Chapter 13: The Pet Beast Becomes a Silly Sweetheart
In the early morning, Bai Lian, holding a large pile of documents with its root tendrils, approached Dr. Bai.
Dr. Bai was about to go to sleep, but Bai Lian turned on the lights.
“Master, Master, please mark these theses for me. I really can’t stand reading them anymore. Song Tiantian is truly pitiful; everyone ostracizes her, looks down on her, and thinks she’s uneducated. She doesn’t even know how to operate the instruments; I taught her.”
“You asked me for your salary card this afternoon and transferred all five hundred thousand from it to her. Do you think I don’t know? You also had your assistant buy you a pile of useless stones. What’s the point!”
“Master, Song Tiantian had so much blood drawn from her last time that she’s malnourished. What’s wrong with me giving her a little money to buy food and replenish her qi and blood?”
“How come I’ve never seen you so kind and soft-hearted before?”
“Master, beasts can change. I really can’t bear to see her being ostracized every day, wanting to learn but having no one to teach her!”
“You never used to talk this much!”
“Master, you should lecture first!”
Dr. Bai watched Bai Lian, under the lamplight, diligently taking notes with its root tendril holding a pen tip, studying intently.
This was a difficult thing to imagine: a Pet Beast autonomously learning. It was simply impossible.
But Song Tiantian achieved it.
She managed to get Bai Lian to be her tutoring teacher, guiding her homework.
What did she give Bai Lian? A pile of rags.
That ugly mud bowl, with scribbled colors on it, was indescribable. Bai Lian still wanted to inlay gemstones on it. It was hard to imagine how ugly it had to be, and no amount of inlay could fix it.
Speaking of Bai Lian, it became unhappy and blurted out concepts like hazy beauty, contrasting beauty, and various so-called aesthetic knowledge. Looking at it, it was clear someone had taught these theories.
He knew how cunning Bai Lian was; he knew how much hardship he endured when he contracted Bai Lian.
But in front of Song Tiantian, Bai Lian was like a foolish, rich, naive idiot who was easily deceived. It believed anything it was told.
Moreover, Bai Lian’s words were nine lies out of ten. He didn’t know how many times he had beaten it before it became honest.
Now, it mostly told the truth to Song Tiantian and even studied late into the night under the lamp.
Before, when he asked Bai Lian to do a little work, it would get impatient, saying this and that wouldn’t work. But now, it was full of energy.
Bai Lian had said more than once that although Song Tiantian was stupid, her Beast Taming Talent was very strong. If it hadn’t contracted with him, it would have contracted with Song Tiantian, looking down on her while wanting to contract with her. What it said was half true and half false.
However, Song Tiantian’s ability to deceive Bai Lian was also her skill.
Bai Lian even applied for a separate laboratory for Song Tiantian.
Dr. Bai also agreed. What could a semi-illiterate person with a high school education and a completely illiterate Pet Beast research?
It was unimaginable to use his precious instruments to fire ceramics. He never realized Bai Lian had a fondness for ceramics before.
It used to look down on soil the most, but now it said that the earth nourishes all things and that soil was the most advanced thing, spouting all sorts of theories.
·········
Song Tiantian, pulling a cart, brought a load of personal belongings into the laboratory.
She had finally become someone with her own independent office and laboratory.
She assembled a shelf. Although it was made of sheet metal and very crude, placing a good piece of cloth on it made it less so.
Bai Lian’s beloved bottles and jars were all placed on it.
It had to be said that high-end instruments were excellent; they could fire a finished raw piece in just one hour.
A few were burned at the beginning, which made Bai Lian heartbroken. It cursed Song Tiantian for a long time.
It was just a pile of mud; it could be reset.
Song Tiantian also noticed Bai Lian’s personality: it couldn’t make decisions, liked to take advice, and would get upset if the outcome wasn’t good. After cursing, it didn’t affect its willingness to listen again next time.
“Venerable, the day’s plan begins in the morning. Morning is the most beautiful time. At this time, you must have a cup of clear tea.”
Song Tiantian brewed the Cold Fragrance Tea, its bamboo fragrance filling the air. She herself found the scent amazing.
Steaming white mist rose, and she almost wanted to drink it herself.
【 Damn, this woman doesn’t want to drink my tea, does she! 】
【 She’s drooling; she wants to drink it! 】
【 This is mine. 】
“Tiantian, drinking tea in the morning is bad for your health. Let me drink it!”
“Venerable, this tea is too hot. Look, you can add some ice to it; the taste will be even more special.”
She didn’t want to drink it! She knew what the raw materials were.
Song Tiantian took out the ice maker and poured out ice cubes.
For the entire day, Bai Lian drank tea, directed the world, and explained the thesis to Song Tiantian in detail.
Song Tiantian found that Bai Lian had some skill; its explanations of the theses were much easier to understand than Jiang Su’s.
Bai Lian was cramming, studying late at night to teach her.
“Venerable, I have a question. Can we try mixing our tea with Energy Water? Would that be better?”
“We can add some flower petals too.”
【 It’s a Venerable with status and prestige; not adding flower petals would be too shabby. 】
“Okay!”
“Tiantian, the juice you’re drinking looks delicious!”
“Venerable, try a little.”
【 Damn, it’s all industrial sweetener. 】
“Don’t drink this anymore in the future. Drinking too much can lead to diabetes, kidney failure…”
She would never buy cheap juice again. She hadn’t expected it to be so harmful.
Oh well, wasting is also bad. She’d add more ice, dilute it, and finish it today, but not drink it tomorrow.
She could try making her own Energy Water; otherwise, using Bai Lian’s share wouldn’t be good.
There was no shortage of materials in the laboratory. Her authority was insufficient, but Bai Lian’s authority was immense. As Dr. Bai’s Pet Beast, it essentially possessed the same capabilities as Dr. Bai.
Taking too much was not allowed, but taking small amounts was fine.
【 Isn’t this the raw material the Master uses to make awakening talent potions? 】
【 Why did Song Tiantian take this? I just explained the method for making awakening talent potions to her. 】
【 The Master experimented with this on many Fierce Beasts, and they all died. 】
【 Never mind, I am not those trash Fierce Beasts. With this potion and my personal improvement, it definitely won’t go wrong. 】
【 If I take this potion and awaken and evolve again, how powerful will I be! That damned crow of the Master will never be able to surpass my status again. 】
Dr. Bai actually had a crow Pet Beast.
Song Tiantian had thought a Beast Tamer could only contract with one Pet Beast.
The competition between Pet Beasts was too fierce!
Although Bai Lian was quite wicked, it was willing to test the drug on itself to become stronger.
