Chapter 83: The Real Thing
“The Dao is not the Dao, Buddha is not Buddha, wearing a Daoist robe and reciting Amitabha.
Not human, not immortal, pretending to be a Spirit Medium in the mortal world.
Everyone, please open your eyes, choosing the right master is very difficult.
When doing things, your heart must be firm, so as not to be exploited by others.”
Just like that, I got by in the mortal world by deceiving people, and my life got better day by day. While deceiving others, I also put on a righteous appearance, advising others not to be scammed.
This is called using deceptive tactics. I’m telling you to beware of being cheated. Once you feel what I’m saying is right, then I’ll personally deceive you.
Gradually, my life got better and better. Wherever I went, people would call me Zen Heart Great Master upon seeing me. They showed me great respect.
As a result, I was praised so highly that I unconsciously became arrogant.
Perhaps it was because I had been deceiving people for so long that I started to believe I was very capable myself.
My temperament became different; every gesture and movement exuded the air of a grand master.
As my life improved, I opened a “Go With The Flow Hall”.
I started selling incense, candles, paper money, and various idols of immortals and Buddhas.
I would even deceive those who came to buy from me, telling them that this wasn’t called buying, but “inviting.”
It turned out as I predicted: people are really interesting. If you tell them you’re selling, they won’t buy. But if you say they are “inviting,” then they will come.
They spent money readily, and one wasn’t enough, they had to invite them all: Bodhisattvas, the God of Wealth, Second Master Guan, the Earth God and Goddess, and various deities like the Fox, Yellow, White, Willow, and Grey spirits, and so on. They’d even borrow money if they didn’t have enough to invite them.
After inviting them back, most people placed them in a separate room for worship. Hahaha, because they invited so many, it filled entire rooms.
Honestly, if I weren’t selling these, I wouldn’t have gotten so many. Why would I get so many?
They believe in a lot of things but not in themselves. Inviting them is useless; the more they believe, the more foolish they become.
Of course, I bought all these things myself. If I didn’t spend money, who would give them to me? It would be immoral for me to pick up discarded items from others. I would never do such a thing. Cough cough cough.
You might say I’m deceiving them, but how should I put it? From another perspective, it’s not entirely like that. Because after they start believing in the deities in their hearts, they do feel a difference.
Moreover, it’s not just me deceiving them; they deceive themselves too. They constantly copy scriptures and meditate, implying things to themselves. Over time, the power of this belief begins to take effect, allowing them to genuinely obtain certain divine abilities.
They thought that meditation meant sitting there, clearing their minds, and adjusting their bodies to gain benefits.
They do gain some, but true meditation is being able to do it at all times, whether walking, sitting, or standing. This is because meditation refers to the Primordial Spirit remaining still. It means that one’s own thoughts and consciousness, after cultivation, remain pure and untainted at all times, not attached to anything, and not getting angry even when cursed, because it fundamentally doesn’t affect one’s state of mind.
Instead, they can even retort with a cheerful demeanor and not take it seriously. At more mischievous times, their hearts remain unmoved, and they deliberately infuriate others.
And with that, I still claim I’m helping them. If they don’t get angry, how can they practice controlling their emotions? If they don’t generate thoughts, how can they practice subduing their minds?
Don’t you agree? Hahaha. It’s just that some people can react and humbly ask for advice. Others cannot react and will start lecturing you about how good this classic is, how true that classic is, and what you need to do to achieve something.
In reality, they don’t even research the meaning of Buddha, they just listen to too many mythical stories and take them seriously, failing to see the underlying meaning.
When someone comes to ask for advice, I tell them a few truths. If they are foolish, I either say a few random things or agree with them, saying, “Yes, you are right. Everything you say is correct.” Hahaha.
This state of foolish belief is the savior mentality, where instead of finding reasons within themselves, they always seek external help.
On one hand, they believe a person’s fate is predetermined from birth, and on the other hand, they believe praying to gods and Buddhas can change destiny. This contradiction makes me speechless.
Not only that, but I also started offering courses. Online, through interviews and self-produced videos, I spread the Dao.
I tell half truths and half lies. Anyway, people are foolish and can’t tell the difference.
The things I realize, no one believes when I talk about them. Most people don’t understand. Only those with a true affinity for cultivating immortality can glean cultivation methods from the true teachings.
The others will only cling to the words in books and never research the meanings behind them. They think copying scriptures and reciting Buddha is cultivation.
They will believe whatever you tell them. To be honest, even if they recite and copy until they die, they will not truly learn the method of cultivating immortality. Because they are foolish, they believe whatever they are told. They don’t think or discriminate for themselves. They don’t study or research what they don’t understand, they just ask. After asking, they naturally believe whatever is said, because they are too lazy not to.
I don’t deceive everyone. I teach the truth to those with good character. For those with heavy bad habits, if they can’t be awakened, I let them be.
This is called speaking freely and impartially, or spreading the Dharma according to fate.
It’s like the state of inner purity, which is actually like a newborn child who doesn’t discriminate.
The spirit within, after removing the discernment, no longer distinguishes between good and bad from a self-centered perspective.
Simply put, they understand everything but are not attached. They don’t let bad habits influence them.
For example, watch a two or three-year-old child. If you play a game with them and pretend to shoot a gun with your hand, you intentionally lose to them every time.
But you’ll find that after you lose a few times, they will also intentionally lose a few times, and they’ll be very happy. Why is this?
Because normal adults always want to win. But a child’s spirit is very pure. When they do something, they only feel it’s fun. They don’t get hung up on winning or losing; they are happy whether they win or lose. This is the state before discrimination. Cultivators aim to return this spirit, tainted by bad habits, to the innate spirit before discrimination.
Of course, this doesn’t mean cultivating to that state makes one foolish, unaware, and unable to discriminate. Rather, it means achieving clear discrimination and not being attached to any one thing.
They readily accept what comes and let go of what leaves, without dwelling on it. They only enjoy the process and are not bothered.
This is the state of being pure and untainted, not attached to anything, and not clinging to anything!
But of course, I can’t just say this. The key is that even if I say it, many people won’t believe it, because only after achieving it will they know it’s like this.
Those who can’t achieve it say it’s not true, just like the sour grapes fable.
They themselves are bothered by their own foolishness, and yet they see someone cultivating without trouble but dare not believe it’s truly possible.
They stubbornly believe where they will go after death. What big idiots. Hahaha.
