Chapter 25: Exorcising Ghosts In Dreams
I only knew it was a dream after waking up in the morning. After thinking about it carefully, my primordial spirit must have driven away the ghosts in my dream.
Because usually, when I sleep, I can feel things around me and wake up at any time. Those are always real situations, not in a dream.
I guess it’s because I had this ability before, so I could perceive other things in my dream and woke up within the dream.
There was another time when I knew I was dreaming. Why did I know?
Because when I was a teenager, after an accident, I had lucid dreams every day. I knew I was dreaming, and then I played in the dream, flew in it, and could arbitrarily change my form.
It’s just that I became addicted later, and wanted to sleep during the day to play in my dreams. I only woke up for three or four hours a day. So I became a little scared. Every time I entered a dream, I would wake myself up and go back to sleep. Gradually, I lost this ability, and only occasionally had one or two dreams.
This time, I knew I was dreaming. In the dream, I found a ghost that looked like Chen Haonan causing trouble at my doorstep, constantly swaying at my door.
He was swaying at the door on the first floor, so I kicked the door open and started cursing, “What the hell are you doing? Are you crazy? You dare to come to my dream?”
“Sword Come!”
I originally wanted to summon the precious sword from upstairs like in novels, and then deal with him. I shouted twice but it didn’t work. Damn! I remember I practiced it in my dreams and it worked, but I don’t know why it’s not working now.
So I asked my girlfriend to get it for me.
Who knew this Chen Haonan would not fight honorably.
I was careless then, I didn’t dodge, and just smiled.
He suddenly attacked me, a sneak attack! *Slap!* A right whip kick, *slap!* a left front kick, *slap!* a series of five whips, stopping just short of hitting him.
Receive! Neutralize! Release!
Later, we leaped onto the rooftop of the second floor and fought fiercely.
At this moment, my girlfriend came out and threw the sword to me, and I brandished the sword to attack.
When Chen Haonan saw me wielding the sword with such ferocity, he seemed to have instantly transformed into someone else.
If the me before picking up the sword felt like a master to him, then the me with the sword was a master among masters, known as the Grand Master.
After more than ten rounds, Chen Haonan was completely unable to fight back, and even a few strands of his androgynous, handsome long hair were cut off by this old man.
Seeing that the situation was not good, he didn’t continue to fight and turned to jump off the rooftop and run away.
Damn, speaking of which, am I someone who cultivates Buddhism to attain enlightenment, a place he can just come and go as he pleases?
If I don’t let him recognize me today, then in the future, any cat or dog will dare to show off here, and that would be so damn annoying.
“Little thief! Don’t run! This old man will fight you for three hundred rounds!”
I chased him for more than two li.
I have to say, his combat power isn’t that strong, but his escape speed is really not to be trifled with.
I chased him like crazy, but still couldn’t catch him.
Forget it, no more chasing. Chasing further will delay my proper rest, and I have to go to work tomorrow morning.
Although this is a dream, after tossing and turning in the dream for a long time, I still wake up tired!
Many times, when I didn’t realize I was dreaming, I would wake up extremely tired.
“Screw your mother! If you dare to come to my house again, I’ll break your legs!”
I cursed him desperately from behind, not knowing if this bastard could hear me.
Anyway, I don’t want to chase anymore.
I felt like there was a splash of urine in my body, and there was a slight swelling in my lower abdomen, so I woke myself up.
I have to say, this kid really never came again after that.
These are not just stories, these are real things that happened, and they are very interesting.
Days passed as usual, and after half a year, my cultivation had improved significantly.
One day, in my sleep, my primordial spirit went to a nearby factory to exorcise demons.
I am very familiar with this factory, it is where I usually work, mainly producing various electronic parts for cars.
The only thing that felt different was that the factory had four floors, and at the entrance of the elevator on each floor, there was a Buddha statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva. The incense offerings seemed to indicate that someone specifically offered incense every day.
During the day, I felt something was not quite right. Logically, no matter how much the shopkeeper believed in Buddha, he wouldn’t put a statue on every floor, right?
As it turned out, when my primordial spirit arrived at the factory, I found many dark masses floating around the factory. My primordial spirit called them wandering souls and wild ghosts.
I had seen human-shaped ghosts before, but this kind of dark mass ghost that looked like smoke or fog was the first time I had seen it.
As the saying goes, righteousness and evil have always been irreconcilable. If he doesn’t go to hell, who will?
Without a word, I grabbed one with my left hand and stepped on one with my right foot. As usual, I shouted a few times, “Sword Come!” Damn, the sword still didn’t fly over.
I casually drew a short sword from my sleeve and *swish! swish!* killed them one by one.
Just as I was killing them with great pleasure, a black-robed old man suddenly appeared. He extended his hand to block my sword movement and said, “Fellow Daoist, please show mercy.”
I raised an eyebrow and replied in a questioning tone, “Show mercy? Mercy for what? Righteousness and evil have always been irreconcilable. For us cultivators, exorcising demons and protecting the Way is our heavenly duty. Get out of my way!”
“Fellow Daoist, Fellow Daoist, please show mercy for this old man’s sake. These spirits are also innocent. They are all people who died accidentally. They don’t want to wander around like this. I hope Fellow Daoist can be lenient and spare them a chance to survive. Consider it, consider it as me owing you a favor, okay?”
Normally, I wouldn’t be so unreasonable, and what the old man said was not without reason. These lingering vengeful spirits are not their own choice, but caused by special circumstances.
But looking at the countless black masses floating everywhere inside and outside the building, I knew I couldn’t leave them. Otherwise, even if they didn’t want to, due to the difference between humans and ghosts, their yin souls would passively affect the bodies of living people. If something went wrong, it would be too late.
So I didn’t give the old man any face at all.
“What are you talking about? Get out of my way quickly. This poor Daoist will not bother with them today. If they cause a great disaster in the future and are held accountable by those above, who will be blamed? You?”
The old man gritted his teeth, as if he had made a big decision.
“I’ll take responsibility if something happens!”
Seeing the old man’s persistence, I wanted to give him some face, but I knew how serious the consequences of this matter were. So I remained firm and said:
“You’ll take responsibility? What can you take responsibility for! Get out of the way quickly!”
After pushing the old man aside, I prepared to continue.
Who knew this old man was not ordinary either, and directly started fighting me.
I thought to myself, I am a dignified Heavenly Prodigy, a peerless sword immortal who attained enlightenment through self-cultivation, how could I not defeat an old man like you?
Guess what? Damn it, I really couldn’t beat him. After only a dozen rounds of fighting, I felt I was no match for this old man. I don’t know if it was an illusion, but I always felt that this old man wasn’t using his full strength, just fending me off. And I had only recently attained enlightenment, my strength was not as high as in immortal cultivation novels. I really couldn’t defeat him, and I was helpless.
In the end, I had to compromise, but I still had to maintain my dignity.
“Hmph! Old man, I’m only giving you face today! If anyone else dared to block me like this, I would have broken their legs long ago.”
The old man seemed to know I was bluffing and didn’t bother to pay attention to me. He just cupped his hands with a smile.
That meant thank you.
Only a month after this incident, as expected, someone really died in the factory.
