Chapter 29: Obsession And Conspiracy
Su Huan repeated those words word by word with a playful look in his eyes, “They tore up the ticket.”
Hu An’s body immediately shook like chaff, with bean-sized sweat beads rolling down.
“Brother Su, there must be a misunderstanding here. It must be someone… those two people who wanted to harm me!”
“The person was chosen by you yourself.” Su Huan smiled noncommittally, turned his head to look at the worker below, “The other side refused the transaction?”
The worker was stunned for a moment, then nodded heavily and said, “Those two went up and said a few words, then tried to catch us together with that group, but Boss Gao blasted them to death with his supernatural ability in one go.”
“Impossible, how could they have the guts?” Hu An said hurriedly.
“Shut up!”
Su Huan’s voice suddenly turned icy cold.
Hu An shuddered and didn’t dare speak again.
Su Huan narrowed his eyes and asked the worker, “You mean those two came to catch you together with them?”
The worker was stunned for a moment, “Yes, then Boss Gao fought with them. I took the chance in the chaos to run back. Boss Su, let’s hurry and rescue Boss Gao.”
Su Huan smiled and patted Hu An’s cheek, “It seems they really don’t care whether you live or die.”
As soon as the words fell, without giving him a chance to speak, his reddish index finger directly poked into Hu An’s temple.
The man’s eyes bulged, and he fell headfirst, dropping under the carriage.
The worker hurriedly dodged, but still got splashed with a body full of muddy water.
Su Huan said indifferently, “Liang Kuan, take a team of people and clear the zombies around the train.”
Liang Kuan grunted in acknowledgment, hesitated for a moment, and asked, “Are we still going to the water plant?”
……
“Of course we will go!”
Inside carriage number 9, a hale and hearty old man stood by the car window and said confidently.
Scarface touched the scar on his cheek and said puzzledly, “Old Qin, why are you talking in circles? Didn’t you say the guy surnamed Su wouldn’t get off the train? And even if Prosperity Property Management refused the transaction, there’s no reason to strike hard at Boss Gao, right? There are too many holes in this.”
The old man glanced at him, shook his head and said, “Su Huan is heavily suspicious, not to mention facing Gao Zhe. Even if given a hundred convincing reasons, he wouldn’t believe them. Instead, with a few pieces of information full of flaws, he would become suspicious and paranoid.”
“From the first day of the apocalypse outbreak, he decisively seized the train, then collected supplies and modified it into an armed vehicle. This mentality, this decisiveness, can be called a hegemon in any era, and such people all have one weakness.”
“Arrogance?” Scarface asked thoughtfully.
“It’s obsession!”
Old Qin took out a handkerchief from his pocket, carefully wiped the sweat from his mustache, and said seriously, “Anyone with ability has their obsession.”
“They won’t easily give up. The plans they make must be completed. This is both their strength and their weakness.”
“Since he went to such great lengths to get the water purifier, he won’t give up easily.”
“Even if he knows Gao Zhe is waiting for him in the dark.”
Scarface touched his chest, sweating profusely, and said irritably, “What if it drags on? The guy surnamed Su has food, drink, air conditioner, and beauty in the carriage, while Boss Gao is in the perilous wilderness.”
“It won’t be too long. Su Huan is more anxious than us. Look, hasn’t he come out already?”
Old Qin watched the two figures suddenly passing outside the car window, his gaze flickering.
A worker in work clothes walked behind, dragging a corpse. A young man in a gray T-shirt and jeans walked in front.
The worker followed somewhat nervously, carefully observing Su Huan.
Afraid that if he attracted zombies, the other would abandon him and run.
Seeing more and more weeds around, almost obscuring the train, the worker couldn’t help asking, “Boss Su, where are we going? To rescue Boss Gao?”
Su Huan scanned around with his gaze, suddenly fixing on one spot.
It was a one-meter-diameter bush, with a few red vines wrapped in the greenery.
The vine body showed dark red vein-like patterns, densely covered with transparent spikes on the surface.
At first glance, it looked a bit like sea buckthorn, growing ferociously.
“Throw the corpse in your hand over there.”
The worker swallowed, dragged the corpse forward, then hugged his thigh and flung it hard, tossing the upper body into the bush.
Unexpectedly, the originally quiet plant suddenly moved.
Red branches shot toward the corpse like sharp swords.
“Pfft!”
One branch pierced through the corpse and directly into the worker’s arm.
The worker immediately let out a scream, wanting to run, but his feet were entangled by branches at some point, and he stumbled with one step.
In just over ten seconds, both legs were tightly wrapped by the vines.
Seeing more vines crawling up like living things, the worker tearfully begged the approaching Su Huan for help.
Su Huan looked at the worker entangled by the bloodthirsty vine, his eyes deep, “You said earlier those two came to catch you together?”
“Yes, yes, it was them who struck first. Boss Su, save me quick, save me!”
The worker was dragged by the bloodthirsty vine, struggling madly.
Red light glowed in Su Huan’s hand, and the approaching bloodthirsty vine hesitated for a moment, bypassed Su Huan, and turned back to continue wrapping the worker.
Branches pierced through the worker’s body one by one, revealing bloody spikes.
Su Huan extended one finger, poking toward the branch like a branding iron into butter. The branch and flesh carbonized simultaneously, poked with a hole by him.
The worker let out another scream, wailing, “I was wrong, Boss Su. I shouldn’t have lied to you. Please spare me this once.”
Su Huan unhurriedly poked at the branches on his body.
Like whack-a-mole.
Although it curbed the bloodthirsty vine’s devouring, the worker’s body had already been poked with over a dozen deep and shallow holes by him.
The pain made him wish he were dead.
“What did you lie to me about?”
“They… didn’t attack us. Gao Zhe hadn’t entered the water plant yet… he just used his supernatural ability to kill those two.”
The worker said intermittently.
Su Huan narrowed his eyes. This worker probably didn’t know about the bomb hidden in the buttocks and mistook it for Gao Zhe’s supernatural ability.
As for why this worker cooperated with Gao Zhe, there could be many reasons.
Either he was subdued in the carriage, or threatened on the spot.
Perhaps some other details, but overall similar to his guess.
Gao Zhe’s goal was only one: to lure him out of the train!
While he was thinking, the bloodthirsty vine launched another attack.
The worker wanted to beg for mercy, but a bunch of fresh red vein-like branches had grown in his mouth.
He made a few “gurgle” monster sounds and went completely still.
His eyes lost their luster.
Having absorbed two corpses, the bloodthirsty vine became even more vibrant red.
In a few minutes between branches, it actually bore a few fruits, with a thin membrane outside and blood water inside.
They looked crystal clear and dripping with allure.
