “Teacher, are you here to register for the Hand Surgery training class?”
“Uh, yes!~” Lu Cheng replied.
“What’s your name? Please give me your ID card, and also fill in some information. After verification, I’ll give you your student ID, which you can use to dine at the hospital’s staff cafeteria…” The fat man smiled kindly.
Lu Cheng thought: This might truly be a rip-off.
